Your Scooter design combines the most advanced state-of-the-art components with modern, attractive styling.
We are certain that the design features and trouble-free operation will add convenience to your daily living and
ensure complete satisfaction.
At Pride, your safety is important to us. Please read and follow all of the instructions in this manual before
you attempt to operate your Scooter for the first time. These instructions were produced for your benefit.
Your understanding of these instructions is essential for the safe operation of your new Pride Scooter.
Pride is not liable for damage to property or personal injury arising out of the unsafe use of a Pride Scooter. Pride
is also not liable for any property damage or personal injury arising out of the failure of any person and or/user to
following the instructions and recommendations set forth in this manual or any other instructions or recommenda-

II. SAFETY
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
nDo not operate your new Celebrity for the first time without completely reading and understanding this owners
manual.
nDo not carry passengers on your Celebrity.
nDo not leave the key in the key switch when your Celebrity is unattended.
nMake certain that the seat is locked into place and the key is removed from the key switch before mounting or
dismounting your Celebrity. Also make certain that the seat is in a locked position when you operate your
Celebrity.
nReduce your Celebritys speed when driving on uneven terrain and soft surfaces.
nReduce your Celebritys speed when cornering.
nNever drive your Celebrity across the side of a hill or diagonally up or down a hill, and do not stop, if possible,
while driving up or down an incline.
nProceed with extreme caution when driving near raised surfaces, unprotected ledges and drop offs (curbs,
porches, stairs, etc.).
nNever remove your Celebritys anti-tip wheels or modify the Celebrity in any way not authorized by Pride.
nUse extreme caution when operating your Celebrity on busy streets and in parking lots or shopping malls and
never ride your Celebrity where you cannot walk safely and legally. Consult local authorities with regard to
operating your Celebrity on public roadways.
nDo not operate your Celebrity while you are under the influence of alcohol.
nCheck with your physician if you are taking any medications that may affect your ability to operate your
Celebrity safely.
nKeep your hands on the tiller and your feet on the floorboard when you are operating your Celebrity.
nMake certain that the tyres are properly inflated (30 psi).
nNever use your Celebrity as a seat in a moving vehicle.
nMake certain that the Celebritys batteries are properly secured when you transport your Scooter in another
vehicle.
nDisconnect your Celebritys batteries if you will not be using the Scooter for more than 48 hours.
WARNING! Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds.
Wash hands after handling.
WARNING! Do not expose the electronics to any type of moisture at any time (rain, snow, mist, or
washing the Scooter). Such exposure can damage the electronics. Never attempt to ride a Scooter
that has been exposed to moisture until it has dried.
WARNING! Do not operate or store the Scooter where it may be exposed to inclement weather
conditions such as rain, snow, mist, and below-freezing temperatures (such as storage on an
outside car or van lift). Attempting to operate the Scooter in such conditions can damage the
electronics and potentially result in loss of control.
WARNING! Do not operate a Scooter in icy or slippery conditions or on salted surfaces (i.e.,
pavement or roads). Such use may result in an accident, personal injury, or adversely affect the
performance and/or safety of your Scooter.
WARNING! Always protect batteries from freezing temperatures and never charge a frozen battery.

freezing conditions does not prevent a battery from freezing.

As you begin using your Celebrity during daily activities, you will probably encounter situations for which you will
need some practice negotiating on your Scooter. Simply take your time as you operate your Celebrity and you will
soon be in full and confident control as you maneuver through doorways, on and off elevators, up and down ramps,
and over moderate terrain.
DOORS
nDetermine if the door opens toward or away from you.
nUse your hand to turn the knob or push the handle or push-bar.
nDrive your Celebrity gently and slowly forward to push the door open. Or drive your Celebrity gently and
slowly backwards to pull the door open.
ELEVATORS
Modern elevators have a door edge safety mechanism that, when pushed, reopens the elevator door(s).
nIf you are in the doorway of an elevator when the door(s) begin to close, push on the rubber door edge or
allow the rubber door edge to contact the Scooter and the door will reopen.
nUse care that pocketbooks, packages, or Celebrity accessories do not become caught in elevator doors.
RAMPS AND OTHER INCLINES
More and more buildings have ramps with specified degrees of inclination. These ramps are designed for easy and
safe Scooter access. Some ramps may have turning switchbacks that require good cornering skills on your Celeb-
rity.
nTake wide swings with your Celebritys front wheel(s) around any tight corners. If you do that, the Celebritys
rear wheels will follow a wide arc, not cut the corner short, and not bump into or get hung up on any railing
corners.
nWhen driving down a ramp, keep the Celebritys speed adjustment dial set to the tortoise (slowest speed
setting) to ensure a safely controlled descent. See IV. Description.
nAvoid sudden stops and starts.

DRIVING SURFACES
Your Celebrity was designed to provide optimum stability under normal driving conditionsdry, level surfaces
composed of concrete or asphalt. However, Pride recognizes that there will be times when you will operate your
Celebrity on surfaces other than concrete or asphalt. For that reason, we also designed your Celebrity to perform
admirably on packed soil, grass, and gravel. Feel free to use your Celebrity safely on grounds and in park areas.
nAvoid tall grass that can become entangled in the running gear.
nPacked soil, gravel, driveways, or roads will not present a problem for your Celebrity.
nAvoid loosely packed gravel and sand.
nIf you feel unsure about a driving surface, avoid that surface.
DRIVING IN REVERSE
Before driving in reverse always check that your path is free of hazards such as curbs such as pedestrians, etc.
Other inclines may be natural or man-made, and not designed specifically for Scooters. Figures 1 and 2 illustrate
your Celebritys stability and its ability to climb grades under various weight loads and under controlled testing
conditions.
These tests were conducted with the Celebritys seat in the highest position and adjusted backward on the seat
base to its farthest rearward position. Use this information as a guideline. Your Celebritys ability to travel up
inclines is affected by your weight, your Scooters speed, your angle of approach to the incline, and your Scooter
setup.
nWhen you approach an incline, it is best to lean forward. See figures 3 and 4. This shifts the center of gravity
of you and your Celebrity toward the front of the Scooter for improved stability.
WARNING! Do not exceed the incline guidelines or any other specifications presented in this
owners manual.

CONTROL CONSOLE ASSEMBLY
The control console assembly houses all of the controls you need to drive your Celebrity, including the speed adjustment
dial, throttle control levers, battery condition meter, status LED, running lights button, horn buttons, turn signal buttons,
and the hazard light button. See figure 7.
WARNING! Do not expose the control console assembly to moisture. In the event that the console
does become exposed to moisture, do not attempt to operate your Celebrity until the console has
thorou hly dried.

Your Celebrity is a motorized electric Scooter designed to enhance your personal mobility. Your Celebrity is an indoor/
outdoor Scooter designed to travel primarily on smooth surfaces, such as pavement, roads, parking lots, floors, and
driveways. For easy transportation or storage, you can disassemble your Celebrity into seven components. See figure 6.

Key Switch
nFully insert the key into the key switch and turn it clockwise to power up (turn on) your Celebrity.
nTurn the key counterclockwise to power down (turn off) your Celebrity.
Speed Adjustment Dial
This control dial allows you to preselect and limit your scooters top speed.
nThe image of the tortoise represents the slowest speed setting.
nThe image of the hare represents the fastest speed setting.
Th ottle Cont ol Leve
This lever allows you to control the forward speed and the reverse speed of your Celebrity up to the maximum
speed you preset with the speed adjustment dial.
nPlace your right hand on the right handgrip and your left hand on the left handgrip.
nUse your right thumb to push the right side of the lever to disengage your Celebritys brakes and move
forward.
nRelease the lever and allow your Celebrity to come to a complete stop before pushing the other side of the
lever to move in reverse.
nWhen the throttle is completely released, it automatically returns to the center stop position and engages your
Celebritys brakes.
Batte y Condition Mete
This meter gives an approximate reading of your scooters battery voltage when the key is fully inserted into the
key switch.
nGreen indicates the Celebritys batteries are fully charged.
nYellow indicates that the Celebritys battery voltage level is getting low and will require a charge soon.
nRed indicates that your Celebritys battery voltage level is very low, and the batteries should be recharged as
soon as possible.
Running Lights Button
This button controls your Celebritys running lights.
nPress the button once to turn on your Celebritys running lights.
nPress the button again to turn off your Celebritys running lights.
Ho n Button
The key must be inserted and turned to the on position for the horn to be operational.
nThis button activates a warning horn.
nDo not hesitate to use the warning horn when its use could prevent accident or injury.
Haza d Light Button
This button activates the 4-way flashers on your Scooter.
nPress the button once to turn on the flashers.
nPress the button again to turn off the flashers.
WARNING! If the key is moved to the off position while your Celebrity is in motion, the electronic
brakes en a e and your Celebrity comes to an abrupt stop!

Tu n Signal Buttons
nPress the appropriate turn signal button once to activate it.
nYour Celebritys turn signals are timed to shut off automatically.
Status LED
The Status LED will alert you to electrical problems that may occur with the Celebrity. The LED remains constantly lit
while your scooter is on. If the Celebrity develops an electrical problem, the status LED will flash a code. See XI. Basic
Troubleshooting), If the status LED flashes a code other than a code listed in Basic Troubleshooting, contact your
authorised Pride Provider.

Batteries
The batteries store the electrical energy that powers your Celebrity. See V. Batteries and Charging.
Main Circuit Breaker
When the voltage in your Celebritys batteries becomes low or your Celebrity is heavily strained because of
excessive loads or steep inclines, the main circuit breaker may trip to protect your Celebritys motor and electron-
ics from damage.
nThe main circuit breaker reset button pops out when the breaker trips. See figure 8.
nWhen the breaker trips, the entire electrical system of your Celebrity shuts down.
nAllow a minute or two for your Celebritys electronics to rest.
nPush in the reset button to reset the breaker.
nIf the breaker trips frequently, you may need to charge your batteries more often. You may also need to have
your authorized Pride provider perform a load test on your Celebritys batteries.
nIf the main circuit breaker trips repeatedly, see your authorized Pride provider for service.
REAR SECTION
The onboard battery charger (not shown), the charger power lead receptacle, the batteries (not shown), the
electronics module, the main circuit breaker (reset button), the ammeter, the manual freewheel lever, the anti-tip
wheels, and the motor/transaxle assembly (not shown) are located on the rear section of your Celebrity. See figure
8. Refer to VIII. Disassembly and Assembly for instructions on removing the rear shroud, which covers the rear
section.

WARNING! Before placin your Celebrity into or takin it out of freewheel mode, make certain that
the key is removed from the key switch. Even thou h the motor of your Celebrity is disen a ed
from the drive system when your Scooter is put in manual freewheel mode, the motor can still run
if the throttle lever is pushed. Never sit on a Scooter when it is in freewheel mode. Never put a
Scooter in freewheel mode on any incline.

WARNING! Failure to use properly rated fuses may cause dama e to the Celebritys electrical
system, and may result in personal injury.
IV. DESCRIPTION
Manual F eewheel Leve
Whenever you need or want to push your Celebrity for short distances, you can put it in manual freewheel mode.
nThe manual freewheel lever is located on the end of the motor/transaxle assembly at the right rear of the
Celebrity. See figure 8.
nPull up on the manual freewheel lever to disable the drive and brake systems.
nYou may now push your Celebrity.
nPush down on the manual freewheel lever to reengage the drive and brake systems, and take your Celebrity
out of freewheel mode.
Moto /T ansaxle Assembly
The motor/transaxle assembly is an electromechanical unit that converts electrical energy from your Celebritys
batteries into the controlled mechanical energy that drives the Celebritys wheels.
Anti-Tip Wheels
The anti-tip wheels are an integral and important safety feature of your Celebrity. Do not, under any circumstances,
remove the anti-tip wheels from your Celebrity. See figure 8.
Cha ge Powe Lead Receptacle
The charger power lead plugs into your Celebritys battery charger by means of the charger power lead recep-
tacle.
Fuses
The fuses help protect your Celebritys lighting, control console assembly, and charging systems from receiving an
overload of electrical current. The fuses used in the Celebrity are the same type automobiles use. See figure 8.
If a fuse must be replaced, use only the specified amp fuse. See XI. Care and Maintenance.

V. BATTERIES AND CHARGING
Your Celebrity uses two long-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries that are sealed and maintenance free. They are
recharged by an onboard 3-amp charging system designed for ease of use and convenience.
nCharge your Celebritys batteries prior to using it for the first time.
nKeep your batteries fully charged to keep your Celebrity running trouble-free.
Follow these easy steps to charge your batteries safely:
1. Position your Scooter close to a standard wall outlet.
2. Remove the key from the control console assembly.
3. Make certain that the freewheel lever is in the drive (down) position.
4. Plug the charger power lead into the charger power lead receptacle on the Scooter.
5. Extend the charger power lead and plug it into the wall outlet.
NOTE: There is a charger inhibit function on your Scooter. The Scooter will not run and the battery
Condition meter will not operate while the batteries are charging.
It is recommended that you charge your batteries for 8 to 14 hours. You can check this periodically by the battery
condition meter on the control console assembly. However, you must first unplug the battery charger and then
insert the key. The battery condition meter on the control console assembly indicates the approximate strength of
your batteries. See figure 11.
nGreen indicates the Celebritys batteries are fully charged.
nYellow indicates that the Celebritys battery voltage level is getting low and will require a charge soon.
nRed indicates that your Celebritys battery voltage level is very low, and the batteries should be recharged as
soon as possible.
You can also check the charge by the ammeter which is visible on the rear electronics module. The battery charger
must be plugged into a wall outlet to obtain a reading. When the amperage reading is at or near zero (0) amps, the
battery charging is complete. See figure 12.
6. When the batteries are fully charged, unplug the charger power lead from the wall outlet and then from the
charger power lead receptacle.
7. Place the charger power lead in the rear storage compartment for safekeeping.

BATTERIES AND CHARGING - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)
How does the charger work?
When your Celebritys battery voltage is low, the charger works harder sending more electrical current to the
batteries to bring up their charge. As the batteries approach full charge, the charger sends less and less electrical
current. When the batteries are fully charged, the current sent from the charger is at nearly zero amperage. There-
fore, when the charger is plugged in, it maintains the charge on your Celebritys batteries, but does not overcharge
them. We do not recommend that you charge your Celebritys batteries for more than 24 consecutive hours.
What if the Celebritys batteries wont charge?
nEnsure that the battery cables are connected properly.
nEnsure that both ends of the charger lead are inserted fully.

Can I use a different charger?
For the safest, most efficient and balanced charging of your Celebritys batteries, we prefer and highly recommend
the simultaneous charging of both batteries with the onboard battery charger.
How often must I charge the batteries?
Two major factors must be considered when deciding how often to charge your Celebritys batteries:
nAll day Scooter use on a daily basis.
nInfrequent or sporadic Scooter use.
With these considerations in mind, you can determine just how often and for how long you should charge your
Celebritys batteries. We designed the onboard charger so that it will not overcharge your Scooters batteries (do
not charge them for more than 24 consecutive hours). However, you may encounter some problems if you do not
charge your batteries often enough and if you do not charge them on a regular basis. Following the five guidelines
below will provide safe and reliable battery operation and charging.
nIf you use your Celebrity daily, charge its batteries as soon as you finish using it for the day. Your Celebrity will be
ready each morning to give you a full day of service. We recommend that you charge your Celebritys batteries for 8
to 14 hours after daily use.
nIf you use your Celebrity once a week or less, charge its batteries at least once a week for 12 to 14 hours at a time.
nKeep your Celebritys batteries fully charged.
nAvoid deeply discharging your Celebritys batteries.
nDo not charge your Celebritys batteries for more than 24 consecutive hours.

How can I get maximum range or distance per charge?
Rarely will you have ideal driving conditionssmooth, flat, hard driving surfaces with no wind or curves. Often, you
will face hills, pavement cracks, uneven and loosely packed surfaces, curves, and wind. All of these driving conditions
affect the distance or running time per battery charge. Below are a few suggestions for obtaining the maximum range
per battery charge.
nAlways fully charge your elebritys batteries prior to your daily use.
nMaintain 30 psi (pounds per square inch) in all of your elebritys tyres.
nPlan your route to avoid as many hills, cracked, broken, or soft surfaces as possible.
nLimit your baggage weight to essential items.
nTry to maintain an even speed while your elebrity is in motion.
nAvoid stop-and-go driving.
What type and size of battery should I use?
We recommend deep-cycle batteries that are sealed and maintenance free. Both sealed lead-acid and gel cell are
deep-cycle batteries that are similar in performance. Do not use wet-cell batteries, which have removable caps.
CAUTION! Do not remove the caps from sealed batteries. Water cannot be added to sealed batter-
ies. Cap removal voids the battery warranty and may cause dama e to the batteries and to your
Celebrity.
Use these specifications to reorder deep-cycle batteries:
Type: Deep-cycle (sealed lead-acid or gel cell)
Size: U-1 (32 AH only), 40 AH
Voltage: 12-volts each
Amperage: 32 AH or 40 AH (amp hours)
To replace a battery in your elebrity:
1. Remove the seat and the rear shroud. See VIII. Disassembly and Assembly.
2. Disconnect the battery tie-down straps (if equipped).
3. Disconnect the battery cables from the rear electronics module.
4. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery terminals.
5. Remove the old battery.
6. Place a new battery in the battery well.
7. onnect the red battery cable to the positive (+) battery terminal.
8. onnect the black battery cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
9. Reconnect the battery cables to the rear electronics module.
10. Reconnect the battery tie-down straps (if equipped).
11. Refit the rear shroud and the seat.
Why do my new batteries seem weak?
Deep-cycle batteries employ a different chemical technology than that used in car batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries
(nicads), or in other common battery types. Deep-cycle batteries are specifically designed to provide power, drain
down their charge, and then accept a relatively quick recharge.

Celebrity
We work closely with our battery manufacturer to provide batteries that best suit your elebritys specific electrical
demands. Fresh batteries arrive daily at Pride and are shipped fully charged to our customers. During shipping, the
batteries may encounter temperature extremes that can influence their initial performance. Heat diminishes the
charge on the battery; cold slows the available power and extends the time needed to recharge the battery.
It may take a few days for the temperature of your elebritys batteries to stabilize and adjust to their new room or
ambient temperature.
More importantly, it takes a few charging cycles ( partial draining followed by a full recharging) to establish the critical
chemical balance that is essential to a deep-cycle batterys peak performance and long life.
Please follow these steps to properly break-in your elebritys new batteries for maximum efficiency and service life.
1. Fully recharge any new battery prior to its initial use. This charging cycle brings the battery up to about 88% of
its peak performance level.
2. Fully recharge the batteries. They should be at over 0% of their peak performance level.
3. Operate your Celebrity again.
4. Fully recharge the batteries again.
5. After four or five charging cycles, the batteries are able to receive a charge of 100% of their peak performance
level and are able to last for an extended period of time.
How can I ensure maximum battery life?
Fully charged deep-cycle batteries provide reliable performance and extended battery life. Keep your elebritys
batteries fully charged whenever possible. Batteries that are regularly and deeply discharged, infrequently charged,
or stored without a full charge may be permanently damaged, causing unreliable performance and limited service life.
How should I store my Celebrity and its batteries?
If you plan on not using your elebrity for an extended period of time, it is best to:
nFully charge its batteries prior to storage.
nDisconnect the battery harnesses from the rear electronics module.
nStore your elebrity in a warm dry environment.
nAvoid storing your elebrity where it will be exposed to temperature extremes.
V. BATTERIES AND CHARGING
WARNING! If your Celebritys batteries do become frozen, do not attempt to char e them. Cold or
frozen batteries should be allowed to warm up for several days prior to rechar in .
For prolonged storage, you may wish to place several boards under the frame of your elebrity to raise the Scooter
off of the ground. This takes the weight off the tyres and reduces the possibility of flat spots developing on the areas
of the tyres contacting the ground.
What about public transportation?
If you intend to use public transportation with your Scooter, you must contact in advance the transportation provider
in advance to determine their specific requirements.

VI. OPERATION
BEFORE GETTING ON YOUR CELEBRITY

nIs the manual freewheel lever in the drive (down) position? Never leave the manual freewheel lever pulled up
unless you are manually pushing your Celebrity.
GETTING ON YOUR CELEBRITY
1. Make certain that the key is removed from the key switch.
2. Stand at the side of your Celebrity.
3. Push down on the seat lock lever and rotate the seat until it is facing you.
4. Make certain that the seat is locked securely in position.
5. Position yourself comfortably and securely in the seat.
6. Fasten the lap belt, if your Celebrity is so equipped.
7. Push down on the seat lock lever and rotate the seat until you are facing forward.
8. Make certain that the seat is locked securely in position.

OPERATING YOUR CELEBRITY
After planning your route:
nAdjust the speed adjustment dial on the control console assembly to preset your desired maximum speed.
nPress your thumb against the appropriate throttle lever.
nThe electric brake automatically disengages and the Celebrity accelerates smoothly to the speed you preselected
with the speed adjustment dial.
NOTE: The rear wheel drive transaxle gives your Celebrity maximum traction with minimal steering
effort on your part.
