The NEO 8000 contains blower assemblies located above
the Primary and Secondary card cages. This document
describes how to remove and replace either the Primary or
Secondary blower assembly in a NEO 8000 Library from
Overland Storage.
Unpacking the Spare
Carefully unpack the spare part and verify that you have
all the parts:
•Blower assembly
•Three M3x10mm Phillips panhead screws
•These Remove & Replace Instructions
Electrostatic Discharge Information
A discharge of static electricity can damage micro-circuitry
or static-sensitive devices. To help prevent electrostatic
damage, observe the following precautions:
•Transport and store items in static-safe containers.
•Keep electrostatic-sensitive parts in their containers
until they arrive at static-free stations.
•Use a wrist strap and properly-grounded tools.
•Make sure you are always properly grounded when
touching a static-sensitive component or assembly.
•Keep the work area free of non-conductive materials.
•Avoid touching pins, leads, or circuitry.
WARNING: The library’s GUI touch screen does not
completely shut off NEO 8000 system power. To
reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to
equipment, unplug both power cords.
1. Power down the library at the front panel.
2. Set the library circuit breakers to the OFF (“O”)
position.
3. Remove and retain the power cords.
4. Locate the blower assembly being replaced
(Figure 1).
The process is the same for both the Primary and
Secondary blower assemblies.

1. Remove the three M3x10mm screws on the blower
assembly (Figure 2).
2. Pull the blower out just enough to access the
connector located on the rear wiring.
3. Unplug the connector and position the cable harness
so that it doesn’t fall behind the card cage.
4. Position the new blower at the top of the card cage.
5. Reconnect the cable harness to the new blower
wiring.
6. Carefully slide the new blower assembly back into the
opening keeping the cable harness from snagging.
7. Refasten the assembly with the three new M3x10mm
screws.
CAUTION: Be sure to use the 10mm screws for the blower
assembly. Using shorter 8mm card cage screws may strip
the threads and prevent proper assembly.

1. Reattach both power cords.
2. Set the library circuit breakers to the ON (“|”) position.
3. Verify that air is blowing from the new blower fan.
