Inheritingtheconvenienceof Plug-n-Play Internetaccess, the PLANETWSG-401 istheidealsolution
for establishing Hot Spot Internet service applications. Via built-in billing mechanismand integrated with
receipt printing capabilitiesmakesthe PLANETWSG-401 suitablefor providing Internet access of
businesses and public areas applications, suchas hotel, cyber café,train stations, schoollibraries and
airports.
The PLANETWSG-401 comprises802.11b+, wireless access point, interface, a4-port auto-sensing,
auto-MDI/MDI-X10/100Mbpsswitch,andastandard 10/100Base-TXWANport providing superior
Internet access for wired, and wireless subscribers. Internet subscriber gateway WSG-401 combines
all thefunctionalitiesinasingle, tiny box,WSG-401 can work independently,no enormousRADIUS
system integration, and no muchcomputer expertise required, this benefit customerto deploy their Hot
Spot business faster and easier than ever.WSG-ACG,acompact thermal printer allowing machine
operators, clerks and cashiers to print out billinginformation.

The built-inweb management interfacein WSG-401 bringsmost conveniencetosystem
administrators or machineoperators while configuring machine or setting up subscriber
privileges in movements. With time increments, clerks or machine operators may print out, billing
and other user information with time increments are convenientlyprinted on the button-operated
printer includedwith thePLANETWSG-401. Timeincrements may be compiled simplyby
pressingtheprinter button multiple times. Nocomputersorcomplexback-end subscriber
management systems are required for deployment.

LEDs Indication
LED State Description
Off WSG-401 is not receivingelectrical power. Power
Green WSG-401 is receiving electrical power.
Green The WAN port is usedtoconnect your xDSLor Cable modem. WAN
Green (Blinking) Data is intransmitting andreceiving on WAN port.
Green Aport has established avalid 10/100Mbps network connection.
Green (Blinking) 10/100Mbps traffic is traversing the port.
LAN (1-4)
Off Port has not established any network connection.

2. Installation
Following sessions are physical installation stepsof WSG-401. Please refer to the illustration and follow
the steps belowto complete theinstallation of your device.
2.1 Wall-Mounting
The WSG-401 can bewall-mounted on a wall by applying thetwo mounting brackets onscrews.

Pleaserefer tothefollowing instructions for mounting a WSG-401 ona wall or other surface.
1. Install two screws on awall according to the relative positions shown below.

2. Hang WSG-401 on the wall by sliding thetwo screws in themounting brackets.
Note:If the screws arenot properly anchored, the strainof thecables connected to the WSG-401 rear
panel connectors couldpull out the WSG-401 from the wall.
2.2 Connecting the Antennas
PLANET WSG-401 provides two antenna connectors on the rear of the unit for wireless subscribers.

2.3 Installation Requirements
Before installing the WSG-401, make sure your network meets the following requirements.
System Requirements
The WSG-401 requires one of the following types of software:
l Windows 98 SecondEdition/NT/2000/XP
l Red Hat Linux7.3 or later version
l MAC OS X10.2.4or laterversion
l Any TCP/IP-enabled systems like Mac OS and UNIX(TCP/IPprotocol installed)
l Standard phone linefor xDSLmodem
Or Coaxial cable for Cablemodem
l Web Browser Software (Microsoft I.E 5.0or later version or Netscape Navigator 5.0 orlater
version)
l One computer with an installed 10Mbps, 100Mbps or 10/100Mbps Ethernet card
l UTP network Cable with a RJ-45connection (Package contents)
Note: Prepare twisted-pair cables with RJ-45plugs. Use Cat.5 cable for all connections. Make sure
each cable not exceed 328feet (Approximately 100 meters).
ISPRequirements
Verify whether your ISPusefixed or dynamicIP. If it is afixed IP, be sure toget the IPfrom your ISP.
For dynamic IP, which is mostly used, thePC will get the IPautomatically whenever it hooks upon
the modem.

The DynamicIPsettings forthe PC
We recommend that you leave your IP settings as automatically assigned. Bydefault, WSG-401is a
DHCP server, and it will give your PC thenecessary IPsettings.
2.4 Getting Start
1. Placethe WSG-401 and Miniaccount generator printer on aflat work surface.
2. Connect theDB25connector of printer cableintothe device port on the rear of the WSG-401.
3. Plugtheotherend oftheprinter cable intotheRJ11port of the miniaccount generatorprinter. Check
that the account generator printerstatus LED lights.
4. Ensure that your modemandcomputer are bothswitched on.
5. Usethesuppliedcableto connect theWSG-401's WANport tothemodem. Check that the
Cable/xDSL Status LED lights.
6. Connect your computer to one of the 10/100 LAN ports on the WSG-401.Check that the LAN Port

7. Configure the further parameters via aweb browser.

3. Configuring the WSG-401
3.1 Setting Wizard
Step 1: Start your browser, and then enter thefactory default IP address 192.168.0.1 in your browser s
locationbox. Press Enter.
Step 2: The WSG-401 configuration tools menu will appear. In the Username and Password field, type
the factory defaultusername(admin)andpassword (password)and click “Getting
Started”.If you are first time settingthe system, the wizard setup screen will appear.You will
be guided, step-by-step, through a basic setupprocedure.

Note:
FIf you would liketochange the password please see Step10.
FUsername and Passwordcanconsist of up to 20 alphanumeric characters and are casesensitive.
FIf for some reason your password is lost or you cannot gain access to theWSG-401 Configuration
Program, please press thereset button to load the device to manufacturer defaults.
FIf the WSG-401 doesnt send packet in5 minutes (default), the WSG-401 wills logout automatically.
FProxy needs to set disable first when administrator accesses admin UI.
Step 3: Internet Connection Setting
Select the appropriate Internet connection type toconnect toyour ISP.

The devicecanwork as aDHCPclient. Thisallowsthedevicetoobtain the IP address and other
TCP/IP settingsfromyour ISP.If your xDSL/Cable comes with thisfeature, please enable Use DHCP
