Operating Instructions
Smoke Cut Filter Commercial Use
Thank you for purchasing this Panasonic product.
■Carefully read through these operating Instructions and the operating instructions of the
projector to ensure safe and proper operation.
■Please save this manual for future use.
ÚAll the projector illustrations in this manual are based on PT-DZ21K model.
Attention
●Do not reuse it. The smoke cut lter to be replaced should be an unused product.
●Do not wash the smoke cut lter with water.
●Please switch the lter type settings of the projector when using this smoke cut lter.
Note
●When the lter type is set to [SPECIAL], the fan speed increases and “U75” appears on the
self-diagnosis display on the side of the projector.
●This lter can be used for approximately 24 hours in smoky environments.
If it is used for more than approximately 24 hours, operating problems may occur and
inspection or repairs might be required.
●Do not use the lter at high altitudes (1 400 m above sea level) or in places where the ambient
temperature is 35°C or higher.

Attention
●Turn the main power o󰀨 before replacing the smoke cut lter.
●Make sure that the projector is stable when attaching the smoke cut lter, and work in an
environment that is safe, even in the event of the smoke cut lter dropping.
Installing the smoke filter
1) Turn o󰀨 the projector and disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet.
●When the power is to be turned o󰀨, be absolutely sure to follow the procedure described
in “Switching o󰀨 the projector” in the operating instructions of the projector.
2) Remove the air lter cover.
●
Remove the air lter cover by turning
the air lter cover xing screw
counterclockwise using the Phillips head
screwdriver until it turns freely.
3) Remove the air lter unit.
●While gently pressing the area near
the center of the frame on the lens side
(front side) of the air lter unit toward
the inside as shown by the arrow,
disengage the frame from the projector
tabs, and draw it out. Then disengage
the frame on the other side from the
tabs, and take out the unit.
●After taking o󰀨 the air lter unit, remove
any accumulations of dust and dirt on
the area of the projector where the air
lter unit is stowed and on the air intake
of the projector.

●Take care not to touch the radiator ns or
other parts when removing the dirt and
dust.

4) Attach the smoke cut lter to the
projector.
●
Catch the smoke cut lter onto the
two tabs on the back of the area of
the projector where the air lter unit is
stowed (area where the smoke cut lter
is stowed), and install the lter following
the instructions in step 3) in reverse.
• There is no di󰀨erence between the top
and bottom, or front and back, of the
smoke cut lter.
• Check that the smoke cut lter has
latched onto the tabs in the area of
the projector where the air lter unit
is stowed (area where the smoke cut
lter is stowed).
●For the steps to take when changing
back to the air lter unit, refer to the
operating instructions of the projector.
5) Install the air lter cover on the projector and use a Phillips screwdriver to
tighten the air lter cover xing screw.
●Insert the air lter cover by following the instructions for step 2) in the reverse order.
Attention
●Be sure to install the air lter unit or smoke cut lter before turning on the projector. Using the
projector without the air lter unit or smoke cut lter will cause dirt and dust to accumulate
inside the projector and could result in malfunction.
• When the projector is used without the air lter unit installed, a message is displayed for
about 30 seconds on the projection screen.
• When using the projector with the smoke cut lter installed, a message is displayed for
about 30 seconds on the projection screen every time the power is turned on.
●Dispose of the packaging materials properly after taking the product out of it.

Changing the filter mode settings
1) After installing the smoke cut lter, turn on the
projector and press <MENU> button. Select
[PROJECTOR SETUP] from the [MAIN MENU] and
press <ENTER> button.

2) Select [SERVICE PASSWORD] in [PROJECTOR
SETUP] Menu and press <ENTER> button.
3) Enter “1111” by pressing <1> on the remote control
and then press <ENTER> button in the service
password entry screen.
4) Press tu to switch from [NORMAL] to [SPECIAL]
in the [AIR FILTER] screen.

Note
●The message [CHECK THE FILTER.] will appear to conrm whether the air lter unit is
switched to the smoke cut lter.
Attention
●After replacing the smoke cut lter with the air lter unit, re-set [FILTER TYPE] to [NORMAL],
and check that “U75” is cleared from the self-diagnosis display on the side of the projector.
Operation problems might occur if the lter settings are not changed.
5) Press <MENU> button to escape from the Menu.

When discarding this product, please contact your local authorities or dealer and ask for the
correct method of disposal.
