Thank you for purchasing the SK-1110 Digital Thermometer.
-This product is designed to measure temperature. Do not use it for other purposes.
-Read this manual thoroughly before using the digital thermometer and keep the manual
in a safe place for future reference whenever necessary.
Warning
The SK-1110 is not explosion-proof. Never use it in an atmosphere containing flammable
gases. Beware of explosion!
There is a risk of explosion. Take extreme care.
Warnings on Usage
For your safety and proper use of the SK-1110, be sure to observe the following:
- Do not use the SK-1110 as a clinical thermometer.
- Never disassemble or alter the SK-1110, which may cause malfunctions.
- The SK-1110 is precision instrument. Do not drop, vibrate or apply shock to it.
- Make sure the SK-1110 operates under an ambient temperature between 0 to 50°C and a
relative humidity below 80%.
- Avoid using the SK-1110 in a place exposed to direct sunlight or near heating equipment.
Doing so may result in measurement errors or deformation/discoloring of the casing.
- Do not use the SK-1110 in an environment where electrical noise is generated. Doing so
may result in unstable display or lower accuracy.
- Never use the SK-1110 out of its measurement range.
- The unit is not waterproof. Never let it wet or use underwater.
- When used outdoors, keep the SK-1110 out of rain or water splashes.
- If the unit is not to be used for a long time, make sure to remove the batteries. Leakage of
battery fluid could cause failure.
- Do not dispose of the used batteries in a fire.
- Keep the batteries out of the reach of children. If a battery is swallowed accidentally, consult
a medical attention immediately.
- Dispose of used batteries according to your local waste disposal regulations for
environmental conservation.
- Do not wash or wipe the SK-1110 with alcohol, thinner or any other solvents. If the unit
needs to be cleaned, wipe it with a tightly-wrung towel or the like that has been dipped in
warm water with a neutral detergent.
- Do not alter, pull forcibly, bend or bind the sensor probe, as doing so may break the probe.
Also, do not place heavy objects on the cord or heat it, as doing so damage the cord.
- Be careful of the sharp tip of the sensor and take care not to drop the sensor.

Overview
The SK-1110 is a digital thermometer which measures temperature with a K type
thermocouple sensor probe connected. The measurement range of SK-K010 standard probe
is -50 to 300°C.
Indicated value is conforming to ITS-90 (the International Temperature Scale Standard).
Features
Large LCD for easy reading
The temperature is indicated on a large liquid crystal display (LCD). The seven-segment
characters on the large LCD are as tall as 18 mm for easy reading.
Indication holding function
Pressing the HOLD key holds the indication on the LCD.
OFFSET (REL) function
The difference between the two temperatures measured can be displayed after pressing
OFFSET key.
Maximum or minimum value display function
The highest or lowest temperature measured after pressing the MX/MN key can be
displayed.
Average temperature display function
The average value of the temperatures measured after pressing the AVG key can be
displayed.
Memory function
Up to 150 data can be stored in memory.
Flip-up stand
A flip-up stand on the back of the main unit permits
hands-free operation.
SK-K010 Standard probe
A curled cord is employed for easy handling. The stainless steel protection tube and the
grip comply with the Japanese splash-proof standard, JIS C0920 Protection Class 5 that
is equivalent to IPX5.
The measuring range of SK-K010 is -50 to 300ºC. Use the probe within the range.

Note: When these functions are not activated, comma is displayed.
⑨Label "P" (Auto Power-off): Lights when the Auto Power-Off function is operated.
⑩Memory data number: Display the data number stored in memory (up to 150 data)
⑪ Label "MX": Lights up when the highest temperature (maximum value) is displayed.

Installing and replacing the batteries
(1) Turn the setscrew on the battery cover in
counterclockwise with a flat-head
screwdriver or a coin to remove it. Flip up
the stand and remove the battery cover.
(2) In case of replacement, remove all six old batteries.
(3) Insert six new "AAA" batteries in the battery cabin properly as illustrated in the bottom of
the cabin (check the polarity of each battery matches the illustration).
(4) Install the cover and fix it with the setscrew in the reverse order of removal.
Note: When "BAT" is lit on the LCD, immediately replace all the batteries with new ones of
the same type. If not, the measurement accuracy may be affected or malfunctions
may occur.

Fitting the vinyl cover over the unit
The SK-1110 comes with a vinyl cover that fits on the unit. With the cover in place, the
thermometer can be used even when your hands are wet. The cover also keeps the unit
clean and dry.
Cautions
SK-1110 is not waterproof. Do not place it in water or use it where it may be splashed
with water. Otherwise, it will fail.
If water enters the vinyl cover, immediately turn off the unit. Make sure that no water
enters the cover while the unit is being used.
The measurement readings may become unstable if static electricity builds up inside the
vinyl cover while in use. If this happens, remove the vinyl cover and use the unit without it.
(1) Insert the unit fully into the cover, aligning
the display of the unit and (A) of the figure on
the right.
(2) Bend the (B) and (C) flaps to the unit side.
(3) Fold back the (A) part so that the cover
wraps around the upper and rear of the unit.
Releasing the Automatic Power-off
The SK-1110 is automatically turned off if no key is pressed for
30 minutes. Before conducting continuous measurement, release
the Auto Power-off function.
The mark P remains lit while the Auto Power-off function is activated.
How to release
Make sure the power is off. Press the PWR key once while
pressing down the HOLD key and release the HOLD key when
the OFF display appears.
The mark P goes out when the Auto Power-off function is released.
Caution
The Auto Power-off function release is disabled once the unit is turned off.
The Auto Power-off function should be released each time as necessary.

Measurements
(1) Connect the sensor probe with a type "K" thermocouple connector to the main unit.
Align the positive (+) and negative (-) sides of the plug of the sensor probe with those of
the connector receptacle on the main unit. The sensor probe SK-K010 provided as a
standard accessory is designed to measure a temperature within the range of -50°C to
300°C. Make sure to use the probes within this range of measurement temperature.
Fullyinserttheplug
NB. Be sure to use a type "K" thermocouple sensor and its proper connector. Do not use
other types of thermocouple sensor proves to ensure accurate temperature measurements.
(2) Press the PWR key to turn on the main unit.
Upon initial power-on of the SK-1110, the LCD displays all the elements for about one
second before the measurement mode starts.
NB: When the sensor is not connected to the main unit, the LCD displays an "-------"
(3) You can avoid the influence of ambient temperature around the protection tube by
inserting the sensor probe into the target (regardless of whether gas, liquid or solid) to
approximately “15 times the diameter of the protection tube” from the end of the sensor
protection tube (approximately 35 mm for the SK-K010).
(4) Press the PWR key to turn off the main unit.
CAUTIONS
Take care not to get burned when measuring high temperatures.
The measurement accuracy may be affected when the ambient temperature is abruptly
changed. Allow the SK-1110 to acclimatize to the ambient temperature before starting
the measurements. When precision measurements are required and if the SK-1110 is
brought into an atmosphere with a temperature difference of 10°C or more, leave them in
the new atmosphere for at least 30 minutes before starting the measurements.
Indication hold function
Press the HOLD key to hold the indication. This is useful for easy reading when the indication
changes rapidly during measurements. Pressing the HOLD key again will release the
indication hold function.

MX/MN key
Press MX/MN key two times
Offset (REL) display function
(1) The offset value relative to the temperature measured
when the OFFSET key was pressed is displayed (REL
function). Pressing the OFFSET key again will release the
OFFSET (REL) function.
While the OFFSET function is activated, the temperature difference is displayed in the upper
display and the reference temperature is displayed in the lower display.
(2) If the MX/MN or AVG key is pressed while the OFFSET function is activated, the
maximum/minimum or average value is displayed on the lower display. Pressing the
OFFSET key again will release the OFFSET (REL) function. To release this, release the
MX/MN or AVG function first and then the OFFSET function.
Note: The OFFSET function is disabled when the maximum/minimum, average or memory
data is displayed.
Maximum or minimum value display function
The SK-1110 can display the highest temperature (maximum
value) or the lowest temperature (minimum value) measured
after the MX/MN key is pressed. During this time, the label "MX"
or "MN" is lit accordingly.
While the MAX/MIN function is active, the current temperature is displayed in the upper
display and the highest temperature or the lowest temperature is in the lower display.
To return to the normal measurement mode, keep pressing the MX/MN key for at least two
seconds.
NB. While the
MAX/MIN function is activated, the automatic power-off function is disabled.
The relationships between the maximum and minimum value display functions and the
MX/MN key operations are shown below:

- If the MX/MN key is pressed while the AVG function is turned on, the unit moves to the
MAX/MlN function mode.

Average display function
The SK-1110 displays the average temperature among the
temperatures measured since the AVG key was pressed.
These values are obtained by summation averaging (up to
about 4 hours).
While the AVG function is activated, the current temperature measured is displayed in the
upper display and the average temperature is displayed in the lower display. Pressing the
AVG key for two seconds or more will release the AVG function.
- While the AVG function is activated, the Auto Power-off function is disabled.
- If the MX/MN key is pressed while the AVG function is turned on, the unit moves to the
MAX/MlN function mode.
Memory function
By pressing the MEM key, the unit can store in the memory the current temperature
measured or other readings of other functions (MAX/MIN, AVG, OFFSET) currently being
displayed.
Up to 150 readings can be stored in the memory.
- The unit cannot store the readings when they are held by the HOLD function.
1. Storing data in memory
If the MEM key is pressed while measuring, the MEM mark
lights in the display to indicate that the measurement is being
stored in the memory. Also, the memory data number is
displayed when storing is complete.
- No memory data is displayed if there is no data in the memory.
- If there is already data in the memory, the newly stored data is assigned a consecutive
number from the number last stored in the memory.
- If there are 150 readings already stored in the memory, the FULL mark is displayed instead
of the memory data number to indicate that no data can be stored.
2. Displaying the data stored in memory
While measuring, pressing the READ key displays the READ mark and the data stored.
To view the other data, change the memory number by using the ▲/▼key
Pressing the READ key again returns to the measurement mode.
