Iftheprobe is suspect,checkitsresistanceand the oil/air
temperatureatwhichitwas taken. Compare these values
onthe chart below.
Ifthe probereturns an opencircuit or 0Ohms readingit
shouldbe replaced. Iftheresistance varies morethan30
Ohmswhenbeingcheckedbetween325-375°F theprobe
willgiveafalsetemperaturereadingonthecomputerand
shouldbe calibrated(upto 10°F) orreplaced. However,
itwillcontinuetooperateataslightlyhigherorlowertem-
perature.
Allowthe oilto cool andcheck the proberesistance ata
lowertemperature.Ascanbeseenfromthechartagreater
variationcanbe tolerated atalowertemperature.
HeatDemandContactor:
Theheatdemand contactor hasa24VACcoilandwill
energizewhenthecorrectvoltageissuppliedtothecoil.
Whenenergized,thecontactswillclose,allowingcurrent
toflowthroughtheelements.Thecoilresistanceis192
ohmsoutofcircuit.
HiLimit:
The hi-limitswitchisanormallyclosedswitchuntilthe
temperatureatthe hi-limit bulbreaches425°F±20°F.
WARNING!
Thistest shouldbeperformed bya qualified
technicianonly! Monitorthefryerclosely.This
test will cause the oil to heat past the normal
operatingtemperature andcancause damageto
themachine andits operatorifcareisnot taken.
WARNING!
This test will cause the elements to heat
continuously. Remove test resistor when test is
complete. Leaving the test resistor in the fryer
couldcausedamage toequipmentand/or personal
injury.
Totest the hi-limit,usea2kΩ- 5kΩresistor tosimulate
a230°F - 275°Ftemperature.This will causethe
elementstoheatcontinuouslyuntilthehi-limittripsorthe
fryeristurnedoff.
•Ifthefryeris equipped with acomputerordigital
controller, plugtheresistorinatconnectorJ41
behindthefrontpanel.
•Ifthe fryerisequipped with asolidstate
controllerbehindthedoor, plug the resistorinat
connectorJ43behindthefront panel.
Iftheswitch does nottripbetweenthe prescribed
limitsitisdefectiveandshouldbereplaced.Once
tripped,theswitchcannotbereset until the oil has
cooledto approximately 375°F+ 20°F. If the
switchdoesnot reset afteroilhascooled it is
defective.
Oncetheoilhascooledthehi-limitresetbutton
mustbepressed to reset thehi-limitrelayonCE
andexportunitsonly.
DrainValve &ReturnValve Switches:
Theseswitchesareamagneticallyoperated
proximityswitches.WhentheDrainValvehandleis
movedtotheopenposition,theActuatorwillmove
awayfromtheswitchcausingtheswitchtoopen.
WhentheDrainValveisclosedtheswitchwill
close.
OpeningtheREDreturnvalvehandlewillclosethe
proximityswitchcausingthe "pumpon"relaytobe
energized.Thepumpwillbegintopump.Closing
thereturnvalvehandle willde-energizetherelay
andthepumpwillstoppumping. These switches
canalso be checkedwithanOhm meter.The
normalgapbetween theActuator and theSensor
switchon the valvehandleis 1/8"-1/4" (3-6mm).
Transformer:
Transformersaremultipleinputvoltage24voltoutput
voltageandcanbecheckedbyreadingtheinputand
output voltages.Aquick check for 24VAC can be
done at the relay board behind the computer. The
ACledwillbelitiftheF1fuseisgoodandtheboard
isreceiving24VAC
