Before using the printer, the printer drivers and status monitor
software must be installed. The software is on the Software
Installation CD-ROM included with your printer.
Installation instructions are included for printers connected to
computers by a USB cable or a parallel cable. Oki Data
recommends using a USB connection, as your printer is
performance optimized for a USB interface.

INSTALL THE DRIVER
1. Make sure the USB cable is connected to your printer and
PC and your printer is turned OFF.
2. Insert the Software Installation CD, supplied with your
printer, into your CD-ROM drive. The CD will autorun. (If
it doesn’t, click Start →Run →Browse. Browse to your
CD-ROM drive and double-click Install.exe, click OK.)
3. The license Agreement appears. Click Next.
4. The Menu Installer Software Installation screen appears.
Choose your language.
5. Click the Printer Driver Installer button.
6. Click Local printer. Click Next.
7. Select the USB port. Click Next.
8. Printer model and emulation displays. Click Next. Printer
drivers are installed.
9. Connect cable screen displays. Click Finish.
10. Switch your printer ON.
11. Add New Hardware wizard starts. Click Next.
12. Select “Search for the best driver for your device.” Click
Next.
13. Select CD-ROM drive. Clear other choices. Click Next.
14. The USB driver is located. Click Next. Click Finish.
15. Restart your system.
INSTALL THE STATUS MONITOR
1. Insert the driver CD supplied with your printer into your
CD-ROM drive. The CD will autorun. (If it doesn’t, click
Start →Run →Browse. Browse to your CD-ROM drive
and double-click Install.exe, click OK.)
2. The license Agreement appears. Click Next.
3. The Menu Installer Software Installation screen appears.
Choose your language.
4. Click the Printer Software button.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
Print a Test Page
1. Click Start →Settings→Printers. Right-click OKI
B4200(PCL).
2. Click Properties.
3. Select the General Tab.
4. Click the Print Test Page button.
Open the Status Monitor
Click Start→Programs→OKIB4200/OKIB4200 Status
Monitor. For more information on the Status Monitor, see page
10 and the on-line User’s Guide.
View or Install the On-line User’s Guide
In order to open the on-line User’s Guide, you must have
Acrobat Reader installed.
1. With the Software Installation CD installed in your CD-
ROM drive, click Start→Run→Browse. Browse to your
CD-ROM drive and double-click Install.exe. Click OK.
2. The License Agreement appears. Click I Accept. Click
Next .
3. Choose a language.
4. Click View or Install User’s Guide.

will autorun. (If it doesn’t, click Start →Run →Browse.
Browse to your CD-ROM drive and double-click
Install.exe, then click OK.)
4. The Licence Agreement appears. Click I Accept. Click
Next.
5. The Menu Installer Software Installation screen appears.
Choose your language.
6. Click the Printer Driver Installer button.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation, but do not restart your system.

1. With the Menu Installer Software Installation screen still
open, click the Printer Software button.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
3. Restart your system.
Print a Test Page
1. Click Start→Settings→Printers.
2. Right-click OKI B4200(PCL).
3. Click Properties.
4. Click the Print Test Page button.

INSTALLING PRINTER DRIVERS
Two printer drivers are available:
•Afast-parallel driver (recommended), which provides
faster printing. To use this driver, make sure the ECP setting
in your system BIOS is enabled. See your computer’s
manual for information on how to do this.
•Alogo driver, which is Microsoft®certified.
Install a Logo Driver
1. Check that the cable is installed.
2. Turn the printer ON.
3. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. The CD
will Autorun. (If it doesn’t, click Start →Run →Browse.
Browse to your CD-ROM drive and double-click
Install.exe, then click OK.)
4. The Licence Agreement appears. Click Next.
5. The Menu Installer screen appears. Choose your language.
6. Click the Printer Driver Installer button.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
Print a Test Page
1. Click Start→Settings→Printers (& Faxes).
2. Right-click OKI B4200(PCL).
3. Click Properties.
4. Click the Print Test Page button.
Install the Optional Fast-Parallel Driver
1. Check that the cable is installed.
2. Turn the printer ON.
3. Click Start→Settings→Printers & Faxes.
4. Click Add Printer. The Add Printer Wizard displays. Click
Next.
5. Select Local Printer attached, uncheck other selections.
Click Next.
6. Select the LPT1 (recommended) printer port. Click Next.
7. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM Drive. (If Menu Installer
displays, click cancel to close it and continue the
installation using Add Printer Wizard.)
8. Select Have Disk and click Browse.
9. Browse to your CD-ROM drive\Drivers\ecp\2k_xp\
language. Click OK.
10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation. If Windows Logo testing or Digital Signature
Not Found appears, click Continue Anyway or Ye s.

1. With the CD installed in your CD-ROM drive, click
Start→Run→Browse. Browse to your CD-ROM drive and
double-click Install. Click OK.
2. The License Agreement appears. Click Next.
3. The Menu Installer displays. Choose your language.
4. Click the Printer Software button.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation.
Open the Status Monitor
Click Start→Programs→OKIB4200/OKIB4200 Status
Monitor. For more information on the Status Monitor, see page
10 and the on-line User’s Guide.
View or Install the On-line User’s Guide

The status monitor is your on-screen control panel where you
can monitor printer operation and control and change printer
settings.
To open the status monitor click Start/Programs/OKIB4200/
OKIB4200 Status Monitor. The current printer status is
shown.
Note: Click the maximize button to expand the view.
Status Monitor Tabs
Click on a tab for the following information:
Printer Status - This tab appears when you open the status
monitor. On this screen, messages pop-up in the status window
so you can see the real-time operations of your printer.
Printer Setup - Click this tab for access to the printer menu
setup; you can set paper specifications, document layout, print
quality, economy print, and test printing.
Preferences - Use this tab to set the appearance and response of
the status monitor.
Click the Help button for information about each
feature.

Readme file on the CD supplied with your printer.

The B4200 operator panel consists of a control button and 4
LED indicators.
CONTROL BUTTON
Use the control button (1) to:
• Turn the printer on-line/off-line.
• Resume printing after a paper error, or print overrun.
• Interrupt/resume data processing.
LED INDICATORS
The LEDs show the status of your printer. The LEDs also have
operating conditions that are indicated by slow or rapid
blinking. See the B4200 On-line User’s Guide for more
information.
LEDs:
(2)Power: Power is on.
(3) Ready: Printer is on-line and ready to print.
(4) Manual Feed: Printer is requesting Manual Paper Feed.
(5) Error: There is an error with the printer.
Remember, the Status Monitor displays the status of your
printer on-screen (see page 10).
