PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This PestWest Naturale ying insect control system
is made using the highest quality materials. The
body work is made from Bamboo. The Naturale
can be wall mounted or free standing on a table
top or cabinet. The Naturale has a universal input
range meaning it can operate from a wide range
of supply voltages from 100-277V 50/60Hz, this
allows the system to be used in many dierent
countries (by simply changing the power cord to
a type with a plug suited to the local outlet
sockets)
UNPACKING YOUR SYSTEM
Each system is carefully inspected and packed
before leaving our factory. Before discarding the
outer carton, examine for obvious evidence of
transport damage. Remove the system and pay
particular attention to the removal of all packing
materials including any transit packing. Including
the release paper o the glue board.
MODE OF OPERATION
The PestWest Naturale y trap operates on the
principle that most ying insects are attracted
to light, particularly to the ultraviolet (UV) end
of the light spectrum. Since insects are still very
active and will y at night, traps should be left
operating continuously, i.e.: 24 hours a day.
FINDING THE BEST PLACEMENT FOR YOUR
SUNBURST
System ecacy can be aected by the intensity
of other light sources (overhead lighting and
daylight). Place or mount the system where
competition from other light sources is minimal.
In food areas, place or mount close to, but not
directly over, exposed food or preparation surfaces.
Observe where ies tend to congregate and/or y
and then place or mount your system close to that
area.
Place or mount the system(s) adjacent to y ingress
point(s), such as service and/or overhead doors
and windows.
COVERAGE
Keep is mind that the brighter the surrounding
indoor light and daylight, the greater the number
of systems needed for optimum y attraction.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The PestWest Sunburst has 2 keyhole slots on the
rear panel for wall mounting. The Sunburst can be
placed (free-standing) on a table or cabinet.
The system comes with a 6-foot power cord
with IEC C14 connector at one end and a 3 pin
grounded USA plug on the other end. The system
will operate from a 100-277 volt 50/60Hz supply.
If the moulded-on plug is removed from the
supplied cord, disposed of safely. Ensure that once
installed, the power cord is adequately secured.
Before installing any system, please remove all
packaging.
Using the system as a template, mark o 2 drill
holes onto the mounting surface. Using the screws
and plastic plugs provided, hold the system in
place at level. Note: If the wall is of drywall/sheet-
rock, appropriate hardware must be used to ensure
the system is be secure.
Once installed, you will need to remove backing
paper from the glue board to reveal the glued
surface. Then slot the glue into the system.
USER-MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
DISCONNECT THE POWER BEFORE
UNDERTAKING ANY SERVICING OR
MAINTENANCE
To maintain the attractive appearance of the
systems, it should be cleaned/wiped down as
often as required. Use a cloth dampened with
water and detergent or a proprietary cleaner. Do
not use scouring pads or abrasives.
GLUE BOARD REPLACEMENT
Due to insect contamination the glue boards
should be changed when full or at least every
eight weeks. Always use PestWest glue boards
to ensure peak ecacy. Remove the backing
paper from the new board in a single swift
motion; otherwise it will tend to remain rmly
attached. Should this occur, re-apply the peeled
back section and repeat.
Other brands of glue or glue boards may not
have eective UV inhibitors that PestWest brand
incorporates in this system, therefore, ONLY
PestWest brand glue boards and components must
be installed in the system. PestWest recommends
an eight-week glue board replacement cycle.
Your system may capture a wide range of insect
pests. While the recommended eightweek board
replacement cycle remains unaltered, the eective
life of the glue for a wide range of insects is
enhanced.
Simply remove the used glue board from the
machine by pulling out of the front cover.
Remove the release paper from the new glue
board before putting it in the system. Insert the
new glue board into the system by sliding it into
the curved front so that the sticky surface is facing
the lamp.
UV LAMP REPLACEMENT
Lamps are most attractive to the target ying
insects when less than one year old. This is
because the UV light emitted by the lamps at a
wavelength of 350-375 nanometers diminishes
with use. Light of this wavelength is invisible to
the human eye. The blue/violet colored light,
which we can see is not at all representative of
the actual UV light emissions. Daily switching on
and o of the lamps results in an even faster loss
of the eective UV emission.
THEREFORE IT IS MOST EFFECTIVE TO LEAVE
THE SYSTEMS SWITCHED ON CONTINUOUSLY
AND TO CHANGE THE LAMPS AT LEAST ONCE
PER YEAR (PREFERABLY AT THE ONSET OF
INCREASED FLIGHT ACTIVITY AFTER THE
WINTER).
Disconnect the power to the system before
attempting to change the lamp. Wait for the lamp
to cool before touching. The lamp has a push t
base, to remove the lamp, simply pull it upwards
and it will unclip from the lamp holder. Installing
the new lamp is a reversal of the above procedure.
