education plan for the individuals handling the product. The information contained in the Instructions has

Introduction
This manual covers the installation and the customisation of the Microsoft MoR Generation 6 rack range.
•Permissible use: Compile IT equipment such as Servers, Storages, Networking, and Power
supply to installation blocks in data centres. The Microsoft MoR Generation 6 rack range is
not a ship loadable product, i.e. racks must not be transported with integrated systems
installed.
•Restrictions and limitations of permissible use: Not to be used as an electrical cabinet that
provides essential protection against access to live parts and serves as earthed enclosure in
Class 1 equipment. Use within functional specification that defines static and dynamic and
ship loadable, environmental conditions, installation manual / guide, etc. Do not stand on rack.
•Foreseeable misuse: Misconfiguration - loading against functional specification, neglecting
limits for ship loadable transport, neglecting the installation and transportation guidelines
given by Rittal. Standing or climbing on rack.
•User Groups:
oSkilled Person acc. IEC62368 (knows the specification, technical limits, safety hints):
▪Entire configuration and installation of the rack. After installation services.
▪In charge of work preparation procedures including but not restricted to:
•Configuration
•Integration of equipment
•Shipping
•Transportation into the data centre
•Installation and further integration into the data centre
▪In charge of work preparation procedures for service, retrofit and dismantling
oInstructed Persons acc. IEC62368 (instructed by skilled person, following work
preparation procedures):

service or maintain it. The following messages may appear throughout this manual or the equipment to
warn of potential hazards.
Safety Symbols
This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential injury hazards. Obey all safety
messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible injury or death.
The addition of this symbol to a Danger or Warning safety label indicates that an electrical hazard exists
which will result in personal injury if the instructions are not followed.
The addition of this symbol to a Danger or Warning safety label indicates that a tip hazard exists which

Warning –Do not stand on or climb on top of the racks. The racks are not designed for this purpose.
Rittal Factory Torque Setting - Rack to Pallet Interfaces
•Bolt down to pallet (M8, HEX HD): 7Nm (7844440)
•Bolt down to pallet (M10, HEX HD): 17Nm (7844477)
To be checked if bolt down has been interfered with.

Product Safety Statements
The given product safety statements apply to all action undertaken with the product over the entire life cycle
of the product, from product receiving to disposal.
Statement 1
In regards to receiving, moving the rack when attached to pallet and forward shipping after integration, the
following warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT HAZARDS
RISK OF PRODUCT DAMAGE
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Instructed or Skilled logistics persons to handle rack only.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
•Palletised rack must not exceed maximum tip of angle of 15 degrees.
•Rack must be forklifted from the rear of the rack only (as per packing sleeves indicates).
•Racks can be moved with manual pallet truck from front and rear only (as per packing sleeves
indicates).
•All other forms of transportation are forbidden.
•Rittal products must be shipped in accordance with Rittal Handling guidelines for shipping and
storage.

•Do not remove rack pallet braces or front and rear bolt down brackets.
•Ensure all packaging is replaced as delivered.
•Ensure pallet wood spacers (x4) are removed before rack configuration.
•Please check pallet brace and bolt down bracket bolt torques before forward shipping.
•Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.
Statement 2
In regards to unpacking or repacking the rack, the following cautions must be considered:

•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
•PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local regulations to be worn.
•Only use safety knife (example shown) when opening packaging.

Statement 3
In regards to unbolting the rack from the shipping pallet, the following warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
oOnly Microsoft approved SOP logistics systems to be used to move the rack.
▪This includes but not restricted to unbolting, removing from pallet, moving and
handling and final deployment.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
•Unbolting of rack to take place on level surface only.
•Rack can roll off pallet easily once unbolted, remove immediately after unbolting.
•No external forces should be applied to rack during unbolting.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.
Statement 4
In regards to removing the rack from the shipping pallet the following warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
oOnly Microsoft approved SOP logistics systems to be used to move rack.
▪This includes but not restricted to unbolting, removing from pallet, moving and
handling and final deployment.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.
Statement 5
In regards to moving the rack on castor wheels, the following warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
oOnly Microsoft approved SOP logistics systems to be used to move rack.
▪This includes but not restricted to unbolting, removing from pallet, moving and
handling and final deployment.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
•Inspect planned route to eliminate potential hazards and verify routes and door openings can
accommodate the rack (see specification page).
•Ensure all levelling feet are raised to their highest position and no stabiliser bracket fitted.
•Do not use a ramp inclined at more than 5 degrees

•No lateral movement of the rack against rotation of castors, i.e. dragging fixed castors.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.
Statement 6
In regards to levelling the rack on feet the following warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
•Levelling feet cannot compensate for a badly sloped floor surface.
•Levelling feet must be deployed equally (5mm increments maximum per levelling foot)
•Levelling feet must be fully extended to the floor
•The full weight of the rack rests on the levelling feet.
•Rack must be bolted down using kit 7844246 only if a single-rack installation.
•If joining to adjacent racks, ensure adjacent rack is at the same level.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.
Statement 7
In regards to bolting down the rack to the data centre floor, the following warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
•Rack must be bolted down using kit 7844246 only.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.
Statement 8
In regards to baying / joining a rack to another rack, the following warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Joining racks provides limited stability to the racks.
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.

Statement 9
In regards to installation or any work with rack, the following caution must be considered:
Caution

•This rack is easily tipped, ensure rack is secured.
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in injury or equipment damage.
Statement 10
In regards to integration of rack before forward shipping or integration at data centre, the follow warnings
must be upheld:
WARNING
TIP / HEAVY EQUIPMENT
•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Instructed or Skilled persons to handle rack only.
•Rack must be attached to pallet and located on a level even floor if forward shipping.
•Do not remove side rack to pallet braces or front and rear bolt down brackets if forward shipping.
•Rack must be secured before installing or removing equipment, via bolt down or bayed to adjacent
racks.
•Install heaviest equipment first and towards the bottom of the rack to prevent the rack from
becoming top-heavy.
•Only one component is extended at a time. A rack may become unstable if more than one
component is extended for any reason.
•Please check pallet brace and bolt down bracket bolt torques before forward shipping.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury or equipment
damage.
Statement 11
In regards to electrical hazards of rack, the follow warnings must be upheld:
WARNING
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
•Connection of the rack to building Common Bonding Network (CBN) is required.

Rack Instructions
Receiving the Rack
WARNING

•This rack is easily tipped. Use extreme caution when handling.
•Instructed or Skilled logistics persons to handle rack only.
•People handling the rack must wear PPE in accordance with local risk assessments and local
regulations.
•Palletised rack must not exceed maximum tip of angle of 15 degrees.
•All other forms of transportation are forbidden.
•Rittal products must be shipped in accordance with Rittal Handling guidelines for shipping and
storage.

The weight of the rack you are receiving could vary, depending if the rack has been pre-installed at the
integrator before receiving. Please consult the Microsoft logistics department and refer Rack Specification
section at the beginning of the manual.

Unpacking the Racks
Disclaimer
Rittal is not responsible for damage sustained through poor handling and misuse. Mechanical and
functional concerns should be reported immediately to Rittal.
Receiving Inspection
Inspect the package and contents for shipping damage, and make sure that all parts have been sent.
Report any damage immediately to the shipping agent.
Please Recycle
Some of the shipping materials are recyclable. Save them for later use or dispose of them appropriately.

•Only Microsoft approved SOP and risk assessed logistics systems to be used to remove rack
from pallet.

Unpacking Racks
Unpacking 7844.440
1. Remove plastic wrapping from packaged rack (please note label is attached to wrap).
2. Removed corner posts (x8)
3. Remove polybag.
Bolt-down Uninstallation

•Rack can roll off pallet easily once unbolted, remove immediately after unbolting.

1. To gain access to front bolt down brackets, open front RH and LH doors, via key. Press push button
to open doors, please note this releases the handle.
