Sealey PC1750 User manual

1.1. ELECTRICAL SAFETY. p WARNING! It is the users responsibility to read, understand and comply with the following:
You must check all electrical equipment and appliances to ensure they are safe before using. You must inspect power supply leads, plugs and
all electrical connections for wear and damage. You must ensure the risk of electric shock is minimised by the installation of appropriate safety
devices. An RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) should be incorporated in the main distribution board. We also recommend that an RCD
(Residual Current Device) is used with all electrical products. It is particularly important to use an RCD together with portable products that are
plugged into an electrical supply not protected by an RCCB. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician. You may obtain a Residual Current Device
by contacting your Sealey dealer. You must also read and understand the following instructions concerning electrical safety.
1.1.1. The Electricity At Work Act 1989 requires all portable electrical appliances, if used on business premises, to be tested by
a qualified electrician, using a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT), at least once a year.
1.1.2. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 makes owners of electrical appliances responsible for the safe condition of the appliance
and the safety of the appliance operator. If in any doubt about electrical safety, contact a qualified electrician.
1.1.3. Ensure the insulation on all cables and the product itself is safe before connecting to the mains power supply. See 1.1.1. & 1.1.2. above and
use a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT).
1.1.4. Ensure that cables are always protected against short circuit and overload.
1.1.5. Regularly inspect power supply leads and plugs for wear and damage and all electrical connections
to ensure that none is loose.
1.1.6. DO NOT pull or carry the powered appliance by its power supply lead.
1.1.7. DO NOT pull power plugs from sockets by the power cable.
1.1.8. DO NOT use worn or damage leads, plugs or connections. Immediately replace or have repaired by
a qualified electrician. A U.K. 3 pin plug with ASTA/BS approval may be fitted. In case of damage, cut off
and fit a new plug according to the following instructions (discard old plug safely).
(UK only - see diagram at right). Ensure the unit is correctly earthed via a three-pin plug.
a) Connect the GREEN/YELLOW earth wire to the earth terminal E.
b) Connect the BROWN live wire to live terminal L.
c) Connect the BLUE neutral wire to the neutral terminal N.
After wiring, check there are no bare wires, that all wires have been correctly
connected, that the cable external insulation extends beyond the cable restraint and
that the restraint is tight.
Double insulated products are often fitted with live (BROWN) and neutral (BLUE) wires only. Double insulated products are always marked with
this symbol . To re-wire, connect the brown & blue wires as indicated above. DO NOT connect the brown or blue to the earth terminal.
1.1.9. Some products require more than a 13 amp supply. In such a case, NO plug will be fitted. You must contact a qualified electrician
to ensure a 30 amp fused supply is available. We recommend that you discuss the installation of an industrial round pin plug and socket with your
electrician. 1.1.10 Cable extension reels. When a cable extension reel is used it should be fully unwound before connection. A cable reel
with an RCD
fitted is recommended since any product which is plugged into the cable reel will be protected. The section of the cores of the cable
is important. 1.5mm2section cable is the minimum but to be absolutely sure that the capacity of the cable reel is suitable for this
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS & CAUTIONS.
USE THE PRODUCT CORRECTLY AND WITH CARE FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE
DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY. PLEASE KEEP INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE USE.
1.2 GENERAL SAFETY
pWARNING! Water and Electricity are dangerous partners. Be extremely cautious and always be aware that this device uses an
electric motor. Always plug into an RCD (See electrical safety above). Unplug from mains before changing accessories or servicing.
pWARNING! DO NOT USE the washer if any part of the unit, gun, nozzle, detergent bottle, hose or cables is damaged. Replace or
repair using genuine parts only. Non-authorised parts may be dangerous and will invalidate your warranty. Always check connections
are correctly secured and not cracked or damaged in any way before using the machine.
pWARNING! Use washer on a flat, levelled surface, with the handle in a vertical position. Failure to do so will invalidate your
warranty. NEVER use the washer tipped backwards or with the handle in a horizontal position .
4Always be aware of the potential hazards that may occur during use. Study the applications and limitations of the washer before use.
4Keep the washer in good condition. Use an authorised agent to service the unit.
4Wear adequate protective clothing, goggles and anti-slip rubber soled footwear.
4Use where air can freely circulate around the washer to avoid the machine over-heating.
pWARNING! Ensure all persons and animals keep at a minimum distance of 16yards (15m) from the washer when in use.
pWARNING! The pressure washer must only be used with clean water. Non-filtered water or corrosive chemicals must not be used as
they will damage the cleaner.
4Ensue you comply with all local water supply regulations. Power washers may only be connected to mains drinking water supply
if a valve to prevent back flow is installed in the supply hose, or at the tap outlet.
4Position the washer as near to the water supply as possible.
4The supply hose must must be reinforced, and have an internal diameter of 1/2. The water supply must be at least equal to the cleaner
capacity. The water temperature must NOT exceed 140OF (60OC). The water supply pressure must NOT exceed 145psi (10 bar).
4Ensure the nozzle is aimed correctly at the working surface before activating the jet.
4Before operating the trigger, GRIP the gun firmly to counteract the recoil from the high pressure water jet.
pWARNING! Avoid sudden bursts of water as such will cause water pressure to drop and put extreme pressure on hoses and connectors.
4If, during operation, power failure occurs turn the electricity and water off for safety reasons (but see para. 4.4. Note b).
pWARNING! The high pressure jet will cause loose particles to be propelled at high speed, which may cause serious injury.
pWARNING! DO NOT use the washer without a water supply. Dry running can seriously damage the unit.
8DO NOT touch plug with wet hands, to avoid the risk of electrocution. Keep all connections dry and off the ground.

pWARNING! DO NOT run the washer without the water supply connected. Dry running can seriously damage the unit.
pWARNING! DO NOT leave the motor running for more than 1-2 minutes without operating the trigger, as the temperature /pressure
increase may damage the machines seals.
4.1 USING DETERGENT.
4.1.1 The cradle on top of the motor is designed to accept a 5ltr container of fluid such as Sealey AK131 General Purpose Detergent or
Sealey AK133 Traffic Film Remover. Remove the container cap and insert the clear detergent pipe so that the filter on the end of the
pipe is at the bottom of the container and completely submerged in the fluid. Where the clear pipe is attached to the washer you will
find a red knob which controls the water/detergent mix. When turned fully clockwise no detergent is dispensed. As you turn the control
anticlockwise the fluid is progressively introduced. The lance nozzle must be set to the low ( - ) pressure position when using detergent. ( See fig.1.)
4.2 TURNING THE WASHER ON.
4.2.1 Turn the mains water supply fully on and press the trigger for a few seconds to allow any residual air pressure in the system to escape.
4.2.2 Whilst keeping the trigger depressed, start the motor by pressing the power switch to ON. Check for water leaks and tighten unions
where necessary. Always ensure that the trigger is fully depressed before starting or restarting the motor.
4.3 USING THE WASHER.
4.3.1 The nozzle must be set to the low ( - ) pressure position when using detergent. ( See fig.1.) Grip the gun firmly to counteract the recoil
of the water jet and aim at the working surface. On vertical surfaces work from the bottom upwards. Apply the detergent mix to the
working surface and leave the detergent to act for 1 to 2 minutes, but do not let the surface dry out. Turn the detergent control fully
clockwise to shut off the detergent flow and rinse the surface with clean water at high pressure using the fan spray. For stubborn
deposits reduce the fan to a pencil spray setting. ( See fig.1.)
4.4 WHEN WASHING IS COMPLETED.
4.4.1 Switch the motor off and turn off the mains water supply. ( Do not unplug from the electrical mains at this stage.)
4.4.2 Depress the trigger and switch the motor back on to discharge residual pressure within the system until no more water is discharged
from the nozzle. Switch the motor off and unplug the machine from the electrical mains supply.
4.4.3 Clean and dry the machine and store in a secure location.
NOTE :a) If the water pressure drops ( i.e. someone using same water supply ), the washer will not operate correctly. Immediately switch off
the motor and wait until the pressure is restored.
b) Should the motor stop and fail to restart, the built in thermal cut-out may have tripped. Check to ensure the washer is correctly
connected to the water supply and electrical mains. ( Also see Trouble shooting section ). Wait 5 minutes for the cut-out to reset
and then restart the motor. If the motor continues to cut out contact your authorised service agent.

pWARNING! Ensure the pressure washer is switched off and unplugged from the electrical power supply and turned off at the
water supply tap before proceeding.
5.1. Take the nozzle cleaning tool, detach the lance from the gun and remove any dirt from nozzle, then rinse.
5.2. Check washer, gun, lance, hose, connections and cables for damage regularly. Repair or replace any damaged items before next use.
DO NOT open the casing, use authorised agent to service the washer.
5.3 If storing the washer for a long period during winter ensure that the temperature of the storage area does not drop below freezing.
Alternatively operate the washer with a non-corrosive, non-toxic anti-freeze before storage.
5.4 Check the oil level on a regular basis by removing the dipstick and observing the oil level in relation to the rib on the
dipstick. Top up if required with multigrade oil SAE 20/30.
5.5 Periodically flush out the detergent system with clean water to eliminate build up of detergent deposits.
5.6. Keep the washer clean at all times.
