2. Safety
The manufacturer will not be held responsible for any damages resulting from non-compliance of the overall
documentation, in particular for damages in case of non-compliance of the operating instructions.
2.1 General safety information
Observe following regulations before accomplishing all activities.
Product safety
The pump is constructed in conformity with the state of the art and approved safety-related standards. Danger
however can occur during use for life and health of the user or third parties or damage of the pump and other
material assets. Therefore:
• Operate the pump only in a technically sound state, for its proper use, and conscious of safety and hazards
taking into account these instructions.
• Ensure that these instructions and all associated applicable documents are complete, legible, and stored in
a place that personnel can access at all times.
• Refrain from any manner of working that endangers personnel or uninvolved third parties.
• In the case of a safety-relevant malfunction, stop the pump immediately and enlist a responsible person to
rectify the malfunction.
• In addition to the overall documentation, observe the statutory or other safety and accident prevention regu-
lations, as well as the valid standards and guidelines of the respective operating country.
Modications
Unless the manufacturer has provided its consent in writing, the manufacturer is not liable for interventions per-
formedbytheuser(modications)ontheproduct,suchasconversion,alteration,newdesign,etc.Modications
not agreed with the manufacturer may have the following effects, among others:
• Functional impairments on the appliance or plant
• Damage to the appliance and other property damage
• Environmental damage
• Personal injuries right through to death
Duties of the operator
Safety-conscious working
• Operate the pump only in a technically sound state, for its proper use, and conscious of safety and hazards
taking into account these instructions.
• Ensure observance and monitoring of:
- Proper use
- Statutory or other safety and accident prevention regulations
- Safety provisions in handling hazardous substances
- Valid standards and guidelines in the respective country of operation
• Provideprotectiveequipment.

Personnel qualication
• Theoperatingpersonnelisrequiredtobeatleast14yearsold.
• Ensure that personnel tasked with work on the pump have read and understood these instructions and all
associated applicable documents, particularly safety, maintenance and servicing information, before they start
work.
• Clarify responsibilities, competencies and monitoring of the personnel.
• Ensurethatallworkiscarriedoutbytechnicalqualiedpersonnelonly:
- Assembly, servicing, maintenance work
- Work on the electrics
• Personnel to be trained must only work on the pump under the supervision of technical personnel.
Statutory warranty
• Duringtheguaranteeperiod,obtainthemanufacturer'spermissionformodications,maintenanceworkor
alteration.
• Use only original parts.
Duties of the personnel
• Observethenoticesonthepumpandmaintaintheminalegiblestate,e.g.rotationarrow,markingforuid
connections.
• Useprotectiveequipmentwherenecessary.
• Do not reach into the intake port of the pump.
• Only perform work on the pump during downtime.
• Ensure that the electric motor is disconnected before you carry out assembly and maintenance work.
• Aftercompletingalltheworkonthemotor,remountthesafetydevicesinaccordancewithspecications.

2.2 Proper use
Each Lutz eccentric screw drum pump of series B70V-H SanitaryPlus comprises a universal, a 3-phase or a
compressed air motor and a pump tube.
Theowrateanddeliveryheaddependontheselectedpumpsize.Thismeansthatthemostappropriatepump
canbechosenforeachindividualapplication.Thepumpisspecicallydesignedforthetransferofliquidsinthe
food and beverage industry. The apparatus is provided for commercial use only.
• The pump may only be installed in an upright position.
• The pump may only be used in areas covered by the approval. Information on the rating plate must be
absolutely observed.
• Thepumpmayonlybeusedtopumptheagreedliquids.(→contractdatasheet)orensurethatthepump
isresistanttotheliquidbeingpumped(→technicaldata,→Lutzresistancetable).
• Notethelimitvaluesfortemperatureandviscosityoftheliquidbeingpumped(→technicaldata).
• Thedrivemotormustbelocatedoutsideofthemobilecontainerordrum(→Fig.1).
• The pump may only be operated with the discharge closed if a bypass valve with return line has been
installed.
• Ensure that the safety valves for the protection of the pump against inadmissible increase of pressure are
nothighersetthanthemaximumoperatingpressure(→technicaldata).
• For the protection of the pump sealing the pump is not allowed to run dry. This must be permanently
controlled by the operator.
If the product and supplied accessories are used for other purposes than the intended purpose, it is the responsi-
bilityoftheusertocheckthesuitabilityandadmissibility.Productusenotconrmedinwritingbythemanufacturer
absolves the manufacturer of any liability.
Themanufactureris not liable for consequences of incorrect treatment, use, maintenance, servicing and
operation of the appliance, as well as normal wear and tear. The same applies if faults arise from intervention or
congurationsonthepartoftheusernotconrmedbythemanufacturer.

2.2.2 Operation in hazardous location or pumping ammable liquids
Applicationinexplosionhazardareasorpumpingammableliquidsthefollowingpointsmustbenotedadditionally:
►Theoperatormustcreateanexplosionprotectiondocumentforhiseldofapplication.Thisdocumentmust
indicate the division of the explosive area into zones. Only devices of category 1 may be used in areas of
zone 0 and devices of category 1 or 2 in areas of zone 1.
iThedrumpumpsareusedtopumpliquidproductsfrommobilevessels.Insideofthecontainerorthepump,
i.e.outertube,innertubewithpumpshaft,shaftsealingandpumptube,requirementsofcategory1are
valid.Forallotherpartsofthedrumpumprequirementsofcategory2arevalid.
Only use drum pumps with ATEX approval in explosion hazardous areas. Only use explosion proof drive motors
as well.
- B70V-H-D SanitaryPlus: The drive motors (electrical or with compressed air drives) must be chosen according
to the respective size with a power of up to 2 kW and a maximum speed of 900 rpm.
- B70V-H-SR SanitaryPlus: Universal motors with a power of up to 1.5 kW and a max. speed of 14400 1/min.

• The maximum ambient temperature must not be exceeded.
In case of marking II 1/2 G Ex h IIB T4 Ga/Gb: -20 up to +40°C
In case of marking II 1/2 G Ex h IIB T3 Ga/Gb: -20 up to +60°C
• The maximum medium temperature of 100 °C must not be exceeded in the container.
• Only use stators made of PTFE.
• The operator must continuously monitor the pump during operation to prevent the pump from pumping against
aclosedshut-offdeviceandthuscausingtheuidremaininginthetank(drum)toheatuptoimpermissible
levels. If this cannot be prevented a bypass valve with return line must be installed.
• Pumpoperationmaycausetheowinguidstopickupanelectrostaticcharge.
• Beforebeingputintocommission,thedrumpumpmustbeintegratedintotheequipotentialbonding,i.e.the
pumptubemustbeequipotentiallybondedtothetank(drum),themotormustbeequipotentiallybondedtothe
tank (drum) or pump tube if the pump tube and drive motor are not connected to one another in a conductive
manner. The tank must be grounded separately if this was not already accomplished by the type of installation
(→Fig.27).
• Thehoselineconnectedtothedrumpump’spressurejointmaynotexceedaresistanceof106Ωbetween
theendttings.ThehoselinemustbecheckedandmarkedaccordingtoDINEN12115.
• Thebearing/sealmustbeprotectedfromraremalfunctions.Thisprotectivemeasureconsistsofllingthe
insideofthepumpwithuid.Theoperatormustcontinuouslymonitorthedrumpumptopreventraremal-
functions from occurring at the same time as an explosive atmosphere.
• The drum pump must not be used unattended. Dry running resp. idling of the pump has to be prevented.
• Whenthedrumpumpisused,alladditionalcomponentsttedtotheconnectingpart(coupling,drivemotor,
etc.) have to be outside of the container.
• Provide a motor protection and an on/off switch against automatically starting the pump when inserting the
plug.
• Electric connection in explosion hazard areas only with explosion proof plug or explosion proof terminal box.

Prevention of obvious misapplication (examples)
• Observe and comply with the operating limits of the pump in terms of temperature, pressure, delivery rate
andspeed(→contractdatasheet,→technicaldata).
• Thepowerconsumptionofthepumpincreaseswithincreasingviscosityoftheliquid.Topreventanoverload
ofthepump,couplingandmotor,complywiththepermissibleviscosity(→technicaldata).Alowerviscosity
is allowed.
• Do not use the pump tube to lift objects.
2.3 Specic danger

Each Lutz eccentric screw drum pump of series B70V-H SanitaryPlus comprises a universal, a 3-phase or a
compressedairmotorandapumptube.Theowrateanddeliveryheaddependontheselectedpumpsize.
This means that the most appropriate pump can be chosen for each individual application.
3.2.1 Drive units for type B70V-H-D SanitaryPlus
Three-phase drives
For series B70V-H-D SanitaryPlus several three-phase motors are available:

High leakage current!
Aradiointerferencelterinthefrequencyconvertercausesadditionalleakagecurrentthroughtheearthconductor.
Theearthleakagecurrentcanbebetween3.5and11mAdependingontheclockingfrequency.
Compressed air drives
Compressed air motors of type 4 DA, 6 DA or 8 DA rated at 0.45, 1.0 or 1.7 kW for 6 bar and 900 1/min. Operating
pressure max. 7 bar, recommended speed 200-900 1/min., air consumption 55, 80 or 130 Nm³/h, air connection
thread 1/4" NPT or 1/2" NPT.

4. Transport and storage
4.1 Transport
Unpacking and check of condition on delivery
►Unpackthepumptubeonreceiptandcheckfortransportdamages.
►Reporttransportdamagetothemanufacturerimmediately.
►Checkthattheconsignmentiscompleteasordered.
!WARNING
Danger of injury by falling objects!
►Foreachtransport,theclampingconnectionhastobecheckedforstrength.Otherwise,thetubemayrelease
from the pump tube and fall on people nearby.
►Whentransportingwithliftingequipment,ensuretheproperuseoftheliftingequipment.Observetheoperating
instructionsoftheliftingequipment.
4.2 Storage
!WARNING
Danger of injury and intoxication when handling hazardous liquids!
►Alwayswearprotectiveequipmentwhenworkingonthepump.
►Pumptubemustbecompletelyemptied.
►Storethepumpataprotectedplace.
5. Installation/Assembly and connection
!WARNING
The cylinder pin can become loose during transport and thus:
- block the pump or
- be thrown when switching on the pump.
►Tochecktheposition,turnthecouplinguntilthecylinderpinisvisiblethroughtheopening(→Fig.28).
