2. Safety
The manufacturer will not be held responsible for any damages resulting from non-compliance of the
overalldocumentation,inparticularfordamagesincaseofnon-complianceoftheoperatinginstructions.
2.1 General safety information
Observefollowingregulationsbeforeaccomplishingallactivities.
Product safety
Thepumpisconstructedinconformitywiththestateoftheartandapprovedsafety-relatedstandards.
Dangerhowevercanoccurduringuseforlifeandhealthoftheuserorthirdpartiesordamageofthe
pump and other material assets. Therefore:
• Operate the pump only in a technically sound state, for its proper use, and conscious of safety and
hazards taking into account these instructions.
• Ensure that these instructions and all associated applicable documents are complete, legible, and stored
in a place that personnel can access at all times.
• Refrainfromanymannerofworkingthatendangerspersonneloruninvolvedthirdparties.
• Inthecaseofasafety-relevantmalfunction,stopthepumpimmediatelyandenlistaresponsibleperson
to rectify the malfunction.
• Inadditiontotheoveralldocumentation,observethestatutoryorothersafetyandaccidentprevention
regulations,aswellasthevalidstandardsandguidelinesoftherespectiveoperatingcountry.
Modications
Unlessthemanufacturerhasprovideditsconsentinwriting,themanufacturerisnotliableforinterventions
performedbytheuser(modications)ontheproduct,suchasconversion,alteration,newdesign,etc.

Personnel qualication
• Theoperatingpersonnelisrequiredtobeatleast14yearsold.
• Ensurethatpersonneltaskedwithworkonthepumphavereadandunderstoodtheseinstructionsand
allassociatedapplicabledocuments,particularlysafety,maintenanceandservicinginformation,before
they start work.
• Clarify responsibilities, competencies and monitoring of the personnel.
• Ensurethatallworkiscarriedoutbytechnicalqualiedpersonnelonly:
- Assembly,servicing,maintenancework
- Work on the electrics
• Personneltobetrainedmustonlyworkonthepumpunderthesupervisionoftechnicalpersonnel.
Safety devices
• Providethefollowingsafetydevicesandensuretheirfunction:
- Withpossibleelectrostaticcharge:providethecorrespondingearthing.
Statutory warranty
• Duringtheguaranteeperiod,obtainthemanufacturer'spermissionformodications,maintenance
work or alteration.
• Use only original parts.
Duties of the personnel
• Observethenoticesonthepumpandmaintaintheminalegiblestate,e.g.rotationarrow,markingfor
uidconnections.
• Useprotectiveequipmentwherenecessary.
• Do not reach into the intake port of the pump tube.
• Only perform work on the pump during downtime.
• Ensure that the electric motor is disconnected before you carry out assembly and maintenance work.
• Aftercompletingalltheworkonthemotor,remountthesafetydevicesinaccordancewithspecications.
2.2 Proper use
Each Lutz eccentric screw pump of series B70H comprises a 3-phase or a compressed air motor and a
pumptube.Theowrateanddeliveryheaddependontheselectedpumpsize.Thismeansthatthemost
appropriatepumpcanbechosenforeachindividualapplication.Theapparatusisprovidedforcommercial
use only.
• Pumpisusedfornon-ammableandammableliquidsfrommobilevessels.
• Thepumpmayonlybeusedinareascoveredbytheapproval.Informationontheratingplatemust
beabsolutelyobserved.
• Thepumpmayonlybeusedtopumptheagreedliquids.(→contractdatasheet)orensurethatthe
pumpisresistanttotheliquidbeingpumped(→technical data, →Lutzresistancetable).

• Notethelimitvaluesfortemperatureandviscosityoftheliquidbeingpumped(→technicaldata).
• Thepumpmayonlybeoperatedwiththedischargeclosed,ifabypassvalvewithreturnlinehas
been installed.
• Ensurethatthesafetyvalvesfortheprotectionofthepumpagainstinadmissibleincreaseofpressure
are not higher set than the maximum operating pressure (→technicaldata).
• For the protection of the pump sealing the pump is not allowed to run dry. This must be permanently
controlled by the operator.
If the product and supplied accessories are used for other purposes than the intended purpose, it is the
responsibilityoftheusertocheckthesuitabilityandadmissibility.Productusenotconrmedinwriting
bythemanufacturerabsolvesthemanufacturerofanyliability.
Themanufacturerisnotliableforconsequencesofincorrecttreatment,use,maintenance,servicingand
operationoftheappliance,aswellasnormalwearandtear.Thesameappliesiffaultsarisefromintervention
orcongurationsonthepartoftheusernotconrmedbythemanufacturer.

2.2.2 Operation in hazardous location or pumping ammable liquids
!DANGER
Danger of explosion when using in explosion hazard area
Theclassicationofammableliquidsismadeaccordingtoregulation(EC)1272/2008(CLP).Whenpumping
ammableliquids,theoperationalsafetyregulationandthefollowingpointshavetobeobserved:
►Theoperatormustcreateanexplosionprotectiondocumentforhiseldofapplication.Thisdocument
mustindicatethedivisionoftheexplosiveareaintozones.Onlydevicesofcategory1maybeusedin
areasofzone0anddevicesofcategory1or2inareasofzone1.
iThepumpsareusedtopumpliquidproductsfrommobilevessels.Thepumpcorrespondsto
category 2 when used as intended.
• OnlyusepumpswithATEX-identication.
• Onlyoperatethepumpinlledcondition.
• Onlyuseexplosion-proofdrivemotors.Selectmotorssuitablefortherespectivesizewithapowerofupto
2 kW and a maximum speed of 900 rpm.
• OnlypumpammableliquidsofexplosionprotectiongroupsIIAandIIBand,dependingonthemarking,
temperature classes T1 to T4.
• The maximum ambient temperature must not be exceeded.
In case of marking II 2 G Ex h IIB T4 Gb: -20 up to +40 °C
In case of marking II 2 G Ex h IIB T3 Gb: -20 up to +60 °C
• The pump may only be installed horizontally.
• Pump may not be used stationarily.
• The maximum medium temperature of 100 °C must not be exceeded.
• Only use stators made of PTFE.
• Theoperatormustcontinuouslymonitorthepumpduringoperationtopreventthepumpfrom
pumpingagainstaclosedshut-odeviceandthuscausingtheuidremaininginthetanktoheatup
toimpermissiblelevels.Ifthiscannotbeprevented,abypassvalvewithreturnlinemustbeinstalled.
• Installthepumpwithoutrunpieceinclinedupwardsormountacheckvalveontheoutrunpieceinclined
downwards,topreventthetankfromdrainingandalsofromdryrunning(→chapter5.1).
• Pumpoperationmaycausetheowinguidstopickupanelectrostaticcharge.

• Beforestartingup,thepumpmustbeintegratedintotheequipotentialbonding,i.e.equipotential
bondingofthepumptubewiththetank,equipotentialbondingofthemotorwiththetankorwith
thepumptubeifpumptubeanddrivemotorarenotconductivelyconnectedwitheachother.The
containermustbegroundedseparatelyifnotalreadygivenbythetypeofinstallation.Establish
equipotentialbondingbetweencontainertobeemptiedandlled,e.g.withearthingleador
byconductivegroundwhichisconductivelyconnectedwithbothcontainers.Ifnecessary,other
accessoriesmustalsobeintegratedtotheequipotentialbonding(→Fig.1).

• Incaseatrolleyisused,itmustbeequippedwithconductivewheelsandmustbeincludedtothe
equipotentialbonding,togetherwithpumptubeanddrivemotor.Theconductivewheelsmustbekept
clean.
• The hose line connected to the pump’s pressure joint may not exceed a resistance of 106Ωbetweenthe
endttings.ThehoselinemustbecheckedandmarkedaccordingtoDINEN12115.
• Thebearing/sealmustbeprotectedagainstraremalfunctions.Thisprotectivemeasureconsistsof
llingtheinsideofthepumpwithuid.Theoperatormustcontinuouslycontrolthepumptoprevent
raremalfunctionsandsimultaneouslyexplosiveatmosphere.
• Thepumpmustnotbeusedunattended.Dryrunningresp.idlingofthepumphastobeprevented.
• During operation, the pump must be completely outside the container.
• Provideamotorprotectionandanon/oswitchagainstautomaticallystartingthepumpwheninserting
the plug.
• Electric connection in explosion hazard areas only with explosion proof plug or explosion proof terminal
box.
• Themaintenanceintervalsoftheballbearings mustbeobserved(→chapter 8, maintenance and
servicing).
• When assembling / disassembling the pump tube to / from the motor, check the coupling and the
synthetic ring for wear and replace, if necessary (→Fig.2).
• OnlyusemechanicalsealsprovidedbyLutzPumpenforthispump
when used in hazardous areas.
• Only motors and mechanical seals may be used which are suitable
foroperationintherespectivedirectionofrotation.

Prevention of obvious misapplication (examples)
• Observeandcomplywiththeoperatinglimitsofthepumpconcerningtemperature,pressure,
deliveryrate(→contract data sheet, →technicaldata).
• Thepowerconsumptionofthepumpincreaseswithincreasingviscosityoftheliquid.Topreventan
overloadofthepump,couplingandmotor,complywiththepermissibleviscosity(→technicaldata).
Alowerviscosityisallowed.
• Motors may only be operated mounted to the pump tube (→operatinginstructionsmotor).
• Use hoses only in perfect and tested condition (→operatinginstructionshoselines).

4. Transport and storage
4.1 Transport
Unpackingandcheckingconditionofdelivery
►Unpack the pump tube on receipt and check for transport damages.
►Report transport damages to the manufacturer immediately.
►Check that the consignment is complete as ordered.
!WARNING
Stator sleeve may release from the pump tube and fall on people
nearby!
►After each transport, the clamping connection has to be checked
(→Fig.3)forstrength.
4.2 Storage
!WARNING
Danger of injury and intoxication when handling hazardous
liquids!
►Alwayswearprotectiveequipmentwhenworkingonthepump.
►Complete emptying of pump tube.
►Store pump at a protected place.
5. Installation/Assembly and connection
!DANGER
Danger of injury and intoxication when handling hazardous
liquids!
►Valvespoolonthecontainermayonlybeopenedifpump,hose
andshut-ovalveareprofessionallymounted.Whenstartingup,
ensure leak tightness.
!WARNING
Danger of injury due to rotating stator!
►Do not start the pump without or with incorrectly mounted stator
sleeve(→chapter8.3).

!WARNING
Danger of injury at the openings of the pump - limbs can be
pulled in!
►Do not grip into the openings of the pump when the power
supply is connected (→Fig.4).
►In case of malfunction or incomprehensible downtime, always
disconnect the pump from the power supply.
!WARNING
Persons can fall over the pump, hose line, grounding cable or
wiring!
►Positionthepumpandtheaccessoriesvisiblyforallpersonsor
cordonoasucientareaaroundthepump.

Risk of injury by crushing!
►When mounting the motor on the pump tube, hold the motor
insuchawaythatnolimbscanbesqueezedbetweenthemotor
and the pump tube.
Thedrivemotorisconnectedtothepumpvia/usingfourscrews.Use
theboresintheange(→Fig.5).
►Before assembly the jaw-type coupling must be adjusted at
motor and pump side (→Fig.6-Item1).
►Mounting pump tube on the motor (→Fig.6,item2).

►Whenusedinexplosionhazardareasorwhenpumpingammableliquids,thepumpmustbe
mountedwithanupwardlyinclinedpumpoutlettopreventaccidentalemptyingofthecontainer(→
Fig.7a,b,c).Iftheorientationofthepumpoutletdoesnotmatch,loosenthelocknutandslightly
turn the pump tube. Then tighten the locknut again (→Fig.7d).Alternatively,youcanmounta
checkvalveatthepumpoutlet.
►Tighten screws (→Fig.8).
►Connect pump and container with suitable hoses.
5.2 Electrical connection of three-phase motors
!DANGER
Live mains connection!
Electric shock can kill you.
Theelectricalconnectionmayonlybecarriedoutbytrainedqualied
personnel.Followingregulationsmustbeobserved:
►All works must only be carried out when the motor is de-
energized. Protection switch must be set to OFF-position.
►Mainsvoltageandfrequencyareasspeciedontheratingplate
(→Fig.9).
►Dimension of the connecting cable must be adjusted to the
nominal current.
►The insulation of the connecting cable must be adjusted to the
environmentalconditions.

NOTICE
Incorrect rotating direction may damage the mechanical seal and lead up to leakage!
►For pumps with clockwise rotating direction-dependent mechanical seals (→Fig.10),motor’sdirection
of rotation must correspond to the direction of rotation arrow (→Fig.11).Reconnectthemotoras
necessary.

5.4 Mechanical loads on the pump tube
Thepumptube’sfunctioningandservicelifeareimpairedwhen
deformed by mechanical loads. For this reason, the outlet must not
besubjectedtocompressiveortensileforces.
►The bending moment MB at the outlet must not exceed 50 Nm (→
Fig.12).
►Avoidingoverloadofadapterandmotorbysupportingthepump
tubebetweenoutrunpieceandstatorsleeve(→Fig.18).
6. Operation

If connections are not properly or not at all tightened:
- it can come to splashing medium.
- itcancometoyingparts.
- thepumpmaystartmovinginanuncoordinatedmanner.
!WARNING

►Alwayswearprotectiveequipmentwhenworkingonthepump.
►Whenpumpingdangerousmedia(e.g.hot,explosive,poisonous,
dangeroustohealth)observesafetyregulationsforhandling
hazardous substances.
6.1 Suction funnel
►Highlyviscousliquidsmustbe abletoowquicklyenoughto
preventtheformationofsuctionfunnels(→Fig.15).

6.2 Direction of ow
Depending on the built-in mechanical seal, the pump can be operated in one or both directions.
Thedirectionofrotationofthemotordeterminestheconveyingdirectionofthepump(clockwise→Fig.
13, counter-clockwise →Fig.14).
6.3 Dry running
►Thepumpissaidtorundryifitcontinuestooperatewithoutpumpinganyliquidwhatsoever.Dry
runningmustbeavoided.Thiscanbeensuredbyremaininginattendanceorwiththeaidofsuch
technicalmeansasaowmonitor,etc.
6.4 Operation with closed discharge
!DANGER
Injury by ying parts!
TheeccentricscrewpumpB70Hisapositivedisplacementpump.Thepumpmustnotbeoperatedwith
closedshutoelements,suchasnozzle,valve,etc.Thegeneratedoverpressurecanleadtodamages.Make

8. Maintenance and servicing

►Complete emptying of pump tube.
8.1 Lubrication
NopartsoftheB70HLutzeccentricscrewpumpneedtobelubricatedatshortintervals.
The rolling bearings of the motor and the pump tube should be replaced after 8000 hours or 2 years of
operation. Exchange the lip seals of the bearing unit as well. Note the recommendation for lubricant in
the spare-parts list of the manufacturer.
8.2. Repairs
Thepumpmustbeswitchedoandrepairedimmediatelyifliquid
leaks out at the leakage port (→Fig.16).
►Repairs should only be made by the manufacturer or authorized
Lutz dealers.
►Only use original Lutz Pumpen spare parts. If other spare parts are
used, liability on the part of Lutz Pumpen is obsolete.
►Settingvaluesofthemechanicalsealmustbestrictlyadheredto
as this may result in impermissible heating.
