BeforerstusingyournewPieMaker,itis
mostimportantthatyoureadandfollowthe
instructionsinthisuseandcarebooklet,even
ifyoufeelyouarefamiliarwiththistypeof
appliance.
Yourattentionisdrawnparticularlytothesection
dealingwithIMPORTANTSAFEGUARDS.Finda
safeandconvenientplacetokeepthisbooklet
handyforfuturereference.
Thisappliancehasbeendesignedtooperate
fromastandarddomesticpoweroutlet.Itisnot
intendedforindustrialorcommercialuse.
BeforeFirstUse
CarefullyunpackthePieMakerandremoveall
packagingmaterials.WipethebodyofthePie
Makerwithasoftdampsponge.
WhenusingyourPieMakerforthersttime,
‘condition’thenon-sticksurfaceofeachofthe
cookingareaswithathincoatingofcooking
oilorshorteningappliedwithapapertowelor
similar.
Note: To prolong the life of the
non-stick surface and to ensure
optimum results, it is very important
to “condition” the non-stick surface
before the rst use. Heat the Pie
Maker, pour a thin coating of
vegetable oil, then turn off and unplug.
While warm, rub the oil in well using a
thick wad of paper towels.
Use extreme care to avoid contact
with the surface.
Donotimmerseinwateroranyotherliquidwhilst
poweristurnedon.
Donotuseanyabrasivecleanersastheymay
scratchthesurface.
Yourapplianceisnowreadyforuse.
HowtoUse
1. Plugthepowercordintoapoweroutletand
switchpoweronatthewalloutlet.
2. Theredpowerindicatinglightwillbe
on.Pre-heatthepiemakerfor3-5minutes
untilthetemperaturereachesthedesired
temperature,thegreenindicatorlight
illuminates,theapplianceisreadyforuse.
Note: When using your Pie Maker for the
rst time, a small amount of light smoke
may be emitted. This is due to initial
heating of the elements and is normal.
3. Cuttingthepastry.
Usethespecialpiecutterprovidedtocutthe
pastrytopsandbasesforyourpies.Thesmall
cutterisforthetopandthelargecutterisfor
thebase.SeeFigure1.
Tocutyourpastrypieces,positionthecutter
onaatsheetofpastryandcutbypressing
downintothepastry.Ensurethecutissmooth
aroundtheedges.

Note: For best results, frozen pastry should
be used as soon as it is just thawed.
4. Gentlyplacethepastrybaseinthe
preheatedpiemaker.Becarefulasthepie
makerwillbehot.Quicklyoverlapthepastry
slitstoensuretheyjoinproperlyuntilapastry
baseisformed.Seegure2andgure3.
Caution: Only touch the pastry as the pie
maker will be very hot.

Addingthelling.
Anyingredientsyouhaveinyourkitchen,
left-oversandcannedfoodmaketempting
piellings.
Pre-cookyourpiellings,particularlyifusing
freshmeatorvegetables.Ingredientssuchas
fruitandcannedfoodcanbeusedwithout
pre-cooking.
Ensureallingredientsarecutintosmalland
evenpiecestoallowthemtoheatthrough.
Spoonyourpre-cooked,cooledllingintothe
pastrybase.Donotoverll.
Note: Do not use liquid ingredients such
as sauces, gravies and custards on their
own or in large amounts as they will
overow and make the pastry soggy.
Always combine with solid ingredients.
Also do not use hot llings as the pastry
base will become soggy.
Caution: Do not overll your pie cases or
have excess liquid ingredients (sauces,
gravies, custards). This will result in over-
ow from the pie maker. Pie lling is hot
and can scald.
5. Cookingthepies.
Placethepastrytopsoverthellingand
closethelid.thecookingtimewillbe
approximately6-15minutesiftheappliance
hasbeenpre-heatedfor3-5minutes.Ifyou
preferextrabrowning,werecommendyou
cookforanextra2-4minutes.
Caution: During cooking, open the pie
maker slowly and carefully, as excess pie
lling may overow and can scald.
Carefullywipeoffoilaftereachbatchof
pies,priortomakingyournextbatch.Thiswill
improvethecookingqualityandprevent
excessoil.
Tip:Fruitorvegetablellingswon’ttakeas
longtoheatandcookthroughasmeat
llings.Ifplanningtofreeze,onlycookpiesfor
theminimumcookingtime.Allowtocoolon
wireracksbeforefreezinginairtightbags.
Note: During cooking you may notice
awhistling sound. This is due to steam
escaping from the pies.
6. Afteruse,turnthepoweroffatthepower
outletandunplugthepiemakerfromthe
mainpowersupply.
7. Useaplasticorwoodenspatulatoremove
thepiesoastonotdamagethenon-stick
plates.Donotscratchthecookingsurface.
Donotusemetalutensils.
Note: It is normal for a large volume of
steam to escape from the sides of the Pie
Maker while in use. Contact with steam
can cause severe burns, please exercise
extreme caution when operating and
opening.
Note: The green indicator light will cycle
on and off throughout the cooking
process, indicating that the correct
temperature is being maintained.

Werecommendusingapuffpastryforthe
pietop.YoucanndPuffPastrysheetsinthe
freezersectionofyourlocalsupermarketor
youcanmakeyourowndough.
• Pre-madepiedoughcanbefoundinthe
refrigeratedsectionofyoursupermarket,
usuallywheretherefrigeratedcookiedough
andbiscuitsarelocated.
• Forpre-madepiecrust,unrollontoapiece
ofbakingpaper.usethespecialpiecutter
providedtocutthepastrytopsandbasesfor
yourpies.thesmallcutterisforthetopand
thelargecutterisforthebase.tocutyour
pastrypieces,positionthecutteronaat
sheetofpastryandcutbypressingdowninto
thepastry.Ensurethecutissmootharound
theedges.
• Youcanstoreunusedpiecrustinthefreezer
bysimplyusingbakingpaperin-between
layersandstoringinaplasticfreezerbag.
Removeanyexcessairfromthebagbefore
freezing.

Hints for Care and Use of Non-stick
Surface
• Toavoidscratchingthenon-sticksurface,do
notstackanyobjectsonyourPieMaker.
• Useonlynylon,plasticorwoodenutensils
withcaretoavoidscratchingthenon-stick
surface.Nevercutfoodonthecookingplate.
• Removestubbornstainswithanon-abrasive
scouringpadandmilddishwashingliquid.
DONOTUSESTEELWOOL.
CareandCleaning
Donotputtheapplianceinadishwasher.
Beforecleaningyourappliance,turnthepower
offatthepoweroutlet.Removetheplugfrom
thepoweroutletandallowtheunittocool
completely.
To Clean the Cooking Plate
Asthecookingplateiscoatedwithanon-stick
coating,littlecleaningisrequired.Wipeoverthe
cookingplateswithadampcloth.
Donotuseabrasivecreams,steelwoolor
scouringpads.
Toremovebakedfood,allowthecookingplate
tocoolcompletelythenwipeitwithadamp
cloth.
Neverimmerseyourappliancecompletelyin
waterorotherliquids.
Keeptheelementconnectionawayfromany
liquids.Drywithadrytowel.
Note: Always ensure the non-stick
plate is completely dry before storing
away.
Tocleantheexterior,wipewithadampcloth
andpolishwithasoftanddrycloth.
• Ensurethatyourpiecontainsasufcient
amountoflling.Iftoolittlelling,thetop
ofthepiewillnotmakecontactwiththe
heatingplateandwillnotbrownaswell.
Toomuchllingingredientsmaycauseyour
pietooverowduringthecookingprocess
andpreventthetopandbottompastry
fromsealing.Asageneralrule,llingsforpies
shouldbe3/4full.
• Donotuserawfruitllingsorproteinsforpies.
SincemostpiesinyourPieMakerarecooked
within15minutes,thisisnotsufcienttime
tocookllings.Alwaysprecookingredients
beforeaddingthemtothepiemaker.You
canndpre-madepiellingingredients
inthecannedfruitsectionofyourlocal
supermarket,orseetherecipesectionofthis
manualtomakeyourown!

Thispiemakerwillhelpyoubakefourindividual
pieswithoutmuchfuss.Youcanuseitwith
store-boughtorhomemadepastry,andwithany
sweetorsavouryllings.Sogetbakingandenjoy
yourpies!
Someofthepiellingrecipesonthefollowing
pagesareenoughforsixtoeightindividual.The
piescaneasilybefrozenandthenreheatedin
thepiemakerinapproximately30minutes,orin
8-12minutesifdefrosted.Ifyouintendtofreeze
yourpies,donotletthecrustsbrowntoomuch,
