OPERATION The SIEMENS Model HLIM Loop Isolator Module solates short c rcu ts on F reF nder-
XLS analog loops. By plac ng dev ces between HLIMs dur ng nstallat on, a short n
the w r ng w th n that group s d sconnected from the rest of the loop. The rema nder

does not have a loop address and therefore does not requ re address programm ng
nor does t reduce the loop capac ty below 252 dev ces.
Remove all system power before installation, first the battery and then the AC.
INSTALLATION The HLIM s a polar ty nsens t ve module. Refer to F gure 1 for the locat on of the
two nput term nals and two output term nals. L ne 1 and L ne 2 can be e ther l ne of
the loop.
The HLIM may be used n two c rcu t conf gurat ons as follows:
Class B (See F gure 2) In Class B w r ng each HLIM solates a branch on the c rcu t. Note that
a short on the ma n branch causes the ent re loop to fa l. To prevent th s, mount the
HLIMs at the F reF nder-XLS enclosure and run each branch ndependently.

national and local codes.
. In order to provide adequate
protection, it is recom-
mended that you do not
install more than 0 devices
on a single HLIM.
3. Minimum wire gauge is
18 AWG.
4. The total wire resistance
(both wires) between HLIMs
cannot exceed 0 ohms.
5. Do not install more than 15
HLIMs per DLC loop.
6. All circuits are supervised.
7. Refer to DLC Installation

for the list of compatible
devices.
8. All terminals are power
limited.

Mechan cal Installat on (See F gure 4)
 Use a standard 3 1/2- nch deep, double gang electr cal sw tchbox or a 4- nch
square electr cal box that s 2 1/8 nches deep.
 Connect the f eld w r ng. Press the HLIM nto the box and fasten the
module plate to the box.
 Cover the module front plate w th the plate suppl ed and fasten w th screws
suppl ed.
