and properly maintained, give you years of trouble free performance.
1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTIONS. USE THIS PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY

1.1. ELECTRICAL SAFETY. p

WARNING! It is the users responsibility to read, understand and comply with the following:
You must check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure they are safe before using. You must inspect power supply leads, plugs and all electrical
connections for wear and damage. You must ensure the risk of electric shock is minimised by the installation of appropriate safety devices. An RCCB (Residual
Current Circuit Breaker) should be incorporated in the main distribution board. We also recommend that an RCD
(Residual Current Device) is used with all electrical products. It is particularly important to use an RCD with portable products that are plugged into an electrical
supply not protected by an RCCB. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician. You may obtain a Residual Current Device by contacting your Sealey dealer. You
must also read and understand the following instructions concerning electrical safety.
1.1.1. The Electricity At Work Act 1989 requires all portable electrical appliances, if used on business premises, to be tested by
a qualified electrician, using a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT), at least once a year.
1.1.2. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners of electrical appliances responsible for the safe condition of the appliance and the safety of
the appliance operator. If in any doubt about electrical safety, contact a qualified electrician.
1.1.3. Ensure the insulation on all cables and the product itself is safe before connecting to the mains power
supply. See 1.1.1. & 1.1.2. above and use a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT).
1.1.4. Ensure that cables are always protected against short circuit and overload.
1.1.5. Regularly inspect power supply, leads and plugs for wear and damage and all power connections
to ensure that none is loose.
1.1.6. Important: Ensure the voltage marked on the product is the same as the electrical power supply
to be used and check that plugs are fitted with the correct capacity fuse. A 13 amp plug may require
a fuse smaller than 13 amps for certain products, see fuse rating at right.
1.1.7. DO NOT pull or carry the powered appliance by its power supply lead.
1.1.8. DO NOT pull power plugs from sockets by the power cable.
1.1.9. DO NOT use worn or damage leads, plugs or connections. Immediately replace or have repaired by
a qualified electrician. AU.K. 3 pin plug with ASTA/BS approval is fitted. In case of damage, cut off
and fit a new plug according to the following instructions (discard old plug safely).
(UK only - see diagram at right). Ensure the unit is correctly earthed via a three-pin plug.
a) Connect the GREEN/YELLOW earth wire to the earth terminal E.
b) Connect the BROWN live wire to live terminal L.
c) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal N.
d) After wiring, check that there are no bare wires, that all wires have been correctly connected,
that the cable outer insulation extends beyond the cable restraint and that the restraint is tight.
Double insulated products are often fitted with live (BROWN) and neutral (BLUE) wires only. Double insulated products are always marked with
this symbol . To re-wire, connect the brown & blue wires as indicated above. DO NOT connect the brown or blue to the earth terminal.
1.1.10. Some products require more than a 13 amp electrical supply. In such a case, NO plug will be fitted. You must contact a qualified electrician
to ensure a 30 amp supply is available. We recommend you discuss the installation of an industrial round pin plug and socket with your electrician.
1.1.11. Cable extension reels. When a cable extension reel is used it should be fully unwound before connection. A cable reel with an RCD
fitted is recommended since any product which is plugged into the cable reel will be protected. The section of the cores of the cable
is important and should be at least 1.5mm2, but to be absolutely sure that the capacity of the cable reel is
suitable for this product and for others that may be used in the other output sockets, we recommend the use of 2.5mm2section cable.
1.2 GENERAL SAFETY
3Familiarise yourself with the application, limitations and potential hazards of the tile cutter.
pWARNING! Disconnect the cutter from the mains power before changing accessories, servicing or performing any maintenance.
3The machine must only be serviced by a qualified person or service agent. Contact your Sealey dealer for information.
3Place the cutter on a supporting surface strong enough to take the weight of the machine and workpiece during operation.
3Keep the work area clean and tidy and free from unrelated materials. Ensure there is adequate lighting.
3Inhaling dust can be harmful - always wear respiratory protection and ensure that there is adequate ventilation.
3Maintain the cutter in good condition, check moving parts alignment regularly. Keep blade clean and in good condition.
3Replace or repair damaged parts. Use recommended parts only. Unauthorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
pWARNING! Keep all guards and holding screws in place, tight and in good working order. Check regularly for damaged parts.
Aguard, or any other part, that is damaged must be repaired or replaced before the tool is next used. The safety guard is a mandatory fitting when the
cutter is used on premises covered by the Health & Safety at Work Act.
3Before commencing work, ensure the blade is mounted correctly, securely fastened and is compatible with the machine, spindle speed and the material to be cut.
DO NOT use a blade which is damaged, bent or warped. Use only recommended blades.
3Remove adjusting keys and wrenches from the machine and the vicinity before turning it on.
3Machine operators must have received sufficient training and instructions as to the dangers posed by the cutter and the precautions to be observed. Operators must be
under the supervision of a person who has a thorough knowledge and experience of the machine and the required guards.
pWARNING! Wear approved safety eye protection, ear defenders and respiratory protection.
3Remove ill fitting clothing. Remove ties, watches, rings and other loose jewellery and contain long hair.
3Maintain correct balance and footing. Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear non-slip shoes.
3Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the work area.
3Avoid unintentional starting and never leave the cutter running unattended.
7DO NOT use the cutter for a task it is not designed for.
7DO NOT get cutter wet or use in damp or wet locations or areas where there is condensation.
7DO NOT use cutter where there are flammable liquids, solids or gases such as paint solvents and including waste wiping or cleaning rags etc.
7DO NOT operate the cutter if any parts are damaged or missing as this may cause failure and/or personal injury.
7DO NOT operate the cutter when you are tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating medication.

1.3. SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
pWARNING! Before each use, check that the blade is secure and not worn or damaged.
3Hold the workpiece firmly against the fence.
3Only feed the workpiece into the blade against the rotation of the blade.
3Avoid subjecting the blade to excessive strain, never force a workpiece. Maintain a controlled progression.
3Should the blade jam switch the power off immediately to prevent damage to the motor.
3TO AVOID WORKPIECE KICKBACK (when a workpiece is violently thrown back towards you):
a) Keep the blade in good condition.
b) Keep fence parallel to the blade.
c)DO NOT release workpiece until it is clear of the blade.
d) DO NOT attempt to cut a workpiece that does not have a straight edge to guide along the fence.
3Use a push stick when cutting narrow workpieces.
7DO NOT use your hands (free-hand) to guide the workpiece. Hold the workpiece firmly against the fence to guide it into the blade.
7DO NOT place yourself in an awkward operating position where a slip could cause your hand to move into the cutting blade.
7DO NOT stand, or have any part of your body, in line with the plane of the blade.
7DO NOT hold what will become the off-cut (the waste part of the workpiece).
pWARNING! DO NOT reach over or behind the blade.
pWARNING! DO NOT attempt to free a jammed blade without first switching off or removing the plug from the mains power supply.
7DO NOT cut any materials other than ceramic tile.
7DO NOT use solvents to clean plastic parts as they may be damaged. Use a soft damp cloth only.
3Store blades in a safe, dry, childproof location.
4. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
2.2. MOUNTING
2.2.1. The cutter should be used on a sturdy workbench. Ensure the supporting surface is strong enough to take the weight of the cutter and the workpiece
during operation.
pWARNING! Dust can be harmful if inhaled. Ensure that there is adequate ventilation and wear respiratory protection.
4.1. REFER TO Fig 1.
4.1.1. Raise the right-hand cutting table and retain it in the upright position with the mitre
support.
4.1.2. Remove the wing nut and cup washer from the end of the motor shaft.
4.1.3. Locate the cutting blade on to the drive shaft and ensure it is firmly up against the
inner washer, with the directional arrows in the counter-clockwise position, facing you.
4.1.4. Place the cup washer on the blade drive shaft and secure in place with the wing nut.
DO NOT over tighten the wing nut.
4.1.5. Remove the blade guard from its support.
4.1.6. Undo the self-tapping guard support screw from the recess in the main bed and place
the guard support in the recess. Secure the guard support by replacing the guard
support screw.
4.1.7. Locate the blade guard on the support and tighten the guard-retaining wing nut.
4.2. REFER TO Fig 2.
4.2.1. Locate the tile guide on the ruler guides at the front and back of the table. Clamp both.
ends to the table, as shown in Fig 2. The ruler guide is marked off in both inches and
centimetres.
4.2.2. Ensure the guide is parallel to the blade.
NOTE The tile guide can be used on either the left-hand or right-hand cutting table.
2.1. SPECIFICATION
3.1.1. Direct drive 250 watt electric motor capable of cutting tiles up to 24mm thick. Adjustable guides for right and left hand use on straight cuts. Table can be
tilted to 15°, 30° and 45° angles for cutting precision corner joints. Suitable for glazed ceramic, porcelain, quarry, slate and natural stone tiles. Complete
with water reservoir for blade cooling and dust suppression. Lightweight and easy set-up make this unit particularly suitable for DIY tiling.

5. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! As with all power tools, there are potential hazards involved with the use
of this cutter. It is therefore vital to ensure you read, understand and apply all the
safety instructions in Section 1. Familiarise yourself again with the specific safety
rules for each step of the following operation. Failure to do so may cause serious
damage and/or personal injury and may invalidate your warranty. Disconnect the
cutter from the mains power before making adjustments or changing blades. Ensure
that all screws and nuts are secure, that the blade is in good condition and correctly
mounted. ALWAYS have the blade guard down before turning on the cutter. Wear
approved safety eye protection.

5.1 REFER TO Fig 3.
5.1.1. Remove the electrical cable from its storage bay underneath the cutter.
NOTE: Ensure that the mains plug is the correct one for the voltage supply in use.
5.1.2. Check that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position prior to connecting the electrical
plug to the mains supply.
5.2 REFER TO Fig 4.
WARNING! Prior to cutting a tile, ensure that the tile is placed glazed side up, so as not to chip
the glaze.
5.2.1. Open the right-hand cutting table.
5.2.2. Fill the reservoir with water to the recommended level.
NOTE: The reservoir has a side overflow slot to ensure that the correct water level is
maintained.
5.3 REFER TO Fig 5.
5.3.1. STRAIGHT CUTTING. Position the tile guide for the cut required. Ensure that it is
parallel to the blade by checking the measurement on each guide ruler.
5.3.2. Adjust the blade guard until it is just above the tile surface.
5.3.3. Place the tile flush against the tile guide.
5.3.4. Push the tile forward towards the blade.
5.3.5. Always let the blade cut at its own speed. Do not force the material through the cutting
action.
pWARNING! DO NOT attempt to pick up an off-cut before the blade has completely stopped.
5.4 REFER TO Fig 6.
5.4.1. MITRE CUTTING. Adjust the right-hand cutting table to the required angle ie 15°, 30°
or 45°
5.4.2. Locate the mitre support stand into the appropriate grooves at the side of the cutter, to
hold the cutting table at the chosen angle.
5.4.3. Place the tile face down on to the right-hand angled cutting table. Ensure that the edge
of the tile rests in the groove that is in line with the blade.
5.4.4. ANGLE CUTTING. Use the angle cutting guide to cut tiles at 45°.
5.4.5. The tile guide can be placed on either side of the blade.
5.4.6. Hold the angle-cutting guide against the tile guide with the arrow facing towards the
blade and place the corner of the tile to be cut into the corner of the guide.
5.4.7 Move the angle guide and the tile towards the blade.
6.1 CHANGING THE BLADE
6.1.1. Remove the water from the reservoir and ensure that the work table is not at an angle.
6.1.2. Raise the right-hand cutting table and and retain it in the upright position with the mitre
support stand.
6.1.3. Undo the wing nut holding the cutting blade in place.
6.1.4. Remove the outer blade washer and the blade.
NOTE: When fitting the new blade it is very important to ensure that the rotation arrows are in
the counterclockwise position, facing you.
6.1.5. Locate the new cutting blade on the drive shaft and place the outer washer on the
shaft.
6.1.6. Secure both the blade and the washer in place with the wing nut.
6.1.7. Replace the blade guard, and refill the water reservoir to the required level.
pWARNING! DO NOT clean or maintain the cutter without first turning off the drive motor and
unplugging the cutter from the mains supply.
7.1.1. Always clean the cutter after use. Wipe all exterior surfaces and keep the cutting tables
free of debris.
7.1.2. After each cut, check the blade for cracks or damage.
NOTE: The geared drive motor is protected by an integral thermal cut-out switch. In the event
of this switch being activated, disconnect the power and leave the cutter to cool down.
Before reconnecting the cutter to the mains, check that the blade drive is free to run.
7.1.3. Clean the reservoir thoroughly after use.
7.1.4. Always store the electrical cable in the stowage provided after use.
7.1.5. DO NOT overfill the water reservoir, or allow it to run dry.
7.1.6. Always store the tile cutter in a dry environment.
7.1.7. DO NOT attempt to service or maintain the internal part of the motor, as this will
invalidate the guarantee.
