Proper Use of Tool
This sander is designed for sanding all types of materials i.e. metals, wood, stone, plastics, etc. using
abrasive designed for this purpose. Do not use this sander for any other purpose than that specied
withoutconsultingthemanufacturerorthemanufacturer’sauthorizedsupplier.Donotusebackingpads
that have a working speed less than 10,000 RPM free speed. Only use MIRKA backing pad 150mm (6”)
Code: 8292605011, 125mm 130g (5”) Code: 8292502511 that are designed for optimal performance with
the brake seal. Never mount a backing pad without distance washer. Other backing pad may reduce
performance and will increase vibrations. The cooling air vents on the housing must always be free
ofblockagesandcleantoensureaircirculation.Anymaintenanceorrepairworkrequiringthemotor
housing to be opened may only be carried out by an authorized service center.
Work Stations
The tool is intended to be operated as a hand held tool. It is always recommended that the tool should be
usedwhenstandingonasolidoor.Itcanbeinanypositionbutbeforeanysuchuse,theoperatormust
beinasecurepositionhavingarmgripandfootingandbeawarethatthesandercandevelopatorque
reaction. See the section “Operating Instructions”.
How to Get Started
Unpacking, check that the tool is complete without any transport damages. A damaged tool shall not be used.
Before using, check that the pad are correctly mounted and tightened. Connect the power cord to the
sander.Connectthepowercordtoagroundedoutlet(220-240VAC,50Hz).
In order to take the full power out of this tool it is recommended to use it together with the Mirka vacuum
cleaner 912/915 (or other suited dust extraction unit) and Mirka Net Sanding products. The combination
of MIRKA sanders, net sanding products and Mirka vacuum cleaner are the base of MIRKA dust-free
sanding solutions.
The power cord from the sander is in this application connected to the mains supply in the front of the
vacuum cleaner. By connecting the sanders power cord to the outlet on the vacuum cleaner makes it
possibletouseauto-startfunctiononvacuumcleaner.

Operating Instructions
• Thetoolisintendedtobeoperatedasahandheldtool.Thetoolcanbeusedinanyposition.Note!The
sandercandevelopatorquereactionwhenstarted.
• Makesurethesanderisswitchedo.Selectasuitableabrasiveandsecureittothebackingpad.Be
careful and center the abrasive on it. For optimal use of the machine we recommend a MIRKA backing
pad 150mm (6”) Code: 8292605011, 125mm 130g (5”) Code: 8292502511and Mirka Net Sanding product.
• SwitchonthesanderbypressingtheOn/OkeyFigure1.ThesanderLEDisnowgreen.
• Thesandercannowbestartedbypressingthelever.
• Thespeedcanbeadjustedbetweenthe4000andmaxRPMbyadjustingthepositionofthelever.
• ThemaxRPMcanbeadjustedbypressingtheRPM+orRPM-Figure1.Everypressaddsorremoves
1000 RPM until it reaches the limits. The RPM can be adjusted in the range 4,000 to 10,000 RPM.
• Thetool hastwo modesof controllingthe speed.In thedefault modethe speedcan beadjusted
linearly by adjusting the position of the lever. In the other mode the speed is xed to the adjusted max
RPMalwayswhenthetoolisrunning.BypressingsimultaneouslybothRPM+andRPM-keysthetool
toggles between the two controlling modes.
• Whensandingalwaysplacethetoolontheworksurfacethenstartthetool.Alwaysremovethetool
from the work surface before stopping. This will prevent gouging of the work surface due to excess
speed of the abrasive.
• WhensandingisnishedturnothesanderbypressingtheOn/Okey.ThesanderLEDisnowturnedo.

Replacing backing pad
• Insertpadwrenchbetweenthebackingpadandbrakesealtoholdthespindlenut.
• Turnthebackingpadcounterclockwisetoremoveit.
• Mountandtightennewbackingpadwithtwowashers.
• Removethepadwrench.
Replacing the brake seal
Note!Toomuchvacuuminyourdustextractionsystemmaycausethebrakesealtomalfunction.
• Dismountthebackingpadasdescribedabove.
• Pulltheoldbrakesealfromitsgroove.
• Applythenewbrakesealinthegroove.
• Mountthebackingpadasdescribedabove.
• Checkbrakesealfunction.Bychangingthenumberofwashersbetweenthespindleandbackingpad,
the eect of the brake seal can be adjusted.

Service must always be performed by trained personnel. To keep the tool warranty valid and to ensure
thetoolsafetyandfunctionit’srequiredthatserviceareperformedbyMirkaauthorizedservicecenter.
