The Savant Host Controller (HST-4001-10/HST-4002-10/HST-4001S-10/HST-4002S-10) Quick
Reference Guide provides information necessary to install the HST-4001/HST-4002/
HST-4001S/HST-4002S. The HST-4001 consists of SVR-4100, rack shelf and mounting
brackets. The HST-4002 consists of two SVR-4100s, rack shelf and mounting brackets. The
HST-4001S/HST-4002S consists of the SVR-4100S version (Solid State) and is used just like
the HST-4001 or HST-4002. Both host controllers have Apple®Mac mini®Installation Kits with
the following contents:

Front Panel LEDs
The front panel of the HST-4001/HST-4001S has an LED labeled HOST 1, which shows the
computer power for Host 1. The computer is an Apple® Mac mini®.
The front panel of the HST-4002/HST-4002S has two LEDs labeled HOST 1 and HOST 2, which
show the computer power for both Host 1 and Host 2. The computer is an Apple® Mac mini®.
SURGE PROTECTION: Use a surge-protected circuit for all components requiring
120V AC, 50/60 Hz source power.
ELECTRICAL DISCONNECT: The 120V AC, 50/60 Hz source power outlet and
input power sockets should be easily accessible in the event of an electrical hazard or
malfunction condition.
Optional Accessories
The view (below) shows the HST-4001/HST-4001S/HST-4002/HST-4002S is mounted with an
RCV-3000 (top cover). The open shelf design allows for proper ventilation and easy wiring.

the descriptions provided in the table below.

The callouts in the SVR-4100/SVR-4100S (shown left) in the HST-4002/HST-4002S relate to the
descriptions provided in the next table. The callouts are also applicable to the SVR-4100/
SVR-4100S shown to the right in the HST-4002/HST-4002S below.
The next table describes the functionality on the rear of a Host Controller.

CAUTION: Do not block the intake and exhaust vents on the bottom and back of
the HST Host Controllers. This will affect performance and could result in damage to the
equipment.
Power Management Recommendations
Savant recommends a pure sine wave uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with the ability to shut
down the HST Host Controllers before the battery runs out of power. Never remove power from
the HST Host Controllers before shutting it down.
