1Introduction
This document specifies the usage of L26-LB EVB (Evaluation Board) which is an assistant tool for
engineers to develop and test Quectel L26-LB module.
1.1. Safety Information
The following safety precautions must be observed during all phases of operation, such as usage, service
or repair of any terminal incorporating Quectel L26-LB module. Manufacturers of the terminal should send
the following safety information to users and operating personnel, and incorporate these guidelines into
all manuals supplied with the product. If not so, Quectel assumes no liability for customers’ failure to
comply with these precautions.
Ensure the use of the product conforms to the local safety and environment
regulations, and is allowed in the country and the environment required.
Keep away from explosive and flammable materials. The use of electronic
products in extreme power supply conditions and locations with potentially
explosive atmospheres may cause fire and explosion accidents.
The product must be powered by a stable voltage source, and the wiring shall
conform to security precautions and fire prevention regulations.
Proper ESD handling procedures must be followed throughout the mounting,
handling and operation of any application that incorporates the module to avoid
ESD damages.

3EVB Interfaces
3.1. Micro USB Interface
The main power is supplied via the micro USB interface.
Both micro USB and UART interfaces can be used for data communication, and the two interfaces can be
switched by the alternation switch S301. If UART interface is used for data communication (NMEA
sentences output), then both RS232 and micro USB cables are necessary for operating the EVB. So it is
strongly recommended to use the micro USB interface for both power supply and NEMAsentences output,
during which only a USB cable is needed.

If PowerGPS tool needs to be used, then it is recommended to use the UART interface for data
communication.

3.3. Antenna Interface
L26-LB module receives satellite signals via antenna interface. Both active antenna and passive antenna
are supported.

4EVB Operation Procedures
This chapter mainly illustrates the operation procedures of L26-LB EVB.
4.1. Communication through Micro USB Interface
Step 1: Connect the EVB to a PC with a micro USB cable through the micro USB interface, and then turn
on the POWER switch (S201) to power on the EVB.
Step 2: Run the USB flash drive on PC to install the USB driver. The USB port numbers can be viewed
through the PC Device Manager, as shown below.

Step 3: Install and then use the QCOM tool provided by Quectel to realize the communication between
the module and the PC.
The following figure shows the COM Port Setting interface of QCOM: select the correct “COM
Port” (USB port number shown in the above figure) and set the correct “Baudrate” (the default
value: 9600 bps). For more details of the usage of QCOM, please refer to document [4].

4.2. Firmware Upgrade
Quectel L26-LB module upgrades the firmware via micro USB interface by default. Please follow the
procedures below to upgrade firmware.
Step 1: Install and open the firmware upgrade tool FlashTool on PC.
Step 2: Connect the EVB to the PC with a micro USB cable through the micro USB interface, and then
turn on the POWER switch (S201) to power on the EVB.
Step 3: Follow the steps below to start firmware upgrade.
a) Click the “Settings” “Baud rate” dropdown list and select the “115200”.
b) Click the “Settings” “COM Port” dropdown list and select the COM port.
c) Select the files to be downloaded: click the two red boxes as shown in step cbelow to select the
corresponding file path: "Reserve" corresponds to the download management file, and "ROM"
corresponds to the firmware to be downloaded.
d) Click the “Download”, “OK”and “Go” buttons to start firmware upgrade.

5Usage of PowerGPS
PowerGPS tool is used to check the status of GNSS receivers. This chapter illustrates the usage of the
tool.
5.1. COM and Baud Rate Setting
Step 1: After EVB accessories are assembled, turn on the EVB and start PowerGPS (PowerGPS Trial
2.3.6 as an example herein).After the tool is started, the following interface will be displayed.

Step 2: At the bottom of the interface, select a correct COM port and baud rate (L26-LB module supports
9600 bps by default), click the button “Create Connection”, and then the following interface in
default layout will be shown:

5.1.1. Interface Explanations
On the PowerGPS interface, GNSS information such as CNR message, time, position, speed and
precision can be viewed. Explanations are listed in the table below.
