Before beginning work with this device, please read this manual! It contains important
information and data whose observation ensures proper device function and saves you
servicing costs. The manual will help you to operate the device more easily and efficiently,
allowing you to achieve reliable results.

General information
This device left the factory in a safe and proper condition and has been tested. In order to
maintain this condition and to ensure safe operation, it should only be used in the manner
described by the manufacturer. Furthermore, proper transportation, storage, installation,
operation and maintenance of the device are vital for ensuring correct and safe operation.
This manual contains the information required for the intended use of the described product.
It is addressed to technically qualified personnel who are specially trained or who have the
relevant knowledge of automation technology (measuring and control systems).
Knowledge and technically correct implementation of the safety notes and warnings
contained in this manual are required for safe installation and commissioning, as well as for
safety during the operation and maintenance of the described product. Only qualified
personnel have the required professional knowledge for correctly interpreting the generally
valid safety notes and warnings in this manual in each specific case and to act accordingly.
This manual is an inherent part of the scope of delivery, despite the fact that it can be

Field of application
The FIDAMAT 6-E gas analyzer is used for quantitative determination of hydrocarbons. The
device can also be used for measuring corrosive and condensing gas mixtures.
The FIDAMAT 6 analyzer is intended for continuous operation. Frequent switching on and off
(e.g. daily) can negatively affect the service life of the ignition device and pilot light.
Benefits
The FIDAMAT 6-E gas analyzer is characterized by a wide range of possible applications:
Measurements are thus possible under the following conditions:

●In ultra-pure gas applications
●With high-boiling components (up to 200 °C)

Besides the standard combinations, special-purpose applications are available on
request, e.g. measuring range 0 to 100%.

Measurement in flue gases according to 13th/17th BlmSchV and TA Luft for fuel types oil,
coal, gas and waste.
Furthermore, the TÜV-approved versions of the FIDAMAT 6 comply with the
requirements of EN 14956 and QAL 1 according to EN 14181. Conformity of the devices
with both standards is TÜV-certified.
Determination of the device drift according to EN 14181 (QAL 3) can be done manually or
with a PC using the SIPROM GA maintenance and service software. In addition, selected
manufacturers of emission evaluation computers offer the possibility for downloading the
drift data via the analyzer's serial interface and to automatically record and process it in
an evaluation computer.

Certified operation for emission monitoring according to EN 15267-3
This function only applies to device version 7MB2421-xDA1x-1AAx–
Y27.
For certified operation, a compensation of the influence of interference gas caused by
oxygen is required. For this purpose, the analyzer must be supplied with the current oxygen
concentration value of the sample gas. This is done by an external measuring instrument,
which must also meet the requirements of EN 15267-3 (e.g. ULTRAMAT 23 or OXYMAT 6).
The FIDAMAT 6E –Y27 is preconfigured for this and expects an analog signal of 4 ... 20 mA
corresponding to 0 ... 21 vol% O2at analog input AI2.

Design of the entire device
The FIDAMAT 6 is made up of two main groups:

This comprises:

The operating board is integrated in the front panel. The adapter board contains the
preamplifier for recording measured values and the control unit.

The device is constructed in such a way that the parts contained in it are easy to access for
service. It is accessible from the top (for maintenance of individual components) as well as
from the rear (for replacement of the sample gas filter).
The sample gas pump is easily accessible from the top. The gas connections and the
electrical connections are mounted on the rear of the device.

Inputs and outputs
●Two analog inputs can be configured
●One analog output 0/2/4 – 20 mA
●Six user-configurable binary inputs, for example, for:
–Autorange
–Processing external signals from the sample preparation
●Six user-configurable relay outputs, for example, for:
–Fault
–Maintenance request
–Limit alarm
–External solenoid valves
●Can be extended by eight binary inputs and eight relay outputs for automatic calibration
with a maximum of four calibration gases
Communication
●ELAN (RS 485) included in the standard configuration (connection at rear and behind the
fold-down front panel)
Options:
●Converter to RS 232 (for ELAN)
●Converter to TCP/IP Ethernet (for ELAN)
