FUNCTION
This instrument can be used to detect and evaluate the
moisture level in sawn timber (also paper, cardboard) and
hardened materials (mortar, concrete and plaster). It
displays the moisture level directly. In addition, the device
can be set up to measure the ambient temperature.

1. Keep the instrument dry.
2. Keep the probe clean.
3. Keep the instrument and battery out of reach of infant
and child.
4. Some factors (such as material type and temperature can
affect moisture measurement result and may make it
necessary to correct the displayed value.Don’t use the
instrument in the case of inspections or for reference
purposes.
5. When the symbol “ ” appears,the batteries are low
and should be replaced.
Ensure that battery polarity connections are correct
when replacing batteries.
If you will not use the instrument for a long period,remove
the batteries.

measuring on roads, construction sites, etc.)

Never attempt to repair the product yourself. In case of
damage, contact a local dealer.
Refer to section "Technical data".The device is designed
for use in areas ently habitable by humans. Do not use
the product in explosion hazardous areas or in aggressive
environments.

DISPLAY
INDICATOR FOR MOISTURE
Open the battery compartment
and insert a 9V battery
according to the symbols.
1.INSERT BATTERY
PRESS to turn on/off the device.
2.SWITCHING ON/OFF
a. After the instrument has been turned on. Press the
“SELECT” button to select Wood moisture measurement
mode or Material moisture measurement mode.
b. Press the “°C/°F” button to select Celsius degree
measurement mode or Fahrenheit degree measurement
mode .
3.TO CHANGE THE MEASURING MODE
a. For temperature measurements, the display shows the
current environment temperature directly.
b. For moisture measurements, Take off probe cover and
insert the pins into the object approx. 5mm, which display
the containing water of the object.
4.PERFORMING MEASUREMENT
a. Only the moisture measurement status, press the HOLD
key to lock the measured values
b. For temperature measurements, press the HOLD key to
be useless.
5.DATA HOLD
The users can set two
reference value, namely AL1
and AL2, to estimate that
whether the material is dry
(green), moist (orange) or
wet (red).
Use “hold▲” or “°C/°F ▼” to change the number to the value
you desire. To exit the setting mode, press “select” again.

If you don’t operate the instrument (or the reading
does not change)for about 5 minutes, the instrument
will turn off automatically.
Auto backlight will light up when it is getting dark
around the sensor.

regulations. Dispose of the product appropri-ately in
accordance with the national regulations in force in your

WARRANTY
The Instrument PMX-42B has a two-year warranty.
For further information on this, contact your dealer.
This warranty is void if product is used for commercial
purposes. This warranty is not transferable and does not
cover products damaged by misuse, neglect, accident,
alterations or use and maintenance other than that
specified in the owner's manual. This warranty does not
apply to any expendable parts that can wear from normal
use. This warranty excludes any accessories.
NOTICE ABOUT PRODUCT CARE
This product is a precision instrument which must be
handled with care. Do not subject the device to jolts or
vibrations. Clean with a soft cloth and glass cleaner.
Transport and storage in original case if included in the
scope of delivery.
