The information in this user manual applies to the shown products
provided that the products have not been modied or customized
and that the products have been used as recommended in this user
manual.
If the costumer changes, repairs or uses the product in other combi-
nations than recommended by master care A/S the CE-approval no
longer applies and the guarantee becomes void.
In case of doubt, contact master care A/S.
MDR (EU) 2017/745:
Products in this user manual is CE-approved and follows the harmo-
nized standards. This means that the products are in compliance with
the essential health and safety directives. The product(-s) comply with
the standards in the Medical Device Regulation MDR (EU) 2017/745 –
Class 1.
The intended use of the product/-s:
The intended use for the product is to reduce friction between the
user and the mattress to make it easier for the helper and gentler for
the user whilst turning, moving up/ downwards, and moving to sitting
position on the edge of the bed. This product should always be used in
combination with a Master Turner from master care a/s.
Proper use of the product:
The combination of the Mattress Cover and Master Turner from master
care A/S constitutes a turning system, which can be used for users
with a decrease in function where transfers in bed and between beds
can be difcult.
Warning:
Always make sure not to position the user to close to the edge of the
mattress if sitting on top of the Mattress Cover since this poses a risk
of sliding off/down. If the user is transferred to a sitting position on
the edge of the bed, always make sure the knees have a 90-degree
angle, the feet can reach the oor and to have enough non-skid under
the user´s thighs.
Risk assessment:
Always make a risk assessment and a functional assessment of the
user prior to using the product. This way using the product for trans-
ferring or moving a user, is ergonomic and legally sound.
Knowledge of the product/transferring:
It is important that the user of the product has been properly instruc-
ted in the use of the product and has read the user manual thoroughly
prior to using the product.
master care A/S provide education in the use of products and on our
website all user manuals can be found.
Life span:
The expected life span of products with nylon sliding material with
daily wear and tear and washing averagely is 1-3 years. The products
life span depends on the use, load and how often it is washed/dried.
Products without nylon sliding material have a much longer life span.
Products with insufcient friction reduction, defect seams, broken
material or other deciencies must be discarded. This way you will
always keep a sound and healthy work environment for both helper
and user.
Make visual inspections frequently and preferably before every use.
Guarantee:
master care A/S provide a 2-year guarantee covering material defects
and manufacturing defects if the product has been used correctly.
Unintended events and injuries when misusing the products:
Unintended events must always be reported to the correct national
authority and to master care A/S or the distributor.
master care A/S takes no responsibility for personal injuries or product
damages if the product(-s) have been used in contravention of the by
the manufacturer recommended intended purpose or proper use of the
product.

Mounting the Vario Covers with D-rings:
9. Tighten the Cover by holding the D-ring with
one hand and pulling the end of the long strap
with the other. Repeat on all 4 corners.
8. Pass the strap back through one of the D-rings.
6. Your Turn System is ready.5. Place the corresponding Master Turner on
top of the Mattress Cover with the nylon side
downwards.
7. Place the Cover on top of the mattress. Slide
the long strap under neath the corner of the
mattress, without lifting the mattress. Pass the
strap through the 2 D-rings.
3. Vario Cover L: If the Cover has sliding aps,
it is your choice to which side they should open
– left or right. The anti-skid should be on the
top side. Wrap the elastic band around each of
the corners of the mattress without lifting the
mattress.
4. Common for all covers: Slide the wings on the
middle of the cover under the mattress without
lifting the mattress. This keeps the cover in place
during repositioning.
2. Vario Cover M: Placer the Mattress Cover
with the black sliding material from the top of
the back rest and down. The white material at
foot end. Wrap the elastic band around each of
the corners of the mattress without lifting the
mattress.
1. Vario Cover S: Placer the Mattress Cover on
top of the mattress. Because the sliding material
is not located in the middle of the Vario Cover,
you can chose which end of the cover is best to
place towards the head of the bed for optimal
location of the sliding material under the user.
Wrap the elastic band around each of the cor-
ners of the mattress without lifting.

Remove the sliding ap manually (2 helpers):
Remove the sliding ap using the ceiling lift (1 helper):
17. Let the ap hang down visibly. This way it is
very clear that the Master Turner is locked and
cannot slide on this part of the Mattress Cover.
15. Slide the straps towards the Helper A using
the cavity under e.g., the neck, lower back, knee,
or over the heel until resistance is felt.
14. Helper A grips the Master Turner and tips the
user slightly. Helper B loosens the white strap
and folds them on top of the ap and slides them
towards Helper A.
16. Helper B pulls/holds the Master Turner, while
Helper A grips the white straps and pulls them
out.
The sliding ap is removed.
12. Move to the opposite side, grab the straps,
and pull them out. If the traps cannot be reached,
connect the hoist, elevate, and pull the straps.
Let the ap hang down visibly.
13. Place the user the correct in bed.
11. Open the two pieces of Hook-and-Loop-Tape
on the sliding ap. Place the two white strap on
top of the ap and slide them under the user e.g.,
under the knee, lower back, or neck. Lower the
hoist. Pull up the bed rail.
10. Are you doing the transfer alone or if the user
is heavy, use the ceiling hoist. Lift the bed rail on
the opposite side. Connect the Master Turner to
the hoist and elevate the user slightly.

26. Lower the hoist and detach the Master Turn-
er. Elevate the bed rail and walk to the opposite
side.
25. Place the hands on the bilayed ap. Slide
the ap under the user from the middle and
smoothen it out towards the sides. Repeat
several times until resistance is felt.
23. Helper A slides the ap in place via the white
straps. Hereby all sliding properties are restored.
22. If Helper A cannot reach the white straps
Helper B can tip the user slightly to the side, if
necessary, bend the user´s legs and move the
arm towards the chest.
24. Elevate the bed rail and go to opposite side.
Connect the Master Turneren to the ceiling hoist
and elevate slightly.
20. Now bring the two white straps together and
slide them under the user on top of the Mattress
Cover. Use the cavities under e.g., the neck,
lower back, knee, or over the heels.
21. Helper A slowly lets go of the Master
Turneren and Helper B grabs it. This way the two
white straps become reachable for Helper A.
19. Slide the ap under the user from the middle
and smoothen it out towards the sides. Repeat
several times until resistance is felt.
18. Helper A holds the Master Turneren from
the opposite side to make room for Helper B to
reposition the ap. Fold the ap on top of itself
and slide it under the user.

33. The helper pulls the ap backwards whereby
the black anti-skid surface stabilizes and locks
the Master Turner and thus secures the user´s
sitting position.
32. The helper loosens the white straps and
slides them backwards on top of the ap.
30. After sliding the ap under the user, slide the
user a bit to the side, towards the helper. From
the opposite side pull out the ap and reconnect
the Hook-and-Loop-Tape to the Mattress Cover.
29. Place the palms of the hands in the fold of
the ap. Slide the ap under the user from the
middle and smoothen it out towards the sides.
Repeat several times until resistance is felt.
31. If the 10 cm anti-skid does not stabilize the
user enough when sitting on the edge of the bed,
use the ap in the middle. Place the Mattress
Cover so that the ap slides away from the
user´s legs.
28. Connect the ceiling hoist and elevate the
user slightly. Place the ap bilayed between the
Mattress Cover and the Master Turneren. Put on
the Hand Master on one or both hands.
27. Lift the Master Turneren to see if it is possi-
ble to reach the white straps. If not, connect the
hoist and elevate the user slightly.
Pull the white straps to straighten out the ap.
Reconnect the Hook-and-Loop-Tape and all
sliding properties are restored.

Using wedges and cushions with the Vario Cover:

42. To stabilize the sitting position the Position-
ing Wedges - XS are essential under the thighs.
The wedges angles combined with the anti-skid
surface of the wedge supports the optimal
position. The pelvis can still be moved although
the user does not slide down in bed.
41. Always place the user´s pelvis correctly in
the bed according to the head and midtsection,
before placing the postioning cushions and
wedges.
39. Removing the ap under the pelvis should
only take place after a thorough skin assessment
and risk assessment of the user’s skin. A better
alternative is using Positioning Wedges – XS
under the thighs, Positioning Cushion – S under
the feet and possibly Positioning Wedges – M
along the sides of the upper body to stabilize the
user and minimizing the risk of tissue damage.
38. SHEAR INJURIES: Locking the aps will lead
to no micro movements for helpers or user. The
Master Turner should not be locked over time,
as this can lead to shear and tissue injuries for
users with sensitive skin.
40. It can be an advantage to use strategically
placed positioning cushions and wedges instead
of the aps. The use of cushions and wedges
can reduce the risk of tissue and shear injuries
caused by misuse of the Mattress Cover and
inappropriate positioning.
36. Vario 2: This cover has permanent sliding
properties under the pelvis and aps under the
upper body and legs. This makes it possible to
stabilize the upper body briey during dressing,
ADL, ect.. Long term removal of the aps is not
recommended due to the risk of shear and tissue
injuries. It is recommended to use the Master
Comfort cushions and wedges for positioning
over longer periods of time – to optimize the
sitting and lying position and to optimize the
comfort.
37. The cover can lock under respectably legs,
upper body and pelvis when removing the ap.
Long term removal of the aps is not recom-
mended due to the risk of shear and tissue
injuries. It is recommended to use the Master
Comfort cushions and wedges to optimize the
longer lasting sitting and laying positions and to
increase the comfort.
35. Vario Cover 1: With a ap under the pelvis to
lock the Master Turner. The rest of the cover has
permanent sliding properties. When sitting make
sure to elevate the knee rest and have support
under the feet, along with wedges and cushions
to minimize the risk of shear injuries under the
pelvis.
34. ST Cover: Cover without aps. The cover
does not have the ability to lock the Master Turn-
er towards the Mattress Cover. This minimizes
the risk of shear injuries for the user in case of
misuse. As an alternative cushions and wedges
can be used.

44. The wedges along the sides create great
body perception and awareness and they reduce
the risk of the upper body sliding to one side.
Place the wedges under the Master Turner to
support the user´s movements, but still creating
a safe environment.
43. A Positioning Cushion under the feet gives
the user a great body perception and awareness
along with the opportunity to adjust the position.
It reduces the sliding down in bed and the risk of
contracture of the calf muscles. Fully elevate the
knee rest and elevate the back rest afterwards.

Gentle washing signicantly prolongs the

Fabric softener:
Never use fabric softener as this will reduce
the sliding properties signicantly.
Maintenance:
Make visual inspections frequently and
preferably before every use. Pay attention to
torn fabric, seams and straps. Products with
high friction or other deciencies must be
discarded.
Dry Tumbling:
This product may only be dry tumbled gently
and at max. 40 ºC.
Airdrying prolongs the durability signicantly.

Surface cleaning:
The surface of this product can be cleaned
with a wet cloth and soap.
