Die Gebrauchsanweisung gibt Ihnen wichtige Informationen für das Anpassen und Anlegen der
Lumbalsakralorthesen 50R232 Smartspine LSO high, 50R233 Smartspine LSO low und 50R235
Smartspine LSO standard.
2 Verwendung
2.1 Verwendungszweck
Die Orthese ist ausschließlich zur orthetischen Versorgung des Rückens einzusetzen und aus
schließlich für den Kontakt mit intakter Haut bestimmt.
Die Orthese muss indikationsgerecht eingesetzt werden.

2.3.2 Relative Kontraindikationen
Bei nachfolgenden Indikationen ist eine Rücksprache mit dem Arzt erforderlich: Hauterkrankun
gen/-verletzungen, Entzündungen, aufgeworfene Narben mit Schwellung, Rötung und Überwär
mung im versorgten Körperabschnitt, Tumoren, Lymphabfluss-Störungen – auch unklare Weich
teilschwellungen körperfern des Hilfsmittels, Sensibilitätsstörungen im Bereich des Rumpfes.
2.4 Wirkungsweise
Die Orthese fördert die Sensomotorik und aktiviert die muskuläre Stabilisierung der Lendenwir
belsäule. Sie unterstützt die Schmerzlinderung und entlastet die Lendenwirbelsäule durch in
traabdominale Druckerhöhung und äußere Stabilisierung.
Die ausgeübte Kompression ist über das patentierte "Mechanical Advantage Pulley System" indi
viduell regulierbar.
3 Sicherheit

4 Handhabung
INFORMATION
►Die tägliche Tragedauer und der Anwendungszeitraum werden in der Regel vom Arzt
festgelegt.

►Die erstmalige Anpassung und Anwendung des Produkts darf nur durch Fachpersonal
erfolgen.
►Weisen Sie den Patienten in die Handhabung und Pflege des Produkts ein.
►Weisen Sie den Patienten darauf hin, dass er umgehend einen Arzt aufsuchen soll,
wenn er außergewöhnliche Veränderungen an sich feststellt (z.B. Zunahme der Be
schwerden).
4.1 Auswählen der Größe
1) Den Taillenumfang ca. 2cm über dem Beckenkamm messen.
2) Die Orthesengröße ermitteln (siehe Größentabelle).
4.2 Anpassen und Anlegen
VORSICHT
Direkter Hautkontakt mit dem Produkt
Hautirritation durch Reibung oder Schweißbildung
►Tragen Sie das Produkt nicht direkt auf der Haut.
VORSICHT
Falsches oder zu festes Anlegen
Lokale Druckerscheinungen und Einengungen an durchlaufenden Blutgefäßen und Nerven
durch falsches oder zu festes Anlegen
►Stellen Sie das korrekte Anlegen und den korrekten Sitz der Orthese sicher.
HINWEIS
Verwendung eines verschlissenen oder beschädigten Produkts
Eingeschränkte Wirkung
►Weisen Sie den Patienten darauf hin, dass er das Produkt vor jedem Gebrauch auf
Funktionstüchtigkeit, Verschleiß oder Schäden untersucht.
►Machen Sie den Patienten darauf aufmerksam, dass das Produkt nicht mehr verwendet
werden soll, wenn das Produkt oder ein Teil des Produkts Verschleißerscheinungen (z.
B. Risse, Verformungen, schlechte Passform) oder Schäden aufweist.
> Der Patient steht.
> Der Klettverschluss des Bauchgurts ist geöffnet.
> Der Seilzug ist vollkommen gelockert.
1) Optional - Nur 50R232 Smartspine LSO high: Die beiden seitlichen Platten/die Bauchplatte
entfernen.
2) Die Rückenplatte der Orthese mittig positionieren (siehe Abb.1).
3) Die Orthese um den Rumpf führen und mit gleicher Krafteinwirkung zur Vorderseite ziehen.
4) Den rechten Teil auf den linken Teil des Bauchgurts befestigen (siehe Abb.2). Achten Sie
darauf, dass die Klettflächen gerade aufeinander liegen und nicht mit der Kleidung oder der
Haut in Kontakt sind.
5) Das Ende des Seilzugs nach vorne ziehen und am Bauchgurt ankletten (siehe Abb.3).
6) Optional - Verkürzen des Seilzugs: Die Wickelkarte aus der Tasche ziehen (siehe Abb.4),
den Seilzug um die Wickelkarte wickeln (siehe Abb.5) und die Wickekarte wieder in die Ta
sche stecken.

4.3 Reinigung
HINWEIS
Verwendung falscher Reinigungsmittel
Beschädigung des Produktes durch falsche Reinigungsmittel
►Reinigen Sie das Produkt nur mit den zugelassenen Reinigungsmitteln.
Die Orthese regelmäßig reinigen:
1) Alle Klettverschlüsse schließen.
2) Die Orthese in 30°C warmen Wasser mit einem handelsüblichen Feinwaschmittel von Hand
waschen.
3) Die Orthese gut ausspülen.
4) An der Luft trocknen lassen. Direkte Hitzeeinwirkung vermeiden (z.B. durch Sonnenbestrah
lung, Ofen- oder Heizkörperhitze).
5 Entsorgung
Das Produkt gemäß den geltenden nationalen Vorschriften entsorgen.
6 Rechtliche Hinweise
Alle rechtlichen Bedingungen unterliegen dem jeweiligen Landesrecht des Verwenderlandes und
können dementsprechend variieren.
6.1 Haftung
Der Hersteller haftet, wenn das Produkt gemäß den Beschreibungen und Anweisungen in diesem
Dokument verwendet wird. Für Schäden, die durch Nichtbeachtung dieses Dokuments, insbe
sondere durch unsachgemäße Verwendung oder unerlaubte Veränderung des Produkts verur
sacht werden, haftet der Hersteller nicht.
6.2 CE-Konformität
Das Produkt erfüllt die Anforderungen der europäischen Richtlinie 93/42/EWG für Medizinpro
dukte. Aufgrund der Klassifizierungskriterien nach AnhangIX dieser Richtlinie wurde das Produkt
in die KlasseI eingestuft. Die Konformitätserklärung wurde deshalb vom Hersteller in alleiniger
Verantwortung gemäß AnhangVII der Richtlinie erstellt.

These instructions for use provide important information on the fitting and application of the
50R232 Smartspine LSO high, 50R233 Smartspine LSO low and 50R235 Smartspine LSO stan
dard lumbosacral braces.

2 Application
2.1 Indications for use
The brace is intended exclusively for orthotic fittings of the back and exclusively for contact with
intact skin.
The brace must be used in accordance with the indications.
2.2 Indications

• Stenosis of the lumbar spine
• Degeneration of the lumbar intervertebral discs
• Spondylolisthesis of the lumbar spine
• Facet joint syndrome of the lumbar spine
• Spondylolysis of the lumbar spine
• Stable vertebral body fractures of the lumbar spine (with no neurological deficits)
• Postoperative stabilization after spinal fusion
• Low back/thoracic spine pain (mechanical)
• Compression fractures of the thoracic and lumbar spine (with no neurological deficits)
• Intervertebral disc prolapse in the thoracic and lumbar spine

2.3 Contraindications
2.3.1 Absolute Contraindications
None known.
2.3.2 Relative Contraindications
The following conditions require consultation with a physician: skin diseases/injuries, inflamma
tion, raised scars with swelling, reddening, and warming in the area where the support is fitted,
tumors, lymphatic congestion – including unclear soft tissue swelling distal to the support, and
dysesthesia in the trunk.
2.4 Mechanism of Action
The brace promotes sensorimotor function and activates muscular stabilization of the lumbar
spine. It supports pain relief and relieves the lumbar spine by increasing intra-abdominal pressure
and by providing external stabilization.
The application of compression can be individually controlled with the patented "Mechanical
Advantage Pulley System".

4 Handling
INFORMATION
►The daily duration of use and period of application are generally determined by the
physician.
►The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by qualified person
nel.
►Instruct the patient in the handling and care of the product.
►Instruct the patient to see a physician immediately if any exceptional changes are noted
(e.g. worsening of the complaint).
4.1 Selecting the Size
1) Measure the waist circumference approx. 2cm above the iliac crest.
2) Determine the brace size (see size chart).

4.2 Fitting and Application

►Instruct the patient to inspect the product for proper functionality, wear, and damage pri
or to each use.
►Advise the patient that the product may not be used if the product or part of the product
exhibits signs of wear (e.g. cracks, deformation, poor fit) or damage.
> The patient is standing.
> The hook-and-loop closure on the abdominal strap is open.
> The pull cable is fully loosened.
1) Optional - only 50R232 Smartspine LSO high: Remove the two lateral plates/the abdominal
plate.
2) Center the backboard of the brace (see fig.1).
3) Guide the brace around the body and apply equal force to both sides to pull it forward.
4) Attach the right side to the left side of the abdominal strap (see fig.2). Ensure that the hook-
and-loop sections lie flat against each other and are not in contact with clothing or skin.
5) Pull the end of the pull cable forward and attach it to the abdominal strap with the hook-and-
loop fastener (see fig.3).
6) Optional - shortening the pull cable: Pull the winding card out of the pocket (see fig.4),
wrap the pull cable around the winding card (see fig.5) and put the winding card back into
the pocket.
4.3 Cleaning
NOTICE
Use of improper cleaning agents
Damage to the product due to use of improper cleaning agents
►Only clean the product with the approved cleaning agents.
Clean the brace regularly:
1) Fasten all hook-and-loop closures.
2) Hand wash the brace in warm water at 30°C (86°F) with standard mild detergent.
3) Rinse well.
4) Allow to air dry. Do not expose to direct heat sources (e.g. sunlight, stove or radiator).
5 Disposal
Dispose of the product in accordance with national regulations.
