ThisproductisdesignedtomeettherequirementsofrelevantECdirecves.To
maintainthisstatus,allinstallaon,maintenanceandrepairistobedoneby
qualiedpersonnelusingonlyNedermanoriginalsparepartsandaccessories.
ContactthenearestauthorizeddistributororNedermanforadviceon

2.1 Installaon
WARNING! Risk of personal injury.
Thesafetymeasuresadoptedforusingthefanmustalsobetailoredtosuitthe
specicapplicaonsforwhichthefanwillbeused.Thesafetymeasurestaken
dierdependingonthetypeoffaninstallaon.Therefore,theinformaonin
thismanualisindispensablefortheappropriateandhazard-freeuseofthe
fan.
Therearefourpossibleinstallaontypes,incompliancewithUNI10615
specicaons:
•TypeA:openintakeandoutlet.
•TypeB:openintakeandoutletconnectedtoapipe.
•TypeC:intakeconnectedtoapipeandopenoutlet.
•TypeD:intakeandoutletconnectedtoapipe.
ClearlyABPh.Nederman&Cocannotbeawareofwhichofthesefour
installaontypeswillbeusedbytheuser.Therefore,theinstallerorendclient
themselvesmustanalyzetherisksinvolvedforthechoseninstallaontype
usedinthespecicapplicaon.

Dependingontheapplicaonsthattheclientintendstousethefanforinthe
factoryandonthetypeofinstallaonchosen,thefollowingsafetyshields
mustbeed:
•TypeAinstallaon:xedshieldsattheintakeandoutlet.
•TypeBinstallaon:shieldedonlyattheoutlet.
•TypeCinstallaon:shieldedonlyattheintake.
•TypeDinstallaon:noshieldateithertheintakeoroutlet.
Theshieldingmustbeconstructedtoimpedeaccesstothepartsofthefan
thatcouldcauseinjury.Itmustberobustlybuiltenoughtostandthevibraons
andstresscausedbythemachineandbyenvironmentalcondions.Itmust
besecurelyxedinposionbydevicesthatwillnotbecomeloosenedby
vibraonsandthatcannotberemovedwithouttheuseoftools.
Itis,inanycase,thepersoninstallingthefanwhoisresponsibleforensuring
thatadequatemeasureshavebeentakentopreventaccidentalcontactwith
thefan’smovingparts.
Theinstallerandtheusermustalsotakeintoaccountothertypesofrisks
present,inparcularthosecausedbyforeignmaerenteringthefanandthe
aspiraonofexplosive,inammableortoxicgasesathightemperatures.
Theusermustalsobearinmindtherisksinherentinmaintenancework,which
mustalwaysbecarriedoutincondionsoftheutmostsafety,withthefan
separatedfromthemotororisolatedusingsuitableequipment.
Oncetheinstallerand/oruserhasdecidedwhichinstallaontypeistobeused
andalltheaboveprocedureshavebeenapplied,themachinecannowbe
considereda“completemachine”asdescribedbymachineuseregulaons.An
overallriskevaluaonmustbemade.
2.2 Risks involved in incorrect handling or use
•Never,foranyreasonwhatsoever,disable,remove,modifyorrender
inoperaveinanyotherwayanyofthesafety,protecveorcontrol
devicesofanysinglecomponentorofthefanitself.
•Neverplacehands,armsoranyotherpartofthebodynearanymoving
part.
• Neverextendanypartofthebodypastthelimitsofthesafetybarriers.
Donotuseanymeansthatwillincreasenormalaccessibilitytothefan
components.
• Neverusethefaninatmosphereswherethereisariskofexplosion.
•Unauthorizedoperatorsmustnotaempttorecfyanymalfunconof
thefanand/ormodifythefunconalcharacteriscsorandinstallaon
type.
• Aeranyunprogrammedmaintenanceoperaonthatrequiredthe
removalofshields,barriersoranyotherprotecvedevice,before
restarngthefanensurethatallthesecomponentshavebeenreed
andarefullyfunconal.
•Allprotecveandsafetydevicesmustbekeptinperfectworkingorder
atallmes.Allindicaveandwarningplatesxedtothefanmustalso

bekeptinperfectcondionatallmesandmustneverberemovedor
movedfromtheiroriginalposion.
•Whentroubleshoongforthecauseofanymalfunconofthefan,
ensurethatallprecauonsdescribedinthismanualhavebeentakento
preventpersonalinjuryand/ordamagetoproperty.
•Remembertoghteneveryscrew,boltandlockringofeverycomponent
subjecttoadjustmentormaintenance.
•Beforestarngthefan,ensurethatallsafetydeviceshavebeencorrectly
installedandareinperfectworkingorder;iftheaboveisnotthecase,do
notstartthefanandinformtheheadofsafetyordepartmentmanager
immediately.
• TheoperatormustbeequippedwithPersonalproteconEquipments
inaccordancewithcurrentlegislaon;theuseofbulkyclothingand
accessories(es,loosesleeves,etc.)isprohibited.
2.3 Other risks related to fans
Thefollowingisalistofspecichazardsrelatedtothefan’smechanical
characteriscs.
WARNING! Risk of personal injury.
Apersonmayreceiveinjuriesasaresultof:
•Becomingcaughtupbetweenamovingpartandastaonarypart,forexample,betweena
fanrotorandthefanhousingoranyotherstaonaryfancomponent.
•Becomingcaughtupbetweentwomovingparts,forexample,betweenabeltandapulley.
•Suconofapartofthebodyintothefanandsubsequentcontactwiththeshaorrotor.
•Contactwithamovingpart,suchastherotor.
•Anobjectbecomingsuckedintotheintakeofthefanandexpelledathighspeedfromthe
outletofthefan.
•Contactwithsurfacesofthefanatdangeroustemperatures,forexample,temperatures
below-20°Corabove+50°C.
•Hazardscausedbytheoverspeedofafancomponent,whichcanleadtothebreakageof
partsofthemachine.
•Theaspiraonofairattemperaturesabovethespeciedoperangrange,whichcanleadto
thedeformaonandbreakageofthehousing.
2.4 Specic risks involved in transport and installaon
•Beforeinstallaon,theusermustprepareaperfectlylevelsurfaceonto
whichthefanwillbemounted.Ifthissurfaceisnotperfectlylevel,this
cancauseabnormalvibraonsinthefan.Thiscan,overme,leadtothe
deformaonand/orbreakageoffancomponentswiththesubsequent
expulsionatspeedofbrokenparts:theseexpelledpartscancauseeven
fatalinjuriestoanypersonsexposed.
•Beforeinstallaon,theusermustalsoprepareadequateconneconsto
earthforthefancaseorforthefanstructuretopreventthebuild-upof
electrostaccharges.
•Allinstalledprotecvedevicesmustremainxedtothefantogether
withtheirrespecvexings(screws,bolts,etc.).Theremovalofoneor

morexingmaycompromisethefunconalityandghtnessofthesafety
shield.
• Initsstandardform,thefanisnotintendedforuseinapotenally
explosiveenvironment.
•Theinstallaonlocaonofthefanmustbekeptcleanatallmes.Any
eventualoilorwaterspillagesnotcausedbythefanmustberemoved
immediately.
• Theminimuminstallaondistancesspeciedinthemanualmust
alwaysberespectedtoensurecorrectfunconalitywithoutanyfurther
hazards.Theincorrectposioningofacomponentcancompromisethe
funconalityofthefan.
2.5 Specic risks involved in fan maintenance
•Duringmaintenanceandcleaningofthefanrotor,beparcularcareful
oftherotor.Thiscanleadtopartsofthebodybecomingtrappedand
seriouslyinjuredbetweentherotoritselfandxedpartsofthefan
housing.
• Evenwhenthefanisdisconnectedfromthepowersupply,therotang
partscansllturnduetoanyairmovementthroughthefan.Thisairow
maybenaturalormaybecausedbythecurrentinducedbyanotherfan
installedelsewhereintheconnectedtubingsystem.Thiscanalsoleadto
partsofthebodybecomingtrappedandseriouslyinjuredbetweenthe
rotoritselfandxedpartsofthefanhousing.
•Afanmaintenanceprogrammustbedrawnupandfollowedto
preventthemechanicalfailureorbreakageduetowearorinsucient
maintenance.

4.3 Transport and installaon
4.3.1 Transport and liing
Liingandhandlingthefanmaycreatehazardsforanypersonsinthevicinity;
itisthereforeimportanttofollowtheindicaonsgivenbyABPh.Nederman
&Coandtousesuitableequipment.Alloperaonsinvolvingtheliingand
handlingofthefanmustbecarriedoutwiththeutmostcauon,avoiding
anyknocksthatcouldcompromisethefunconalityordamagethefan
components.Useonlythespecicliingpointsonthefanandensurethatthe

Thefanmustrunwithoutexcessivevibraonandnoise.
Check,withthefanatrestandatanoutsideairtemperatureof20°C,that
thebearingsdonotexceedthemaximumoperangtemperature(maximum
bearingtemperature70°C).
Duringtherstfewhoursofoperaon,itisnormalforthebearingstoreach
slightlyhighertemperatures,aslongastheylaterstabiliseatalowervalue.
Intheeventofoverheangofthebearings,contacttheNedermantechnical
assistancedepartment.
Aer3-4operanghours,withthefanatrestanddisconnectedfromthe
powersupply,checkagainthatallboltsarecorrectlyghtened,thebearing
