with current statues) for damages on the equipment, or damages caused

INTRODUCTION
INTENDED SECTOR OF APPLICATION
1. INTRODUCTION
This instruction manual contains information and descriptions of methods to ensure safe
operation and maintenance of the equipment. For your own safety and as a protection against
injuries, follow the instructions for safety with great care. This will create a good knowledge
about the features of the equipment and a good understanding for them.
2. INTENDED SECTOR OF APPLICATION
The compactor is intended for compacting loose and grained material, gravel and macadam
as well as in narrow spaces at constructions, border stones and foundations. The sector of
application is ditches-, and surface compacting, also for more compact grounds, all the way to
leveling of nishing mortar.
The equipment is only allowed for outdoor use. All other usage is a violation of the regulation in
force. Violation of these regulations, modication of the design of the equipment or the usage of
non-original spare parts which are not approved by the manufacturer might give rise to immense
injuries.
WARNING! Persons without knowledge in the equipment, children, under aged persons
and persons under inuence of alcohol and drugs/medicines are not allowed to handle the
equipment.
The equipment is not intended for compacting surfaces with a high content of clay.
The rubber mat (extra accessory) is only intended for compacting paving stones and brick
pavers. All other type of materials shall be compacted without the rubber mat.

3. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
To avoid accidents and re when this equipment is used, as well as damages to other
equipment/objects the following safety instructions should be respected.
Carefully read all instructions before the equipment is taken in operation. Keep the instruction
manual for future references. Instructions which are related to the personal protection are
marked up with a warning triangle, instructions regarding general damage risks are not marked
up with the warning triangle.

3.1 General safety instructions
1. Keep the working area in good order
- Poor order within the working area may cause accidents.
2. Working environment considerations
- Never use the equipment in closed spaces or spaces with poor ventilation. The running
motor emits dangerous fumes. These may be invisible and odorless.
- Do not store the equipment in rain.
- Do not use the equipment in moist and wet environment.
- At uneven surfaces, pay attention on a steady foothold.
- Pay attention for shafts which are not roped off, ditches and excavations.
- Arrange with proper illumination at the working site.
- Do not use the equipment close to inammable vegetation, or in areas where there is a risk
for re and explosion.
- At drought, arrange with re extinguishing equipment in easy reach. (Fire hazard)

- Other persons, especially children, should be kept on distance from the equipment and the
working area.
4. Storage of tools which are not needed
- Tools which are not needed shall be stored in a dry, high located place, or in a locked space
without reach for children.
5. Do not overload the equipment
- The equipment will work better and safer within the specied power limits.
6. Use the right tools
- Do not use poor tools for heavy tasks.
- Only use tools which are suitable for the intended purposes.
- Always keep the tools clean.
7. Use the right type of clothing
- Do not use wide clothes or jewels, they may get jammed in moving parts of the equipment.
- Use rm working gloves of leather, they provide a good protection.
- Use safety shoes with steel bonnet.
- Always use working clothing of steady and stable quality.
- Long hair: use hairnet and helmet.
8. Use personal protection equipment
- Always use protection devices for eyes, head, ears, hands and hearing
- At dusty environments, use breathing protection.
9. Avoid unnatural body positions
- Be observant on steady foothold and good body balance.
10. Remove tools which have been used
- Before taking the equipment in use, check that all tools have been removed.
11. Full attention!
- Pay attention to what you are doing. Use common sense and judgment. If you are tired and
not concentrated, do not work with the equipment. Never work under inuence of alcohol,
drugs, medicines or other substances. Sight, judgment and skill are affected in a negative
way in such conditions.
12.Relloffuel
- Before rell of fuel, always stop the motor.
- Always be careful when opening the gas cap to allow overpressure out.
- Working with the compactor creates high temperatures on the surface of the equipment.
Before relling, let the equipment cool off. High temperature creates a risk for self-ignition
and serious consequential damages.
- Do not overll the tank. If fuel spills, it has to be removed at once and the equipment
cleaned.
- Tighten the gas cap well so vibrations during the work doesn´t make it come off.
13. Take breaks!
- Long periods of working with the equipment may cause circulation problems in ngers,
hands and wrists. Indications are for instance certain parts of the body go numb – tickles,
pains or twinges, changes in skin surface or skin color. At such situations, medical care
should be consulted.
- Suitable gloves and regular pauses will however extend the working periods. Please note
that personal dispositions for circulation problems in combination with rm and tight holding
at work can reduce the real working period substantially.

14. Control of the engine
- Before taking the equipment into operation, all safety devices and parts with minor defects
must be carefully checked.
- Check out that all moving parts operate without objections and don´t jam or are damaged in
any other way. All parts must be correctly assembled and comply with all conditions for full
function without any limitations.
- Safety devices and parts must unconditionally be repaired by a qualied workshop or
replaced, unless the Instruction Manual gives alternative directives.
- A faulty power switch must be replaced by a qualied workshop.
- Don´t operate equipment where the power switch can´t be switched off/on.

- The use of spare parts, even accessories, which are not explicitly recommended, can cause
personal injuries.
16. Always only use accepted parts
- This equipment corresponds to current safety regulations. Repair is only allowed by a
qualied workshop or by our service-teams and with original parts. If not, there is a risk for
accidents.
3.2 Safety of operation
It is not allowed for children and young persons below 18 to operate the equipment.
Young persons from 16 years may operate the equipment within the framework of
professional training and supervision by trained personnel.
Read the manual carefully and obtain knowledge in the operation. Incorrect handling
oroperationbyunqualiedpersonnelwithoutexperienceoftheequipmentwillcreate
accident situations.
• NEVER use the equipment for purposes it is not intended for.
• NEVER take the motor or the exhauster system by the hand during operation or short time
thereafter. These parts run very hot and can cause burn damages.
• ALWAYS use original spare parts. The use of parts or accessories from third source can
result in damages of the equipment or risks for accidents.
• NEVER operate the equipment without the belt protection cover. The belt without protection is
a danger of accident and may cause serious injuries.
• NEVER leave the equipment unattended with the motor running.
• ALWAYS check out that surfaces which shall be compacted doesn´t contain live cables, gas-
or waterpipes, or cables for communication.
• ALWAYS check out that the sidewalls in excavations, dump- and sloping borders are stable
and don´t give in for the vibrations. Be aware of the risk for landslide.
• ALWAYS rope off the working area and keep non-authorized personel away from the area.
• During operation periods, ALWAYS take regular breaks. Vibrations and long periods of work
can cause damages in hands and arms.
• Before operation, ALWAYS check that the operator is familiar with the safety instructions and

the operation.
• If required – ALWAYS use suitable protection clothing.
- Hearing protection, to avoid damages on the hearing
- Respiratory protection, to avoid inhaling dust
- Sight protection, to protect the eyes
- Use rm working gloves, gloves made of leather provide good protection.
- Use safety shoes
- Use helmet as a protection against ying objects and particles.
• During operation, ALWAYS use hearing protection.
WARNING: Noise might create illness symptoms. If the allowed noise level of 80 dB (A)
isexceeded,hearingprotectionmustbeused.
• ALWAYS shut down the engine when the equipment is not in use.
• ALWAYS close the fuel tap when the equipment is not in use.
• NEVER use the choke to stop the motor.
• When the equipment is not in use, keep it stored in a safe place so it can´t be used by
unauthorized persons. NEVER store the equipment in open air or in humid conditions.
• Before operation, ALWAYS check that safety devices and cover plates are without damages
and in perfect condition.
- Check that all moving parts operate without objection and don´t jam, or replace all parts
which are damaged. All parts must fulll the requirement for full functionality to ensure the
operation without objection.
- All damaged parts and safety devices must be replaced or repaired by an authorized
workshop, unless the instruction manual states anything else.
• ALWAYS read the instruction manual before the equipment is taken in operation. The
instructions for DANGER, WARNING and precautions hast to be followed unconditionally to
avoid risks for person- and object damages, as well as unnecessary repairs.
3.3 Safety at the use of combustion motors
Combustion motors during operation and refueling brings certain risks. Read and follow
always the instructions in the motor manual, together with the safety instructions in this
manual. Carelessness may cause serious injuries and also lethal injuries.
• NEVER refuel with the motor running or when it is still hot.
• Only refuel in surroundings with good ventilation.
• NEVER refuel close to open re.
• Smoking is forbidden during refueling.
• Don´t spill when refueling.
• After refueling, remember to put back the tank cap and tighten it.
• Store fuel in containers for the intended purpose, well away from heat and self-ignition
sources.

3.4 Safety at service
Unauthorized maintenance or not attending problems can create dangerous situations
during operation. Only use equipment where maintenance has been performed on a
regular basis and in the right way. That is the only way to ensure a safe and smooth
performance over time.
• It is NOT allowed to clean, adjust or repair the equipment with the motor running. Moving
parts may result in serious damages.
• At maintenance and repair, ALWAYS remove the sparkplug. This makes it impossible to start
the motor by accident.
• NEVER use the equipment without airlter.
• NEVER use petrol or any other inammable liquid to clean the parts. Fumes from the fuel
may explode.
• NEVER store paper, cardboard or similar material close to the exhaust system. The hot
system may cause re.
•At repair and maintenance, ALWAYS put back safety- and security devices
• Damaged and worn out parts should ALWAYS be replaced by original parts.
•Regulary, check that the tank cap is tight
• Quite often, clean between cooling anges
• The labels on the equipment informs for different types of hazards. Keep the equipment clean
and replace damaged labels.
3.5 Further potential risks and protective measures
Mechanical risks
Jamming
Careless operation of the compactor may cause serious personal injuries.
- At uneven surfaces and at compressing of rugged material, extra attention is required. Be
careful with stable foothold.
Shocks
At rm, hard or raw surfaces quite hard back-kicks (shocks) in the handle can occur.
- Avoid cultivating such rm, hard or rugged surfaces. Keep a rm grip on the handle and wear
protection clothing.
Negligence with ergonomic principles
Negligence to wear personal protection equipment
To refrain from personal protection equipment, or use it the wrong way, can create serious
personal damages.
- Use proposed protection equipment
Individual and incorrect behaviour
- Always keep full attention to the work task.
Further risks can never be completely eliminated.

To touch the exhaust system can create serious burns.
First, let the motor cool down.
Noise damages
Damages on the hearing
Longer working periods without noise protection can cause damages on the hearing.
- Always use hearing protection.
Risks due to other material and fumes
Contact, inhalation
The exhaust gas is a health hazard.
- Only use the equipment outdoors and take breaks.
Fireandexplosion
- The fuel mix for the motor is inammable.
- Smoking and open re in connection with relling is forbidden.
Vibration damages
Body vibrations
Long working periods with a compactor may cause body damages.
- Take regular breaks!
Other dangers
Slip, trip or fall
- Unstable foundations can cause fall injuries.
- Be aware for obstacles within the working area. Always keep good footing and use safety
shoes.
3.6 Routines at accidents
In the event of an accident, take rst aid provision and call for ambulance.
Be prepared for the following information:
- Where has it happened?
- What has happened?
- How many are injured?
- What type of injuries?
- Who is calling?

3.7 Symbols for warnings and instructions
The equipment is supplied from the manufacturer without oil in the motor. Before taking in
operation the rst time, oil has to be lled up. If not, the motor will be seriously damaged.

CLAIMS

risk for injuries for both user and other persons will increase.
During operation, always use hearing- and sight protections. If called for it,
use suitable helmet intended for the type of working environment.
Use working shoes with steel bonnet.
WARNING
* Hooking in belts and straps during operation usually causes hand- and
nger injuries. Always put back the belt protection cover.
* Touching hot surfaces may cause burn injuries. Cleaning and maintenance
should always be carried out on a cool motor.
WARNING
There is a high risk of jamming injuries at the crossbar on the steering
schackle and at the protection cover.
