BEFORE ASSEMBLING
Before installing this Xeon Processor Kit in your basic processing unit (including NEC Express
Server), carefully read through and understand the precautions for use described in the Getting
Started supplied with the basic processing unit to use the product safely.
We recommend that you have your local service/maintenance center do this expansion work.

WARNING
If you disregard the precautions, it may cause malfunction of the device, human body injury,
fire and/or damage to the machine parts around the device.
Unplug the power plug
Make sure to unplug the power plug from the electrical outlet
and unplug the cables connected to external devices from
the machine before installing or removing the product.
Touching the device of the NEC Express server with its
power plug connected to a power source may cause an
electric shock even if the NEC Express server is powered
off.

Notes for Use
Please be sure to observe the following notes after unpacking the Xeon Processor Kit.
●Do not put this product in a dusty place, a place where sulfur steam exists in the air, or a place
where liquid such as water may splash onto it.
●Do not put this product near strong magnetic sources.
●Do not touch the contacts of the CPU socket.
●Do not touch the bottom (contacts) of the CPU .

Installation of the Xeon Processor Kit
Install the Xeon Processor Kit in the correct order
by following the Getting Started or the User’s
Guide of your server.
When installing the Xeon Processor Kit, make
sure the following notes.
●Carefully place the Xeon Processor Kit matching the notch
to the key of the socket.
●Lower the Xeon Processor Kit straight down without tilting
or sliding the processor in the socket .
After the installation, check that the CPU is properly installed with the
SETUP utility. Go to “Advanced” menu, and click “Processor
Configuration” > “Processor Information.”
For details, refer to the User’s Guide in the EXPRESSBUILDER DVD supplied with your server.
Transfer to a Third Party
When transferring (or selling) this product to a third party, please make sure to provide this
guide along with the product.
