iPod and Auxiliary input

Interface with HD Radio Option for

General Motors 29bit GMLAN Radios

The uPAC-GM29 interface is a multi input media device compatible with select General

motors 29bit GMLAN radios. The 2 inputs will support any of the following combinations:

iPod/Auxiliary, iPod/HD Radio (HD Radio sold separately) or Auxiliary/HD Radio (HD Radio

sold separately). The iPod input can be used as full control from the radio or full control

from the iPod. The uPAC-GM29 works with navigation and non-navigation radios. If a

factory SAT tuner or DVD video system is present, it will continue to operate as well.

The optional HD Radio tuner is part number uPAC-HDRT. Please visit

Conﬁ guring the uPAC-GM29 (iPod and Auxiliary input as devices):

Before connecting the uPAC-GM29 to the vehicle place all switches in the up (Off) position.

Device 1 should be connected to the iPod cable.

Device 2 should be connected to the auxiliary input cable. If both the 3.5mm cable and RCA connections

are used make sure to only have one of the 2 sources powered at a time.

Note: If the optional HD Radio Tuner is used, refer to the uPAC-HDRT’s connection manual for conﬁ guration and

operation instructions. The USB connection has no function at this time.

Connecting to the vehicle:

With the key off, plug the 14 pin and 16 pin harnesses provided

with the uPAC-GM29 into the radio. Plug the original 14 pin and 16

pin into the receptacle connectors provided with the uPAC-GM29.

Make sure all other connectors (if any) are reconnected to the

factory radio. Plug the 24 pin micro-ﬁ t cable into the uPAC-GM29.

Selecting the input (navigation radio):

Press the XM button. Once in the mode select menu, turn the rotary

tune knob in the top right hand corner to scroll through available sources

(iPod or AUX). Once desired input is displayed, press the ► button to

select the displayed mode. If you are currently in SAT mode you will

need to press the ►ISEEK button instead of the ►button to select the

desired input. If AUX is selected, turning the rotary knob will display AUX 1

or AUX 2. Press the ►

to select (AUX 1 = iPod no radio control and AUX

2 = Device 2).

Selecting the input (all other radios):

Press the BAND button a few times until XM is displayed on the screen.

Once in the mode select menu, turn the rotary knob in the top right hand

corner to scroll through

available sources (iPod or AUX). Once the desired

input is displayed, press the FWD>> butto

n to select the displayed mode. If

you are currently in SAT mode you will need to press the ►ISEEK button

instead of

to select the desired input. If AUX is selected, turning the

Enter IPOD mode using the BAND or XM button (depending on radio).

Press (

FWD>>

or ►) until F-Artist is displayed.

Using the tune knob select an artist currently loaded on the iPod. Press

FWD>>

or ►) to select the artist.

Using the tune knob select an album by the previously selected artist.

Press (

FWD>>

or ►)to select the album.

Using the tune knob select a track from the previously selected album.

Press (

FWD>>

or ►)to select the track to be played.

The track will begin to play and you can select the next or previous track

by using the tune knob on the radio.

Controlling the iPod:

Non-navigation:

Next Track - turn the rotary tune knob to the right one notch.

Prev. Track - turn the rotary tune knob to the left one notch.

Fast Forward - current track press ►ISEEK.

Rewind - current track press I◄SEEK.

Navigation:

Next Track - turn the rotary tune knob to the right one notch.

Prev. Track - turn the rotary tune knob to the left one notch.

Fast Forward - current track

press

►ISEEK

Rewind - current track press I◄SEEK.

Steering Wheel Controls:

▲ - advance to the next track.

▼ - return to the previous track.

►I - enter the Browse menu.

▲ or ▼ - while in the BROWSE menu to scroll through options.

►I - while in the Browse menu to select the displayed option.

Entering Browse Menu / Select

Press the ►button to enter the Browse menu. Use the tune knob

to scroll through the available options. Press ►

to chose the

displayed option.

Exit Browse Menu / Folder Back:

Press ◄to move one step back in the Browse menu. When

the radio displays Browse wait several seconds, this will

automatically exit the Browse menu.

Entering Browse Menu / Select

Press the

FWD>>

button to enter the Browse menu. Use the tune

knob to scroll through the available options. Press

FWD>> to

chose the displayed option.

Exit Browse Menu / Folder Back:

Press <<REV to move one step back in the Browse menu.

When the radio displays Browse wait several seconds, this will
