I. System Start-Up Information
1. Read the installation and maintenance instr ctions as well as the recommended
safety practices in this man al.
2. Install D ctwork completely before operating collector:
A.) Seal d ctwork with silicone sealant or d ct tape.
B.) Have D st Bin in place and sealed.
3. Have licensed electrician wire Fan / Blower according to wire diagram on pg. 12
in this owners man al.
4. Have licensed electrician check c rrent draw on motor with all gates open. C rrent
draw sho ld not exceed maxim m motor amperage. (OAS is not responsible for
damage to motors ca sed by improper installation, wiring or fail re to follow these
directions.)
Caution
The Direct Drive Fan / Blower makes the system top heavy!
Use extreme care when setting the unit up!
Warning
If amperage is too high shut down immediately!
(See troubleshooting section.)
Warning
Do not operate Fan / Blower unless Cyclone and Dust Bin
are in place. Motor will over heat!

Filter Maintenance
Failure to follow filter maintenance instructions
in owners manual will cause filter to e
damaged.
Blow down filter at end of day with compressed
air per owners manual or low down when ack
pressure reaches 3 water gauge - whichever
comes first. Never allow gauge to reach 5.
Caution
Check Dust Bin Fre uently For
Smoldering Materials. Empty Bin Before
Leaving Shop.
Drum cover must be in place when system
is operating to prevent motor overheating!
An airtight seal between the cyclone and
drum will provide the necessary resistance
needed to prevent motor overheating!

the provided gasket material on top and bottom of the
Fan/Blower ho sing and the Cone as shown in the
diagrams. Then determine which direction yo want
yo r filter to hang and which direction yo r d ctwork
will enter the collector.

There are essentially three ways to assem le your collector
and to attach it to the racket. The way that is right for you
should e determined y expertise and manpower availa le.
When the units are all assem led they are very heavy and top
weighted. All of this should e taken into account efore
deciding on the method est suited for you.

Motor and Plate to Fan/Blower ho sing. Caref lly lay
nit on its side and then bolt cone to barrel. Lift entire
nit p onto wall braket. Unit is extremely heavy and
top weighted, be advised!
Method #2 -
Bolt Fan/Blower ho sing to Cyclone barrel. Then bolt
Motor and Plate to Fan/Blower ho sing. P t Cone p
on Wall Bracket and orient holes. Lift assembled nit
onto cone making s re proper holes are lined p. Bolt
nit to bracket, then finish bolting barrel to cone.

With all assem lies, make sure
rectangular air outlet is oriented on
Fan/Blower housing as you are
looking down as in Fig. 1A or facing
it as shown in diagrams. This is very
important. Then yo can rotate
ho sing to whatever bolt position is
best for yo r shop.

Note: For cyclonic preseparation there must be an air tight seal between cyclone and dust
container. Dust bin must be located vertically under cyclone, material drops down by gravity.

VII. Bracket Assembly
1. Yo m st determine the direction the fan o tlet will point to
proceed with this mo nting assembly. The collector will seem
q ieter if the o tlet is aimed away from the area people tend to
work. Slots in the brackets are .406 x 1.00
Note: Bolts incl ded to mo nt bracket to collector. Hardware
NOT incl ded to mo nt to wall.
2. Hold bracket against wall with top of plate at 56. Mark where
mo nting holes fall. Mo nt wall bracket. For wall mo nting, the
bolt centers on the brackets are at 16to accomodate most wall
st d spacing. See Fig. 1 & 2. Use a Level to ens re straightness.
3. Attach bracket to wall with lag screws, concrete anchors, or
other s itable hardware. See Fig. 2 & 3. Note: When installing
the brackets on a concrete wall, mount 2 x 4s between wall and
brackets to stabilize and dampen vibration.
4. Position Angle Ring aro nd top of cone over bracket. Line p
one hole in Ring with hole in each bracket at desired rotation of
o tlet. If rotation yo desire does not correspond to an existing
hole in Angle Ring, drill new ones. Use three 3/8 bolts (incl ded)
with washers & lock washers to sec re the fan. See Fig. 4.
5. Attach tightly with bolts. See Fig. 4.
Note: Please do not install an Oneida Dust Collection System alone. Competent
assistance is advisa le. Units are heavy!

IX. Filter Maintenance
External Filter Cartridge Cleaning Intervals
Caution: Fine dust collected in filter is hazardous
to your health! Do not breathe!
When nit is t rned off, se compressed air to blow d st off from
exterior of filter. Hold nozzle at least 8 away from filter pleats*.
Do not remove bottom d st pan before or d ring the blow-off
process! Let d st settle into d st pan. Unclip and d mp o t d st.
Filter removal is not req ired.
* WARNING: A close, direct blast with the compressed air nozzle
too close to filter, may damage filter media. Always wear safety
glasses while blowing off filter.
Fan / Blower & Cyclone Outside Placement
Fan / Blower has a TEFC - Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled motor.
Note: Use steel dr m when placed o tside.
Before Operation:
Mo nt system and connect cyclone and d st bin. Make s re d st bin is in place before t rning on the d st
collector.
Do not operate Fan / Blower unless Cyclone and Dust Bin are in place! Motor will overheat!
Electrical Wiring:
Make s re power so rce matches wire voltage config rations on motor.
Prior to connecting to the power line, check motor plate for proper voltage and rotation connection. Wire for
co nter-clockwise rotation. Fan wheel m st rotate co nter-clockwise if looking down on fan ho sing.
Note: If fan is wired incorrectly and fan is rotating backwards, poor s ction and airflow will res lt. See Wire
Diagrams on motor plate.
Use 12 ga ge cord for the fan / blowers.

X. Directions for Cleaning External Filter

The External Filter can be cleaned using the following methods:
Wait a few min tes for internal d st to settle then nclip
and caref lly empty d st bin.
Keep nozzle at least 6 from filter and keep yo r press re
down. Closer blasts may damage filter material. Rinse
off INSIDE of filter. Let filter dry completely before re se
or keep a spare filter on hand.
2. Empty Dust Bin.
All steps should be done with a dust mask and eye protection.
3. Rinse with water. (Optional)
1. Compressed air from outside.

Blast air along pleats of the filter at abo t a 20 angle.
Blast air o t and away from yo or anyone in the general
area.
Keep air nozzle at least 6 from filter. Closer blasts may
damage filter material. 6
Clipping Filter Dust Pan
Position bottom of U on top of clip between filter pleats,
then p sh bottom of clip nderneath the rim of the d st
pan. Space the three clips eq ally aro nd the d st pan,
making s re the pan is even with filter bottom and tightly
sealed.

XIII. Fire Hazards -
Read Before Installing and Operating
Do not use this product to collect other types of dust or flammable vapors.
Fire or explosion may occur!
Never collect sparks from a bench grinder into a wood d st collector.
Never introd ce sparks or so rces of ignition into the d st collector.
Personnel sho ld keep at least 20 feet away from nit.
Check d st bin freq ently and before leaving the shop for smoldering material.
Keep portable Fire Exting ishers handy.
The ABC type (dry chemical) is generally a good choice for small wood shops.
Additional information on portable exting ishers can be fo nd in NFPA 10 (Standard for Portable Fire Exting ishers).
Be especially caref l with sanding nits. They can prod ce concentrations of d st in the comb stible range. Make
certain eno gh air vol me is at the s ction point to capt re all the partic late generated.
This high air vol me will dil te the mixt re below the lower limit of flammability. Be caref l not to generate sparks into
the sanding d st.
Empty d st bin and clean filter often, especially when sanding.
Dont overload woodworking eq ipment, especially sanders. Excessive frictional heat can spontaneo sly ignite d st.
Sparks can be generated in several ways:
High-speed sanders and abrasive planers may strike foreign material
Saws and edgers may strike foreign material and create a red hot metal fragment.
Knots in hardwood can create frictional sparks.
Tramp metal when drawn into the collector can spark against d ctwork.
Check wood stock for old nails and screws which can create red hot metal fragments.
Avoid sing excessively large wood waste storage bins.
Always check storage bins for smoldering material before leaving for the day.
Electrically gro nd all eq ipment and d cting. Static sparks can ignite wood d st. (Avoid sing PVC drainpipe)
Dont allow acc m lation of layers of fine d st on horizontal s rfaces. (Especially overhead lights, electrical boxes,
and f se panels which can ignite d st)
Oneida Collectors are designed for WOOD DUST only!!
Wood shaping and c tting processes generate wood chips, shavings, and d st. These materials are considered
comb stible. Air borne wood d st below 420 microns in size (.017 of an inch) in certain concentration ranges when

An ignition so rce s ch as a spark, or ember, can ignite a d st mixt re res lting in an expanding flame front, which
can ca se an explosion if tightly contained. A dist rbance that raises a clo d of acc m lated fine d st can raise additional
d st clo ds, which can ca se a series of explosions that can level an entire b ilding. Until this type of fire has been
witnessed, it is difficult to believe the devastation. This type of fire is rare but worth safeguarding against.
The best way to avoid a wood shop fire is to keep the shop clean. A shop ankle deep in d st with layers of fine d st
everywhere is an accident waiting to happen. A good d st collection system red ces overall fire hazards b t also adds
new concerns. A fire hazard is still present. Comb stible material is now in the d st collector and storage container.
It is the b yers responsibility to follow all applicable federal, state, local, OSHA, NFPA, or a thorities having
j risdiction codes and reg lations when installing and operating this d st collector.
Fire Marshalls may want the nit located o tside of the b ilding. If the collector is located inside the facility,
controls s ch as spark detection, s ppression, or explosion venting may be req ired.
Most local j risdictions cons lt or adopt NFPA ( National Fire Protection Agency) codes. However, other codes
may apply. Local codes may vary from j risdiction to j risdiction.
NFPA 664 Code book, Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking
Facilities, applies to woodworking operations that occ py areas of more than 5,000 sq. ft. or to areas where
d st prod cing eq ipment req ires an aggregate d st collection flow rate of more than 1500 cfm (C bic Feet
per Min te). This exempts some small operators from the NFPA code 664, b t other codes may apply in yo r
j risdiction. Cons lt yo r local Fire Marshall for help. Additional information can be fo nd in NFPA Code Book
664.

The customer assumes the responsibility for contacting their insurance underwriter with regard to specific
application requirements of explosion venting or if additional fire protection and safety equipment may be
required.
Unplug unit before servicing or cleaning.

XIV. Terms and Conditions
Please look over the shipped order very caref lly in the presence of the delivery person for damage or
incomplete shipment before signing the delivery receipt. Please note any tears or irreg larities in shipping
packaging, however slight, on the shipping delivery receipt. This co ld be an indication of extensive concealed
damage. The shipping company will not take responsibility if the damage is not noted on the delivery receipt.
In the event of shipping damage, call O.A.S. immediately so we can expedite replacements. Please check
in all parts within 3 days from receiving order. Notify O.A.S. immediately of any missing or incorrect parts.
O.A.S. does not accept any claims for damage or shortage after 3 days from date of delivery.
Checking in Order
Oneida Air Systems warrants prod cts it man fact res for a period of 2 years to the original p rchaser from
the date of p rchase. Items not man fact red by O.A.S. are limited to their own man fact rers warranties.
This warranty does not apply to defects d e directly or indirectly to mis se, negligence, accidents, ab se,
repairs, or alterations or lack of maintenance. This is Oneida Air Systems sole written warranty and any and
all warranties that may be implied by law, incl ding any merchantability or fitness, for any partic lar p rpose,
are hereby limited to the d ration of this written warranty. O.A.S. does not warrant or represent that the
merchandise complies with the provisions of any law or acts nless the man fact rer so warrants. In no
event shall O.A.S.s liability nder this warranty exceed the p rchase price paid for the prod ct and any legal
actions bro ght against Oneida Air Systems shall be tried in the State of New York, Co nty of Onondaga.
Oneida Air Systems shall in no event be liable for death, inj ries to persons or property or for incidental,
contingent, special, or conseq ential damages arising from the se of o r prod ct.
Oneida Air Systems does not warrant or a thorize se of wood d st collectors for other p rposes. This
incl des wood prod cts that are treated, coated, or otherwise altered from their nat ral state.
Limited Warranty
Prod cts will be shipped to B yers single destination. Title and risk of loss shall pass to the B yer pon
delivery to s ch destination. B yer pays transportation expenses. Dates of shipment are advisory and O.A.S.
will make reasonable efforts to ship on or before the date states for shipment, however, O.A.S. shall not inc r
any liability for fail re to ship on that date.
Delivery Risk of Loss
B yer m st inform O.A.S. of any shortage or damage, by so noting in writing, on the freight delivery bill prior
to signing to indicate receipt of shipment. All claims, incl ding claims covered nder the limited warranty, are
s bject to inspection and investigation by O.A.S.. O.A.S. reserves the right to inspect and investigate all
ret rned prod cts before B yers claim is settled. All prod cts ret rned for a ref nd m st be n sed, resaleable
and p rchased within the last six months. There are no ref nds on flex hose, c stom made components,
or partial kit items. Kits m st be ret rned in f ll (all components) for credit. There will be a 25% restocking
fee applied to any returned items.
Returned Goods Policy
*Note: Motors should e protected from extreme weather to prolong motor life.
Single phase motors should only e started and stopped up to 4 - 10 times per
hour. Starting single phase motors more frequently can cause heat uild up
and can cause the motor overload to trip or cause motor damage. In general,
motors should e started and stopped as little as possi le for maximum
lifespan and est economy (electrical use).
