Logitech Slim Combo 12.9 Instruction Manual

Frequently Asked Questions
+Cosmetic / Broken Button
Due to the portability of our mobility products, we understand they are at greater risk of cosmetic
damage over the course of the warranty. There are situations in which this damage is
covered:
Letters are worn on keycaps
Loose or fully broken keycaps
Clips that secure tablet in place no longer safely hold the tablet
Kickstand no longer supports the tablet
Should you find that you have any of these issues, we request that you provide a photo of the
damage and a description of what the issue is (ex. letter keycaps A, G, and H are missing) in a
warranty request.
Best practices to avoid cosmetic damage
DO
Keep all parts and connectors clean and free of debris at all times
Make sure the keyboard is protected from falls as this can result in damage to the keys
Make sure there are no objects between your device and the keyboard when closing the
screen
If your keyboard is detachable, re-attach the keyboard to the case and make sure it’s
closed. This will help to protect the keys and device’s screen.
DO NOT
Place the keyboard into storage while not attached to the case (if your keyboard is
removable). Storing the keyboard without the case makes it more prone to damage.
Spill food, drinks, or any other liquids onto the keyboard.
Pick the keys off the keyboard. They are difficult to replace and may result in the need to
replace the entire keyboard.
+Some or all keys do not work
If you are experiencing an issue with some or all of the keys not working when the
case/keyboard is properly attached to your case, follow the instructions below for your mobile
operating system:
iOS
Android
NOTE: This does not apply to special characters that use keyboard shortcuts.
iOS
1. Reconnect your device to the iPad and test the keyboard:
oBluetooth:
1. Make sure the iPad is connected and fully seated in the case and if the
keyboard has an On/Off switch, turn it on. If no LEDs appear or if the
LED is red, you’ll need to charge your keyboard.
2. On your iPad, make sure Bluetooth® is on.
Select Settings > Bluetooth > On. Then, select “iPad” from the Devices
menu.
3. Press the Bluetooth® connect button on the keyboard for two seconds
until the status light blinks. The keyboard is discoverable.
4. In the iPad Bluetooth® menu, select your discoverable keyboard to
connect.
5. If your iPad requests a PIN, enter it using the keyboard (not on the iPad),
then press ENTER on the keyboard.
oSmartConnector
1. Make sure the SmartConnector on the iPad and top of the keyboard is
clean and free of debris.
2. Verify that the iPad is in the case properly to allow the SmartConnector to
align with the connector on the keyboard.
3. Place the iPad to allow the SmartConnector to attach (there is a small
magnet that will keep it in place).
2. If the issue persists, perform a soft reset of your iPad. To perform a soft reset, press and
hold the power button and the home button until the iPad restarts and the Apple logo
appears. After rebooting, confirm that your keyboard is connected to the iPad and then
test it.
3. Make sure your iPad is up to date with the newest iOS:
1. Plug your iPad into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
3. Tap Download and then Install and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Once the updates are installed, the iPad will restart. Confirm that your keyboard is
successfully connected and then test it.
Android
1. Start by reconnecting your device to the tablet and testing the keyboard.
1. Make sure Bluetooth® is on:
Select Settings > Bluetooth > On
2. Press the Bluetooth® connect button on the keyboard for two seconds until the
status light blinks. The keyboard is discoverable.
3. In the Android Bluetooth® menu, select your discoverable keyboard to connect.
4. If your tablet requests a PIN, enter it using the keyboard (not on the tablet), then
press ENTER on the keyboard.
2. If the issue persists, please restart your Android device and test again.
3. Ensure your tablet has all Android updates installed.
4. Test while in Safe Mode:
1. Boot your Andriod 7.x device into Safe Mode. This typically involves holding
down the power button and volume key at the same time, but you should confirm
the exact steps on your device manufacturer's website.
NOTE: You'll see an on-screen notification when the device is in Safe Mode.
2. While in Safe Mode, pair the keyboard with your device.
3. After the keyboard has successfully paired, restart your device normally. The
keyboard should continue to be paired with your device.
+Confirm the Logitech Slim Combo case connection
To confirm that your Slim Combo keyboard is properly connected using the Smart Connector, do
the following:
1. Go to Settings on your iPad.
2. Tap on About Device.
3. In the legal information section, you should see the Slim Combo.
If you don’t see the Slim Combo, then it's not properly connected.
For troubleshooting help, please see Logitech Slim Combo case does not connect to iPad.
+Palm rest for the Logitech Slim Combo 12.9 case
The Slim Combo 12.9 includes a palm rest that you can use or fold away.
Unfolded palm rest
You can keep the palm rest unfolded to rest your palms on a soft fabric surface. When unfolded,
the keyboard + palm rest are the same as dimensions of the keyboard on a 13-inch laptop.
Folded palm rest
Fold the palm rest under, as shown to save space when working in small environments or on the
go.
+Frequently asked questions about compatibility with the Slim Combo case for iPad 12.9
and 10.5 inch with Smart Connector
Will I be able to put my iPad Pro in the case and close it if my iPad has a tempered screen
protector?
This should not be a problem for the Slim Combo.
The gap between the keyboard and iPad Pro screen is approximately 3mm —this is enough to fit
most screen protectors.
I use a charging stand that is also Smart Connector-based. Does the case cover the Smart
Connector pins?
The Slim Combo case has been designed to keep the Smart Connectors accessible, so you can
use it with a Smart Connector charging stand such as the Logitech Base.
Is the Slim Combo case keyboard compatible with Apple Silicon case?
The Slim Combo provides both iPad Protection + Stand and typing features. Because the Apple
Silicon case doesn’t provide a stand function, which is needed to set up your iPad Pro at an angle
for typing mode, it won’t work with the keyboard. For more information, see Viewing positions
for the Logitech Slim Combo.
+Adjust the backlighting on the Logitech Slim Combo
You can adjust the backlighting of your keyboard from 0% to 100%.
To increase the backlighting, press the Backlighting Level Up key:
To decrease the backlighting, press the Backlighting Level Down key:
+Language switch key on Logitech Slim Combo keyboards
The language switch shortcut key is on the bottom left of your keyboard.
+Viewing positions for the Logitech Slim Combo
There are four different viewing positions you can use with your Slim Combo 12.9 and 10.5-inch
cases:
Typing mode
Viewing mode
Facetime mode
Book mode
Typing mode
1. Open the kickstand and adjust it to
the desired angle (20-70 degrees).
2. Place the holder on the desk in
landscape layout as shown.
3. Attach the keyboard to the iPad at
the Smart Connector side.
4. Fold the palm rest under the
keyboard (optional).
Viewing mode
1. Open the kickstand and adjust it to
the desired angle (20-70 degrees).
2. Place the holder on the desk in
landscape layout as shown.
Facetime mode
1. Open the kickstand to a 90-degree
angle.
2. Place the holder on the desk in
portrait layout as shown.
3. Make sure the camera on the front of
the iPad is not upside down, then
start your Facetime experience at the
perfect angle.
Book mode
Close the keyboard and kickstand to
browse the content of your iPad —
just like reading a book.
+Slim Combo Product Information FAQ
Keyboard form factor
Does the keyboard still work when not attached to iPad?
The keyboard uses a Smart Connector –a physical connection to iPad. When you detach the
Slim Combo keyboard from your iPad it will disconnect.
Does the keyboard fold back 360 degrees around to lay flat against the iPad?
No, it doesn’t. If you don't need the keyboard, you can simply detach and store it elsewhere.
There are still three available modes you can use with your iPad Pro:
Reading mode
Viewing mode
Facetime mode
Can the iPad attach to the keyboard without the case?
Yes, the keyboard attaches directly to iPad via Smart Connector. You would require a case part
though to prop the iPad at a typing angle.
Can I buy just the keyboard without the case?
No, Slim Combo is a full solution, consisting of a case and keyboard —they are only sold
together.
Will the keyboard scratch the screen?
No, it will not the Slim Combo has been designed to ensure screen safety:
When closed, there is 3 mm gap between keyboard and iPad to prevent contact
There are rubber paddings between keyboard and case to prevent direct contact of the
keyboard with the screen
Keyboard material –we are using only safe materials in keyboard design –no aluminum
or metal or other materials hard enough to cause damage
Keys
Are all the keys on the Slim Combo keyboard capable of backlighting?
Yes, every single key has the capability to be backlit.
Why does the backlighting turn off when I connect the keyboard?
Every time the keyboard connects to your iPad Pro, the backlighting will turn on for three
seconds then fade away. You can adjust the level of backlighting afterwards using the
backlighting shortcut keys on the top row of keys.
Is there an indicator light when Caps lock is enabled?
No.
+Connect and pair the Logitech Slim Combo keyboard to an iPad
Slim Combo uses the Smart Connector to connect to your iPad —it doesn’t require Bluetooth in
order to pair.
Here’s how to connect your Slim Combo keyboard:
1. Align the three Smart Connector pins on your keyboard with the three Smart Connector
pins on the right side of your iPad. Magnets will help to guide the pins of the keyboard to
make alignment easier.
2. After you’ve aligned the Smart Connector pins, you’re connected and ready to type.

+Logitech Slim Combo case does not connect to iPad
If your Slim Combo case won’t connect to your iPad using the SmartConnector, check the
following:
1. Make sure the iOS on your iPad is updated to the latest version.
2. Disconnect the keyboard and then attempt to reconnect it to your iPad. See Connect and
pair the Logitech Slim Combo keyboard to an iPad for more information.
3. Make sure there’s no dust around the Smart Connector.
4. Restart your iPad.
To quickly see if your Slim Combo case is properly connected to your iPad, see Confirm your
Logitech Slim Combo case connection.
+Set up and remove the Logitech Slim Combo
Here’s how to set up your Slim combo for the first time:
1. Click the iPad into the holder, starting with the top left corner, then top right.
2. Open the kickstand on the holder, then set your iPad at a comfortable angle. Adjust if
needed.
3. Attach the keyboard, aligning the three connector pins on the keyboard with the three
connector ports on the side of the iPad.
NOTE: Make sure your iOS is up to date (and always stays up to date) —this is
important for Smart Connector, which transfers both power and data between iPad and
the keyboard.
4. For iPad Pro 12.9 inch, you can fold the keyboard palm rest under for a more compact
footprint.
To remove your iPad, remove the iPad from the holder by bending one of the two corners of the
case on the side where the Smart Connector is, shown in Step 3 above.
