Always switch

the cleaner beforeinsertion or removal
of the batterycartridge.
To
remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from the
cleaner while pressing the buttons on both sides of the
cartridge.
To
insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the
battery cartridge with the groove inthe housing and slip
it into place. Always insert
it
all the way until it locks in
place with a little click. If not, it may accidentally fall out
of the cleaner, causing injury to you or someone around
you.
Do
not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. If
the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being
insertedcorrectly.

Always install the set plate when using battery cartridges

or 1202A. Installthe set plateonthe cleaner with
the screw provided.

Charging
Charge the battery cartridge with your Makita charger prop-
erly beforeuse.
Followingbatteriescan be usedfor this cleaner;

CAUTION:
Always be sure that the dust bag or paper filter is
installed properly in the cleaner before use. Improper
installationmayallow dust to enter the motor, resultingin
malfunctionof the cleaner.
Always switch
off
the cleaner after each use to prevent
damageto the cleaner and
to
lengthenthe service life of
the batteries.

To
start the cleaner, slide the switch lever forward
to
the
“I”
position.
To
stop the cleaner, slide the switch lever back to the
“0
position.

Always be sure that the cleaner is switched off and the
battery cartridge is removed before carrying out any
work onthe cleaner.
Dust
disposal
A
CAUTION:
Empty the cleaner before
it
becomes too full, or the
suctionforce weakens.
Depressthe buttonsand openthe front cover.

Take the dust bagout of the cleanercarefully
so
that the con-
tents will not spill out.
Emptythe contents out of the dust bag.
Also
empty out the dust insidethe cleaner itself.Failure
to
do
so
may cause the sponge filter to be clogged or the motorto
be damaged.

Insert the holder of the dust bag all the way into the slots in
the cleanercavity.

CAUTION:
Forgetting to install the dust bag, failure
to
insert the
holder of the dust bagallthe way into the slots or usinga
broken or ripped bag, may allow dust
to
get into the
motor.This may result in motor failure.

CAUTION:
Always be sure that the cleaner is switched off and the
battery cartridge is removed before carrying out any
work on the cleaner.
After use
When storing the cleaner, hang it from a nail using the con-
venient hanger inback.
Cleaning
From time to time wipe
off
the outside (cleaner body) of the
cleaner usinga clothdampenedin soapy water.
Never use gasoline, thinner or the like. Discoloration or
cracks may result.
Wash the dust bag in soapy water occasionally. Dry it out
thoroughly before use. An insufficientlydried bag may cause
poor suctionand shorten the service life of the motor.
To maintainproduct SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs,any
other maintenance or adjustment should be performed by
Makita Authorized
or
Factory Service Centers, always using
Makitareplacement parts.
Recyclingthe Battery
The only way to dispose
of
a Makita battery is
to
recycle it.
The law prohibitsany other method
of
disposal.
To recyclethe battery:

Removethe battery from the
tool
