Important Information EN 14846 Certicate
For the assembly and installation of the INSTINCT by MACO system, you need the following documents:
› Instructions for use
› System folder for the corresponding door prole
› Assembly instructions
Instructions for use
The instructions for use contain important information on project planning, installation, commissioning,
operation and maintenance of the INSTINCT by MACO system. This document must be handed over to the
client/end user in the course of delivery.
System folder
The system folder contains prole-specic information about milling and drilling as well as information
on cable installation in the prole. In addition, please also note the fabrication guidelines of the prole
manufacturer!
Assembly instructions
The assembly instructions contain prole-independent information for the correct assembly of the
INSTINCT by MACO system. These instructions include the work steps in the factory and the work steps on
the construction site.

Work steps in the door frame
1. Milling checks
!PAY ATTENTION TO THE SYSTEM FOLDER
For the positioning of the individual components
and the drilling and milling patterns, the
specications of the prole-specic system
folder must be observed.
Check the milling and, if necessary, remove
any burr to avoid damaging the cables.

2. Connection of INSTINCT system cable and Bluetooth module
!NOTES ON CONNECTING AND
DISCONNECTING THE PLUGS
Connect the plug to the socket until the plug
snaps into place.
By pressing the protruding tab and pulling out
the plug at the same time, the connection is
released again.
1Feed the INSTINCT system cable for frame-side
assembly 6000 mm into the hole provided for this
purpose.
2 When using an INSTINCT Bluetooth module, it must be
placed and wired at the recommended positions (see
system folder) before the INSTINCT Guard and Guard+
are wired.

Feed all system cables into the corresponding millings
according to the system folder.
!NOTES
Each INSTINCT component in the door frame
must be connected to 2 cables to ensure the
proper functioning of the system.
1Remove the seal.
2Run the two cables through the seal.
3Plug the cables into the lock.
4Reattach the seal to the lock.
Connect all INSTINCT Guard / Guard+ (except the top / last
one) according to the following procedure and position them
in the milled holes.

Connect an INSTINCT system cable to the upper / last
INSTINCT Guard / Guard+. On the second port, a termination
cable must be connected.

Recommendations for suitable screws can be
found in the prole-specic system folder.
!ASSEMBLY NOTES
1. Make sure that the cables are not trapped or
damaged.
2. Make sure that the cables are not damaged
when screwing in the INSTINCT Guard /
Guard+ (for example, by too long screws).
3. Do not overtighten the screws to prevent the
INSTINCT Guard / Guard+ from twisting and to
avoid stiness. This especially applies to the
xing of the hooks – over-tightening may
impair proper function.

Adjust the pin position according to the
specications of the prole-specic system folder
to ensure proper rebate air compensation.
The assembly of the components is hereby
completed. On pages 29 and 38, the
commissioning with / without Test Kit continues.

Recommendations for suitable screws can

!ASSEMBLY NOTES
Do not overtighten the screws to avoid
twisting or deformation of the INSTINCT
striker plates.

takes place only during commissioning, as
seen on pages 65 and 66.
