others. If you are unsure whether this product is appropriate for your

CAUTION
Please read and follow the instructions in this manual. Proper fit of the
collar is important.Acollar worn for too long, or made too tight on the pet’s
neck may cause skin damage. This is called bed sores; it is also called
decubitus ulcers or pressure necrosis.
•Avoid leaving the collar on the dog for more than 12 hours per day.
• When possible reposition the collar on the pet’s neck every 1 to 2 hours.
• Check the fit to prevent excessive pressure; follow the instructions in this
manual.
• Never connect a lead to the electronic collar; it will cause excessive
pressure on the contacts.
• When using a separate collar for a lead, don’t put pressure on the
electronic collar.
• Wash the dog’s neck area and the contacts of the collar weekly with a
damp cloth.
• Examine the contact area daily for signs of a rash or a sore.
• If a rash or sore is found, discontinue use of the collar until the skin has
healed.
• If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian.

These steps will help keep your pet safe and comfortable. Millions of pets
are comfortable while they wear stainless steel contacts. Some pets are
sensitive to contact pressure. You may find after some time that your pet is
very tolerant of the collar. If so, you may relax some of these precautions.
It is important to continue daily checks of the contact area. If redness or
sores are found, discontinue use until the skin has fully healed.
• You may need to trim the hair in the area of the Contact Points. Never
shave the dog’s neck; this may lead to a rash or infection.
• You should not make the collar any tighter than is required for good
contact.Acollar that is too tight will increase the risk of pressure necrosis
in the contact area.

How the System Works
The PetSafe
®
100 m Remote Trainer has been proven safe, comfortable, and effective for all pets greater
than 3.6 kg (8 lbs) and at least 6 months old.This system assists you in controlling your pet without a lead
in a range up to 100 metres. At the push of a button, the Remote Transmitter sends a signal, activating the
Receiver Collar. Using the Remote Trainer consistently and correctly, many misbehaviours that your pet
exhibits can be corrected or any basic obedience commands can be taught.
Important: The Remote Trainer has a range of up to 100 metres. Depending on the
way you hold the RemoteTransmitter, the maximum range may vary. For consistent
results at longer ranges, hold the Remote Transmitter in a vertical position away from
your body and above your head.Terrain, weather, vegetation, transmission from other
radio devices, and other factors will affect the maximum range.

Key Definitions
RemoteTransmitter:Transmits the radio signal to the Receiver Collar. It is waterproof.
Transmitter Indicator Light: Indicates that a button is pressed and also serves as a low-battery indicator.
Intensity Dial: Provides multiple Stimulation Levels so you can match the correction to your pet’s temperament.
Upper Button: Delivers an Audible Tone for one second then Continuous Stimulation at the level set by the
Intensity Dial while the button is continually pressed. Continue pressing the button after the Audible Tone and the
tone will be replaced by Continuous Stimulation.To further understand this process, please use the test light for a
visual aid (see the “Test Light Instructions” section).
Lower Button: Delivers an Audible Tone for one second then Continuous Stimulation at a level slightly higher
than the Intensity Dial. Note:This button will not deliver Stimulation higher than level 8. For example, if the Intensity
Dial is set to 8, pushing the Lower Button will not deliver a higher Stimulation Level.
Side Button:Delivers an AudibleTone only.
Charging Jack: For connecting the charger. Although the Remote Transmitter is waterproof without the charger
cover, keep the cover in place when not charging to keep debris out of the opening.
Receiver Collar:Receives the radio signal from the Remote Transmitter. It is waterproof.
On/Off Button: Momentarily pressing and releasing this button turns the Receiver Collar on and off.
Contact Points:The contacts through which the Receiver Collar delivers Stimulation.
Receiver Indicator Light: Indicates when the Receiver Collar has been turned on or off and also serves as a
low-battery indicator.
Continuous Stimulation:You control when and how long Stimulation is delivered to your pet through the
Receiver Collar’s Contact Points. Before the Stimulation, your pet will hear an Audible Tone. For safety, when the
Upper or Lower Button is pressed for 8 seconds or more, the Remote Transmitter will “time-out.”The button will
need to be released and pressed again before additional Stimulation can be delivered.
AudibleTone: Use the Side Button to send an Audible Tone to your pet without Stimulation.

Prepare the RemoteTransmitter
Charge the Remote Transmitter
1. Lift the rubber cover protecting the Remote
Transmitter Charging Jack.
2. Connect the charger to the Remote Transmitter
Charging Jack.
3. Plug the charger into a standard wall outlet.
4. Charge the Remote Transmitter for 24
hours for the first charge. Subsequent charges
take only 12 hours. Note:The Transmitter Indicator
Light will flash after 12 hours of charging. For the first
charge, continue to charge the Remote Transmitter for
an additional 12 hours.
5.
When charging is completed, replace the rubber cover.
Note: Approximate battery life between charges is 40 to
60 hours, depending on frequency of use.

Transmitter Rechargeable Battery Pack
• The rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery pack in the Transmitter is not memory
sensitive and does not require depletion before charging.
• The Transmitter comes partially charged from the factory, but will require a full charge (24
hours) before the first use.
• Remember - Always keep the Transmitter away from flame.
• When storing the unit for long periods, remember to regularly give theTransmitter a full charge
(12 hours).This should be done once every 4 to 6 weeks.
• Excessive overcharging can shorten battery life. After initial charge, never leave theTransmitter
charging for more than 12 hours.
• If your equipment has not been charged for an extended period, you may experience a decrease
in battery life the first few uses. Afterwards, the battery life will return to previous capacity levels.
•You should expect hundreds of recharge cycles from your battery pack. However, all
rechargeable batteries lose capacity over time relative to the number of recharge cycles they
experience.This is normal. If your operating time drops to half of the original life, contact the
Customer Care Centre to purchase a new battery pack.
• The battery pack should last for a period of 3-5 years.When a battery pack needs replacement,
you can order a new pack by contacting our Customer Care Centre or visiting our website
at www.petsafe.net. Please do not open the Remote Transmitter until you have received the
replacement.

Prepare the Receiver Collar
Your Receiver Collar comes with short Contact Points installed. Use the long Contact
Points for pets with long or thick hair.Tighten the Contact Points with the Test Light
Tool one-half turn beyond finger tight (2A). Check the tightness weekly.
To Insert and Remove the Batteries
1. Remove the screws with a small Phillips screwdriver (2B, 2D).
2. For the LDT-433 only, push the Battery Lid up according
to the arrows stamped on the Battery Lid (2B).
3. Slide the Battery Lid out.
4.
Install two (2), 3-volt batteries positive (+) side up (2C, 2E).
5. Slide the Battery Lid into the Receiver Collar.
6.
Reinstall the screws (2C, 2F). Do not over-tighten the screws.

many retailers. Contact the Customer Care Centre or visit our

To Turn the Receiver Collar On:
1. Press and hold the On/Off Button until the Receiver Indicator Light comes on and
the Receiver Collar beeps 5 times.
2. Release the On/Off Button.
Once the Receiver Collar has been turned on, press the Side Button of the Remote
Transmitter.The Receiver Collar should beep for as long as the Side Button is pressed.
If it does not, see the “Reset the Receiver Collar” section.
The Receiver Indicator Light will flash once every 4 to 5 seconds if the batteries are low.
To Turn the Receiver Collar Off:
1. Press and hold the On/Off Button until the Receiver Indicator Light comes on and
the Receiver Collar beeps 2 times.
2. Release the On/Off Button.
Note:To extend the life of the batteries, turn the Receiver Collar off when it is not in use.
Important: If the Receiver Collar is left on continuously, the maximum battery life
(before replacing batteries) will be two weeks.

Fit the Receiver Collar
Important: The proper fit and placement of your Receiver Collar is important for
effective training.The Contact Points must have direct contact with your pet’s skin on
the underside of his neck.
Please refer to page 2 for important safety information.
To assure a proper fit, please follow these steps:
1. Have your pet standing comfortably (3A).
2. Centre the Contact Points underneath your pet’s neck, touching the skin (3B).
If your pet has a long or thick coat, use the enclosed long Contact Points to reach
through the hair.

CAUTION
You may need to trim the hair in the area of the Contact Points.

3.The Receiver Collar should fit snugly, yet
loose enough to allow one finger to fit
between the collar and your pet’s neck (3C).
4. Allow your pet to wear the collar for several
minutes then recheck the fit. Check the fit
again as your pet becomes more comfortable
with the Receiver Collar. If your pet’s neck is
less than 300 mm around, you will need to
thread the part of the collar which includes
the antenna through the buckle. It will be a
tight fit.
CAUTION
You should not make the collar any more tight than is required for good
contact. A collar that is too tight will increase the risk of pressure necrosis in the
contact area.
5.Trim the collar as follows (3D):
a. Mark the desired length of the collar with a pen. Allow for growth if your pet is
young or grows a thick winter coat.
b. Remove the Receiver Collar from your pet
and cut off the excess. Important: Do not
cut the part of the collar containing the
Antenna.
c. Before placing the Receiver Collar back
onto your pet, seal the edge of the cut collar
by applying a flame along the frayed edge.

Care and Cleaning
•Your dog’s neck and the Contact Points must be washed weekly with a damp cloth.
• Be sure that your pet’s neck is thoroughly dry before placing the Receiver Collar back
on his neck.
CAUTION
Risk of skin damage.
• For comfort, safety and effectiveness of this product, please ensure that you check
the fit of your pet’s collar frequently. If any skin irritation is observed, discontinue the
use of the collar for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your
veterinarian.
• Do not attach a lead to the collar. This can result in pulling the Contact Points too
tightly against your pet’s neck.Attach a lead to a separate, non-metallic collar or
harness, making sure the extra collar does not put pressure on the Contact Points.

To Re-Thread the Collar

The slide buckle prevents the collar from
becoming loose around your pet’s neck.
The ridges must be facing up; the collar will
slip if it is not properly threaded.

Find the Best Stimulation Level
for Your Pet
Important: Always start at the lowest Stimulation Level and work your way up.
The Remote Trainer has 8 different Stimulation Levels.This allows you to choose the
Stimulation that is best for your pet.
Once you have placed the Receiver Collar on your pet, it is time to find the Stimulation
Level that is best for him.This is called the Recognition Level.
A slight change in your pet’s behaviour, such as looking around in curiosity, scratching
at his collar, or flicking his ears, indicates the Recognition Level that is best for him.
Follow the steps below to find your pet’s Recognition Level:
1. Starting at Level 1 on the Intensity Dial, press the Upper Button continuously for 2
to 3 seconds.
2. If your pet shows no reaction, repeat the Stimulation Level several times before
moving up to the next level.
3. Repeat each Stimulation Level several times before moving to the next level.
4. Move up through the Stimulation Levels until your pet reliably responds to the
Stimulation.
5. If your pet continues to show no response at Level 8, check the fit of the Receiver
Collar. If your pet has long or thick hair, replace the Contact Points with the longer
set.Then go back to #1 and repeat the process. If this still does not yield any results,
your pet’s hair will need to be trimmed around the Contact Points.
If all of these steps have been done and your pet continues to show no reaction to the
Stimulation, see the “Test Light Instructions” section.
If after completing all of these steps your pet still does not indicate he is feeling the
Stimulation, please contact Customer Care Centre or visit our website at
www.petsafe.net.

Reset the Receiver Collar
To reset the Receiver Collar to work with a new Remote Transmitter or to reprogram a
new Receiver Collar to work with your existing Remote Transmitter:
1.Turn the Receiver Collar off.
2. Press and hold the On/Off Button until the Receiver Indicator Light comes on and
the Receiver Collar beeps 5 times.
3. Continue to hold the On/Off button until the Receiver Indicator Light has turned off.
4. Press and hold the Upper Button on the Remote Transmitter until the Receiver
Indicator Light flashes 5 times.You may need to hold both units 60 cm - 90 cm
(2 ft - 3 ft) from each other before this occurs. Once the Receiver Indicator Light has
flashed five (5) times, the Receiver Collar has been reset. If the Receiver Indicator
Light does not flash 5 times, start again and repeat the process.

General Tips
Training Instructions
• Eliminate one misbehaviour or teach one obedience command at a time. If you move too fast with the training,
your pet may become confused.
• Be consistent. Give your pet an Audible Tone or Stimulation with each misbehaviour.
• Do not over-correct your pet. Use as few Stimulations as possible to train your pet.
• Unless you can supervise him, it is recommended that you restrict your pet from situations in which he has
a history of misbehaving. However, setting up a situation as a training session can dramatically improve your
chances of success.
• If your pet reacts to the training by hiding or acting fearful, redirect his attention to a simple and appropriate
behaviour such as the “Sit” command.
• Pets should be at least 6 months old before using the Remote Trainer.
• Only let responsible family members use the Remote Trainer. It is not a toy!
• The Lower Button can be used to deliver a slightly higher Stimulation Level on occasions when your pet ignores
his Recognition Level. Using this button is a quicker alternative than adjusting the Intensity Dial.
• The objective is to train your pet to respond to your spoken command and the Audible Tone from the receiver
in normal circumstances. After proper training, the use of Stimulation should only be necessary if your pet
repeats unwanted behaviour.

Is the Stimulation safe for
my pet? While the Stimulation is unpleasant, it is harmless to your pet. Electronic
training devices require interaction and training from the owner to achieve
desired results.
How old does a pet have to
be before using the 100 m
Remote Trainer?
The system should only be used with pets who are over 6 months of age. If your
pet is injured or its mobility is otherwise impaired, contact your veterinarian or
professional trainer before use.Your pet should be able to learn basic obedience
commands such as “Sit” or “Stay.”
Once my pet is trained and has
been obeying my commands,
will he have to continue to wear
the Receiver Collar?
Probably not. He may need to wear the Receiver Collar from time to time for
reinforcement.
Is the Receiver Collar
waterproof? Yes.When changing the batteries, be sure to keep the area free from dirt and
debris. Also, make sure the screws are flush with the Battery Lid.
Can I use the 100 m Remote
Trainer on aggressive pets? We do not recommend any of our products to be used on aggressive pets.
We recommend you contact your local veterinarian or professional trainer to
determine if your pet might be aggressive.
Will I get exactly 100 metres of
range with the 100 m
Remote Trainer?
The range you get with your 100 m Remote Trainer will vary according to
terrain, weather, vegetation, as well as transmission from other radio devices.
To get the maximum amount of range, please refer to “How the SystemWorks”
section of this guide.
How long can I continuously
deliver Stimulation to my pet? The maximum amount of time you can press the Stimulation Button and
deliver Stimulation to your pet continuously is 8 seconds. After eight seconds,
the Remote Transmitter will time-out, and the Stimulation Button must be
released and pressed again.
What do I do if my pet’s neck
becomes red and irritated? This condition is due to the Contact Points irritating the skin. Discontinue use
of the Receiver Collar for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48 hours,
see your veterinarian. Once the skin returns to normal, replace Receiver Collar,
and monitor the skin condition closely.
Can I attach a lead to the
Receiver Collar? Do not attach a lead to the collar.This can result in pulling the Contact Points too
tightly against your pet’s neck. Attach a lead to a separate, non-metallic collar or
harness, making sure the extra collar does not put pressure on the Contact Points.

Troubleshooting
The answers to these questions should help you solve any problem you have with this system. If
they do not, please contact the Customer Care Centre or visit our website at www.petsafe.net.
My pet is not
responding when I
press a button.
• Check to see if the Receiver Collar has been turned on.
• If your range has reduced from the first time you have used it,
please check to see if the battery is low in either the Remote
Transmitter or Receiver Collar.
• Many factors can impact the range you have with the 100 m
Remote Trainer. For a list of these factors, please refer to “How the
System Works.”
•You can verify the Receiver Collar is delivering Stimulation to your
pet by placing the Test Light, enclosed in your kit, on the Receiver
Collar. Please refer to the “Test Light Instructions” section for
details.
• Increase the Intensity Dial. Refer to “Find the Best Stimulation
Level ForYour Pet” for more information.
• Make sure the Receiver Collar’s Contact Points are placed snugly
against your pet’s skin. Refer to “Fit the Receiver Collar” for more
information.
The Receiver Collar
will not turn on.
• Check that two (2) batteries have been installed properly. See “To
Insert and Remove the Batteries.”
The Receiver Collar is
not responding to the
Remote Transmitter.
• Verify the Receiver Collar has been turned on. Refer to “To Turn
the Receiver Collar On.”
• Refer to “Reset the Receiver Collar.”
Test Light Instructions
1.Turn the Receiver Collar On.
2. Hold the Test Light Contacts to the Contact Points.
3. Press a Stimulation Button on the Remote Transmitter.
4.The Test Light will flash.
Note: At higher levels, the Test Light will flash brighter.
5.Turn the Receiver Collar off.
Save the Test Light for future testing.
Note: If the Test Light does not flash, replace the batteries and re-test. If the Test Light still does not flash,
contact the Customer Care Centre or visit our website at www.petsafe.net.

Battery Disposal
Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions; check the regulations in your area
before discarding spent batteries.The Receiver Collars operate on two (2) CR2032 Lithium coin cell
batteries with a 3 Volt, 220 mAH capacity. Replace only with the equivalent battery. Please see page 8 for
instructions on how to remove the batteries from the product for separate disposal.

At end of product life, use these battery removal instructions for final disposal of the battery pack:
• Using a number 1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the case screws.
• Remove the case back or cover.
• Remove the old battery pack.

damaging the wires. Shorting the battery wires may cause fire or explosion.These instructions are not valid for

votre animal. Des millions d’animaux n’ont aucun problème à porter les
contacteurs en acier inoxydable. Certains sont sensibles à la pression
des contacteurs. Après un certain temps, il se peut que votre chien
tolère très bien le collier. Si c’est le cas, certaines précautions peuvent
être assouplies. Il est important de continuer à contrôler les zones de
contact. En cas de rougeur ou de plaie, arrêtez d’utiliser le collier jusqu’à
la guérison complète de la peau.
• Il peut s’avérer nécessaire de couper les poils de votre chien dans
zone située autour des contacteurs. Ne rasez jamais le cou de votre
chien, car cela risquerait de provoquer des irritations ou une infection.
• Assurez-vous de ne pas serrer le collier de manière excessive. Un
collier trop serré accroît le risque de nécrose cutanée dans la zone de
contact du collier.

Le collier de dressage PetSafe®de 100 m s’est avéré sûr, pratique efficace pour tous les animaux de plus de 3,6 kg et
âgés d’au moins 6 mois. Ce dispositif vous aide à contrôler votre animal sans laisse sur une portée maximale de 100
mètres. D’une simple pression sur une touche, l’émetteur à distance envoie un signal qui active le collier-récepteur.
Grâce à une utilisation correcte et cohérente du système de dressage à distance, nombre des comportements
indésirables de votre animal peuvent être corrigés et des ordres de base peuvent lui être enseignés.
Important: Le collier de dressage offre une portée maximale de 100 mètres. Cette
portée peut varier selon la manière dont vous tenez l’émetteur à distance. Pour des
résultats cohérents sur de plus longues portées, tenez l’émetteur à distance en position
verticale à distance de votre corps et au-dessus de votre tête. La configuration du
terrain, les conditions météorologiques, la végétation, les émissions émanant d’autres
appareils radios ainsi que d’autres facteurs sont susceptibles d’affecter la portée
maximale de l’appareil.
