INTENDED USE
Your Ryobi 2 in 1 moisture meter has been
designed for for domestic use only. it may be used
for measuring moisture content in building
materials, such as drywall, masonry, hardwood and
softwood. t can also be used for checking if
firewood is adequately dry for using.

To reduce the risk of injury, the user must
read and understand the operator’s

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The electrode measurement pins are extremely
sharp. Use care when handling this instrument.
Cover the pins with the protective caps when the
instrument is not in use.
This device is not a toy and must not reach
children’s hands. t contains hazardous objects as
well as small parts that the children could swallow.
n case a child swallows any of them, please
contact a physician immediately.
Do not leave batteries and packing material lying
around unattended; they can be dangerous for
children if they use them as toys.
n case the device is going to be unused for an
extended period of time, remove the batteries to
prevent them from draining
Expired or damaged batteries can cause
cauterization on contact with the skin. Always,
therefore, use suitable hand gloves in such cases
See that the battery is not short-circuited. Do not
throw batteries into a fire.
Do not use on scaffolding or ladders without proper
safety precautions.
Do not use near machines that are operating or
near parts of machine installations that are
unprotected.

UNPACKING
CAUTION. This packaging contains
sharp objects. Take care when
unpacking. Remove the machine,
together with the accessories supplied, from the
packaging. Check carefully to ensure that the
machine is in good condition and account for all the
accessories listed in this manual. Also make sure
that all the accessories are complete.
f any parts are found to be missing, the machine
and its accessories should be returned together in
their original packaging to the retailer. Do not throw
the packaging away, keep it safe throughout the
guarantee period, then recycle if possible,
otherwise dispose of it by the proper means. Do
not let children play with empty plastic bags due to
the risk of suffocation.
ASSEMBLY
INSTALLING BATTERIES
This product requires 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries.
To install the batteries remove the battery cover on
the rear of the moisture meter and fit according to
the symbols inside the battery compartment. See
Fig.1.
WARNING. Do not attempt to modify this
product. Any such alteration or
modification is misuse and could result
in a hazardous condition leading to
possible serious personal injury.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
f the instrument does not switch on or the battery
symbol has no bars, replace the batteries as
previously stated above.
BATTERY DISPOSAL
You, as the end user, are legally bound
to return all used batteries, disposal in
the household garbage is prohibited!
You can hand over your used
batteries / accumulators at collection
points in your community or wherever
batteries / accumulators are sold.
Follow the valid legal stipulations in
respect of the disposal of the device at the end of
its lifecycle.
BATTERY SAFETY REMINDERS
Please dispose of batteries responsibly; always
observe local, state, and federal regulations with
regard to battery disposal.
Never dispose of batteries in a fire. Batteries may
explode or leak.
Never mix battery types. Always install new
batteries of the same type.

OPERATION
CAUTION. The electrode measurement
probes are extremely sharp. Use care
when handling this instrument. Cover the
probes with their protective covers and
close the probe lid when the instrument
is not in use.
TURNING THE UNIT ON AND OFF
Press the On/Off button to turn on the unit, Fig.2.
Long press the On/Off button to turn the unit off.
SCANNING MODE
Always keep the probe lid closed during scanning
mode. The scanning mode works via a sensor
located on the rear of the moisture meter just
above the battery compartment.
Press the On/Off button to turn on the unit. The unit
will automatically enter scanning mode as shown
by the flashing scanning icon. The default setting
for scanning mode is always DRYWALL, Fig.3.
There are 4 different scanning modes that can be
chosen:
• DRYWALL • MASONRY • SOFTWOOD
• HARDWOOD
Select the corresponding scanning measurement
mode according to the properties of the object to
be tested, (For example, chooses MASONRY
mode for a concrete wall), by pressing the Scroll
Up and Scroll Down buttons, Fig.4 & 5.
Place the sensor on bottom of the instrument
against surface of the object to be measured. The
moisture content of the object will be displayed on
the instrument. f you wish to lock the
measurement value on the screen press the HOLD
button, Fig.6. The humidity value locked symbol will
show on screen. f you wish to remove the locked
value press the HOLD button again.

OPERATION
PROBE MEASURING MODE
CAUTION. The electrode measurement
probes are extremely sharp. Use care
when handling this instrument. Cover the
probes with their protective covers and
close the probe lid when the instrument
is not in use.
Open the probe lid and remove the probe
protective covers to expose the electrode probes.
Press the On/Off button to turn on the unit.
Use the Scroll Up and Scroll Down buttons to scroll
to the probe measuring mode screen, Fig.7.
WOOD PROBE MEASURING MODE
nsert the probes into the wood. The moisture value
of the wood will be displayed on the screen. f you
wish to lock the measurement value on the screen
press the HOLD button, Fig.8. The value locked
symbol will show on screen. f you wish to remove
the locked value press the HOLD button again.
BUILDING MATERIALS PROBE MEASURING
MODE
The measuring building materials operation is the
same as measuring wood.
Use the Scroll Up and Scroll Down buttons to scroll
to the BLDG probe measuring mode screen, Fig.9.
nsert the probes into the building material. The
moisture value of the building material will be
displayed on the screen. f you wish to lock the
measurement value on the screen press the HOLD
button. The value locked symbol will show on
screen. f you wish to remove the locked value
press the HOLD button again.
MEASURING AMBIENT TEMPERATURE
Use the Scroll Up and Scroll Down buttons to scroll
to the ambient temperature measuring screen,
Fig.10.
The unit automatically detects the temperature of
the current environment and shows the value in
celcius and fahrenheit.
Some factors, such as the type and temperature of
the material, can affect the moisture measurement
results. The measuring value of this instrument is
only for reference data, don't use it as a basis for
professional metrology.

MAINTENANCE
WARNING. Do not operate the meter
until the battery compartment cover is in
place and fastened
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
This instrument is designed to provide years of
dependable service, if the following care
instructions are performed:
Keep the moisture meter dry and free from dust.
Use and store the moisture meter in nominal
temperature conditions. Temperature extremes can
shorten the life of the electronic parts and distort or
melt plastic parts.
Handle the moisture meter carefully and avoid
shock and vibration. Dropping the meter may
damage the electronic parts or the case.
Keep the moisture meter clean. Wipe the case
occasionally with a damp cloth. DO NOT use
chemicals, cleaning solvents, or detergents.
Use only fresh batteries of the correct type.
Remove old or weak batteries so they do not leak
and damage the unit.
f the moisture meter is to be stored for long
periods, the batteries should be stored separately
to prevent damage to the unit.
RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of
them as waste. All tools, hoses and packaging
should be sorted, taken to the local recycling centre
and disposed of in an environmentally safe way.
Recycle rather than dispose of unwanted material
in landfill whenever possible. The machine must be
delivered in rigid packaging to avoid damage
during transportation. The packaging and the
machine itself are manufactured from recyclable
materials and should be disposed of accordingly.
Only dispose of electrical/electronic/battery terms
in separate collection schemes, which cater for the
recovery and recycling of materials contained
within. Your cooperation is vital to ensure the
success of these schemes and for the protection of
the environment.
Recycle packaging where facilities exist.
This symbol is known as the Crossed
out Wheelie Bin Symbol. When this
symbol is marked on a product or
battery, it means that it should not be
disposed of with your general
household waste. Some chemicals
contained within electrical/electronic products or
batteries can be harmful to health.
SERVICE
Now that you have purchased your tool, should a need ever exist of repair or service, simply contact your
nearest Ryobi Authorised Service Centre or other qualified service organistion. Be sure to provide all
pertinent facts when you call or visit.
