1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 General an Safety Information
 For use in dr environments onl .
 This product uses aAcid batter . Dispose of according to local laws and regulations.
 Read and understand all operating instructions before using this product.Keep this manual for future
reference.
 Allow sufficient warm up time. Turn the scale on and allow up to 10 minutes for internal components to
stabilize before weighing.
 Record the weight shortl after placing a load on the platter. Leaving loads in place for extended periods ma
var the load cell’s output signature and ma result in a less accurate reading.
 Avoid extended exposure to extreme heat or cold. Optimum operation is at normal room temperature. See
operating temperature range in the specifications table. Allow the scale to acclimate to room temperature
before using.
 When storing the scale for extended periods, the batter must be charged ever 90 da s to avoid premature
performance degradation. Over time, the operating time per charge will degrade. If the operating time is no
longer acceptable even after recharging, the batter must be replaced.
 Electronic scales are precision instruments. Do not operate near cell phones, radios, computers or other
electronic devices that emit radio frequencies that ma cause unstable readings.

1.3.1 Display
 WEIGHT - Weight on platform
 Zero - Scale is zeroed, gross weight is 0, tare is 0

2. OPERATIONS
2.1 Turing Scale On/Off an Weighing
1) Place the scale on a flat, stable surface. Level the scale using the leveling bubble at the lower left side of
the displa .
2) With the weighing platter empt , turn on power switch (located underneath on the left-hand side of the
scale). Allow 10 minutes for the scale to warm up before use for optimum results.
3) Press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to power on the scale. The self-check will run and the scale will displa a
zero reading. The scale is now read for weighing.
4) Place objects on center of the scale platter and read the weight on the indicator.
5) To power off the scale, press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke for 4 seconds.
2.2 Change Unit of Measures
To change the weighing unit of measure, press the Unit ke to toggle between kg and lb.
2.3 Tare
This scale allows for both a manuall entered pre-set tare weight, as well as a “weighed” tare weight.
1) To enter a weighe tare:
a) Place an empt container on the platter and press the Tareke .The displa will return to zero,
eliminating the weight of the container. The Zero light will go off and the Tare light will be lit.
b) To clear the weighed tare, remove all weight from the scale. The displa will show a negative weight.
Press the TARE ke to return the displa to zero, eliminating the weight of the container. The Tare light
will go off and the Zero light will be lit.
2) To manually enter a known tare:
a) Use the number ke s to input the tare weight. Your entr will be displa ed in the “WEIGHT” displa
window. Then press the Tare ke to confirm or press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit.
Example: With the platter empt , entering 100g and pressing the Tare ke will displa “ 



 ” kg.
b) To recall the previousl stored tare weight, press the RC.PLU ke . Press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to
return to weighing.
c) To clear the manuall entered tare weight, (enter “0” and) press the Tare ke to confirm.
NOTE:
1) If the tare weight exceeds the number of displa ed digits (e.g. “ 



 ”kg), “ 

 ” will be
displa ed in WEIGHT window, but the tare function still works.
2) The previousl stored tare weight can onl be recalled with the RC.PLU ke in tare setting mode.

2.4Counting
Use this mode to count parts of uniform weight. The indicatordetermines the quantit based on the average
weight of a single part.All parts must be uniform in weight for accurate measurement.
Establishing the Piece Weight (PWT)
Get the PWT by weighing a sample of known quantity
1) Place a known quantit of objects onto the platter and press the PCWT/SPL ke for 4 seconds to enter
piece weight calculation mode.
2) The WEIGHT window will displa the weight, the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 ”
(Sample Pieces), and the COUNT window will displa the known quantit that ou will input.
3) Use the number ke s to input the known piece quantit . Press the Enter ke to confirm.
Input a known PWT
1) With the platter empt , press and release the PCWT/SPL ke to enter piece weight entr mode.
2) The WEIGHT window will displa zeroes, the COUNT window will displa “ 

 ” (Piece Weight), and
the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa the piece weight that ou will input.
3) Use the number ke s to input the known piece weight. Press the Enter ke to confirm.
Begin Counting
Place the parts on the scale and read the count. If a container is used,be sure to tare the empt container first.
NOTE:
1) The total load weight has to be greater than 20*d, where d is the Readabilit that is written at the top left
corner of the displa . An weight under 20*d will likel result in inaccurate counting.
2) The piece weight must be greater than the minimum piece weight (see Specifications table) or a
“ 

 ” error will be displa ed when the Enter ke is pressed.
3) In establishing the PWT mode, press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode without storing the piece
quantit or weight.
4) The limited number of displa digits ma displa rounding in some cases. As such, if ou manuall divide
the displa ed total weight b the displa ed piece weight, it ma not equal the displa ed piece quantit .
Despite this, the displa ed piece quantit is correct.
2.5Accumulation
Use this mode to totalize the displa ed values. Accumulation data(count and number of accumulations) is
stored in memor forreview.
Accumulate the values of count
In counting mode, press theAccke to add the displa ed value to the accumulated total.
The indicator will displa “ A ” in the WEIGHT window, the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa the times of
accumulation instances, and the COUNT window will displa the number of accumulated piece quantit .
Recall the accumulated values
Press and hold theAccke for 4 seconds to recall the accumulated values. The WEIGHT window will

 ”, the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa the times of accumulation instances, and the
COUNT window will displa the accumulated quantit .
Clear the accumulated values
To clear accumulated quantities, press and hold the0/Clearke while the accumulated values are being
displa ed
NOTE:
1) To avoid duplicating a value for a same load, the accumulation function requires the original load to be
removed (platform weight to drop below the minimum weight) before a new value can be accumulated.
2) Powering off the scale will also clear the accumulated values.
3) Accumulated quantities or instances over 999999 will displa “ 

 ”.
2.6Check Weighing (Data Compare)
Use this mode to determine if the quantit of a sample is within prescribed limits.
Checkweighing limits
In counting mode, press the Hi/Lo ke to enter this mode.
Edit the I setting
The WEIGHT window will show the current weight and the PIECE WEIGHT window will show “ 

 ”
(High limit pieces). The COUNT window will show an previousl stored upper limit.
Use the number ke s to input the upper piece quantit limit (hold the 0/Clear ke to delete all). Press the
Enter ke to confirm.
Edit the LO setting
The WEIGHT window will continue to show the current weight and the PIECE WEIGHT window will show
“ 

 ” (Lower limit pieces). The COUNT window will show an previousl stored lower limit. Use the
number ke s to input the lower piece quantit limit (hold the 0/Clear ke to delete all). Press the Enter ke
to confirm.
Begin checkweighing
The HI, OK or LO lights indicate Check Weighing status.
In counting mode, place a sample on the scale and read the quantit .
For quantit less than the LOW limit, the LO light is lit.
Forquantit greater than the LOW limit and less than the HIGH limit, theOK light is lit.
For quantit greater than the HIGH limit, the HI light is lit.
Exit Checkweighing Mode
To exit the checking mode, press theZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit and back to weighing mode.

NOTE:
1) Limits will be stored in memor until the are modified according to the above steps.
2) Limits should be: Upper limit ≥lower limit>0. If the upper limit is less than lower limit or if the upper limit
is set as zero, check weighing is disabled.
3) To turn check weighing off, follow the above instructions and change the upper limit to zero.
2.7 Storing Piece Weights an Tares into Memory
This scale can store up to 256 piece weights and tares, allowing the user to quickl recall stored values when
switching between products.
1) In normal weighing mode, press the ST.PLU ke to enter this mode. The WEIGHT window will displa
“ 

 ” and the COUNT window will displa “ 

 ”. The PIECE WEIGHT window will displa the input
address data to be entered.
2) Use the number ke s to select an address (001-256) for the piece weight and tare that ou will input. Press
the Enter ke to confirm.
3) The COUNT window will displa “ 

 ” and the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa the last 6 characters
of an previousl stored address name. Use the number ke s to input the address name (max length of 16
characters). Press the Enter ke to confirm and go to the next step.
NOTE: Seepage 12for displa and character ke entr definitions. Pressing a ke multiple times quickl will
c cle through the available characters for that ke . Pausing will select that character and move to the next
character.
4) The PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 ” and the COUNT window will displa “ 

 ” (grams) or
“ 

 ” (pounds). Use the Unit ke to select the unit of measure, press the Enter ke to confirm.
5) The COUNT window will displa “ 

 ” (an unknown tare weight) or “ 

 ” (a known tare weight)
and the PIECE WEIGHT window will show an previousl stored tare weight. Use the 0ke or the 1ke to
select , press the Enter ke to confirm.
a) If ou selected“ 

 “to measure the tare weight, empt the weighing platter, the Zero light should
be lit. Place an empt container on the platter. The container weight will displa in the PIECE WEIGHT
window. Press the Enter ke to store the tare into memor .
b) If ou selected“ 

 ” to enter a known tare weight, an previousl stored tare weight for this
address will be shown in PIECE WEIGHT window. Use the number ke s to enter the new tare and
press the Enter ke to confirm.
6) The COUNT window will displa “ 

 ” (an unknown piece count) or “ 

 ” (a known piece count). Use
the 0ke or use the 1ke to select, press the Enter ke to confirm.
a) If ou selected“ 

 ”to calculate the piece weight, the COUNT window will show “ 

 ” (SAMPLE).
Place samples on platter and the PIECE WEIGHT window will show the sample’s net weight. Press
the Enter ke . The COUNT window will then show “ 

 ” (PIECES) and the PIECE WEIGHT window
will show an previousl stored piece count for that address. Use the number ke s to enter the new
piece count and press the Enter ke to confirm.
b) If ou selected“ 

 ” to enter a known piece weight, the COUNT window will show “ 

 ”(piece
weight) and an previousl stored piece weight for this address will be shown in PIECE WEIGHT
window. Use the number ke s to enter the new piece weight and press the Enter ke to confirm.
7) The scale will move back to step 1 to enter the next address number and store information.

2.8 Recalling Piece Weights an Tares from Memory
1) In normal weighing mode, press the RC.PLU ke to enter this mode. The WEIGHT window will displa
“ 

 ” (RECALL) and the COUNT window will displa “ 

 ”. The PIECE WEIGHT window will displa
the input address data to be entered.
2) Use the number ke s to select an address for the piece weight and tare that ou will input. Addresses
between 1-256 are valid. Press the Enter ke to confirm or press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode
without recalling the address.
3) The stored weighing unit of measure, tare weight, and piece weight for that address will be used. If the
address ou entered did not contain stored data, “ 

 ” will be displa ed in the COUNT window.
2.9 Set LEDBrightness
In normal weighing mode, press and hold the ZERO/ON/OFFand 1ke s for 3 seconds. The WEIGHT window
will displa “ 

 ”, the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 ”, and the COUNT window will
displa the brightness setting. Use the number ke s to enter the desired brightness (1 - 3) and press the
Enter ke to confirm. Press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
2.10 Auto-off Timer
To adjust the Auto-Off time setting, start from normal weighing mode and press and hold the
ZERO/ON/OFFand 2ke s for 3 seconds. The WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 ”, the PIECE WEIGHT
window will displa “ 

 ”, and the COUNT window will displa the auto-off time. Use the number ke s to
enter the desired auto-off time (1 - 30 minutes) and press the Enter ke to confirm. An auto-off setting of 0
minutes will disable the auto-off feature. Press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
2.11 View Battery Voltage an Internal ADC
In normal weighing mode, press and hold the ZERO/ON/OFFand3ke s for 3 seconds. The PIECE WEIGHT
window will displa “ 

 ” and the WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 .x.x
.x.x.x.x
.x.x” where x.x V is the batter
voltage. If the scale is using AC power, the stepped down line voltage will be shown. The COUNT window will
displa the internal ADC code. Press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
2.12 SetData an Time
To adjust the date and time settings, start from normal weighing mode and press and hold the
ZERO/ON/OFFand5ke s for 3 seconds. The WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 ”, the PIECE WEIGHT
window will displa “ AtE ”, and the COUNT window will displa the date in YY.MM.DD format. Use the
number ke s to enter the desired date and press the Enter ke to confirm and continue to the time setting, or
press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit.
The WEIGHT window will continue to displa “ 

 ”, the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 ”
(time), and the COUNT window will displa the time in HH.MM.SS format. Use the number ke s to enter the
desired time and press the Enter ke to confirm. Press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
2.13 Enter Scale I entification Number
To enter an ID number for this scale (this is helpful when exporting data from multiple scales), start from

normal weighing mode and press and hold the ZERO/ON/OFFand 6ke s for 3 seconds. The WEIGHT
window will displa “ 

 ”, the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ i ”, and the COUNT window will
displa the current ID code (default is 000000 ). Use the number ke s to enter the desired ID code and press
the Enter ke to confirm. Press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
2.14 Enter Scale Business Name
To enter a business name for this scale (this can be printed when exporting data), start from normal weighing
mode and press and hold the ZERO/ON/OFFand 7ke s for 3 seconds. The WEIGHT window will displa
“ 

 ”, and the PIECE WEIGHT and COUNT windows will displa the last 12 characters of the business
name. Use the number ke s to input the business name (max length of 20 characters). Press the
ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
NOTE: Seepage 12for displa definitions and character ke entr definitions. Pressing a ke multiple times
quickl will c cle through the available characters for that ke . Pausing will select that character and advance
to the next.
3. CALIBRATION
1) In normal weighing mode, press and hold the ZERO/ON/OFF and 0 ke s for more than 3s to enter the
calibration mode.
2) After entering into the mode, the WEIGHT window will displa “ 

 ” or “ 

 ”, which means the
calibration switch is on or off. If the calibration switch is off, the following calibration steps cannot be
entered. If the calibration switch is on, the scale is read for calibration and the calibration parameter can
be saved. The PIECE WEIGHT window displa s “ 

 ” or “ 

 ” for the calibration unit chosen, the
WEIGHT window displa s“ ------ ”.
3) Use the UNIT ke to choose the calibration unit kg or lb (the corresponding unit indicator will be lit), press
the ENTER ke to confirm the unit and go to the next step.

 ”, PIECE WEIGHT window displa s “ !

stops flashing, press the ENTER ke to confirm the zero point calibration.

9) After the calibration completes, the scale will re-initialize to be read for normal weighing.

During calibration process, use the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit the mode
If there is an error occurred, the scale will displa “ 

 ”, press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit the
calibration mode and re-perform calibration.
4. SERIAL COMMUNICATION DETAILS
The default baud rate and data format in this scale are 9600 and 8N1.
1) In normal weighing mode, press and hold the ZERO/ON/OFFand4ke s for 4 seconds. The WEIGHT window
will displa “ 

 ”, the PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ #!#

displa the current baud rate. Use the number ke s to select the desired baud rate:
1=1200bps
2=2400bps
3=4800bps
4=9600bps
5=19200bps
Press the Enter ke to confirm, or press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
2) The PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ #!#

selected data format. Use the number ke s to choose the desired data format:
1 = 8N1(8 data bits, no check digit, 1 start bit, 1stop bit)
2 = 7O1 (7 data bits, 1 even check digit, 1 start bit, 1stop bit)
3 = 7E1(7 data bits, 1 odd check digit, 1 start bit, 1stop bit)
Press the Enter ke to confirm and go to the next step, or press the ZERO/ON/OFF ke to exit this mode.
3) The PIECE WEIGHT window will displa “ #!#

displa the selected communication format. Use the number ke s to choose the desired data format:
0 = No communication

6.2 Battery an Charging
When “

” is displa ed, the batter must be recharged. Plug in the AC power adapter to recharge the
batter . The scale ma continue to be used on AC power during charging. Full charging time is approximatel
10-12 hours.
Batter life and recharge time will var with use. Over time, the operating time per each full charge will degrade.
If the operating time is no longer acceptable, the batter must be replaced. When storing the scale for extended
periods, the batter must be charged ever 90 da s to avoid premature performance degradation.
