Purpose of the documentation
This documentation supplements the system documentation of the following product series of
distributed I/Os:
• SIMATIC ET 200SP HA distributed I/O
• SIMATIC ET 200SP distributed I/O
The I/O components described extend these distributed I/O systems with the option of
integrating devices located in hazardous areas (intrinsically safe sensors, actuators and HART
󹪝eld devices) into the system. The associated I/O modules with device protection according to
intrinsic safety "i" o󹪜er channel outputs in Zone 0 or 1. For setup, at least one special potential
group must be integrated into the distributed I/O. Such a potential group is referred to as an Ex
module group in the following.
