3)PERSONALSAFETY

may result in serious personal injury.
b) Usepersonalprotectiveequipment.Alwayswear
eyeprotection.Protectiveequipmentsuchasdust
mask,non-skidsafetyshoes,hardhat,orhearing
protectionusedforappropriateconditionswillreduce
personal injuries.
c) Preventunintentionalstarting.Ensuretheswitchis
intheoff-positionbeforeconnectingtopower
sourceand/orbatterypack,pickinguporcarrying
thetool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the
switchorenergisingpowertoolsthathavetheswitch
oninvitesaccidents.
d) Removeanyadjustingkeyorwrenchbeforeturning
thepowertoolon.Awrenchorakeyleftattachedtoa
rotatingpartofthepowertoolmayresultinpersonal
injury.
e) Donotoverreach.Keepproperfootingandbalance
atalltimes.Thisenablesbettercontrolofthepower
tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dressproperly.Donotwearlooseclothingor
jewellery.Keepyourhair,clothingandglovesaway
frommovingparts.Looseclothes,jewelleryorlong
haircanbecaughtinmovingparts.
g) Ifdevicesareprovidedfortheconnectionofdust
extractionandcollectionfacilities,ensuretheseare
connectedandproperlyused.Useofdustcollection
can reduce dust-related hazards.
4)POWERTOOLUSEANDCARE
a) Donotforcethepowertool.Usethecorrectpower
toolforyourapplication. The correct power tool will
dothejobbetterandsaferattherateforwhichitwas
designed.
b) Donotusethepowertooliftheswitchdoesnotturn
itonandoff. Any power tool that cannot be controlled
with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Disconnecttheplugfromthepowersourceand/or
thebatterypackfromthepowertoolbeforemaking
anyadjustments,changingaccessories,orstoring
powertools.Suchpreventivesafetymeasuresreduce
theriskofstartingthepowertoolaccidentally.
d) Storeidlepowertoolsoutofthereachofchildren
anddonotallowpersonsunfamiliarwiththepower
toolortheseinstructionstooperatethepowertool.
Powertoolsaredangerousinthehandsofuntrained
users.
e) Maintainpowertools.Checkformisalignmentor
bindingofmovingparts,breakageofpartsandany
otherconditionthatmayaffectthepowertool’s
operation.Ifdamaged,havethepowertoolrepaired
beforeuse. Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools.
f) Keepcuttingtoolssharpandclean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Usethepowertool,accessoriesandtoolbitsetc.,
inaccordancewiththeseinstructions,takinginto
accounttheworkingconditionsandtheworktobe
performed.Useofthepowertoolforoperations
differentfromthoseintendedcouldresultina
hazardous situation.
5)SERVICE
a) Haveyourpowertoolservicedbyaqualifiedrepair
personusingonlyidenticalreplacementparts.
Thiswillensurethatthesafetyofthepowertoolis
maintained.
SAFETYINSTRUCTIONSFORANGLEGRINDERS
1)SAFETYINSTRUCTIONSFORALLOPERATIONS
a) Thispowertoolisintendedtofunctionasagrinder,
sander,wirebrush,polisherorcut-offtool.
Readallsafetywarnings,instructions,illustrations
andspecificationsprovidedwiththispowertool.
Failuretofollowallinstructionslistedbelowmayresult
inelectricshock,reand/orseriousinjury.
b) Donotuseaccessorieswhicharenotspecifically
designedandrecommendedbythetool
manufacturer.Just because the accessory can be
attachedtoyourpowertool,itdoesnotassuresafe
operation.
c) Theratedspeedoftheaccessorymustbeatleast
equaltothemaximumspeedmarkedonthepower
tool.Accessoriesrunningfasterthantheirratedspeed
can fly apart.
d) Theoutsidediameterandthethicknessofyour
accessorymustbewithinthecapacityratingofyour
powertool.Incorrectly sized accessories cannot be
adequatelyguardedorcontrolled.
e) Thearboursizeofwheels,flanges,backingpadsor
anyotheraccessorymustproperlyfitthespindleof
thepowertool.Accessories with arbour holes that do
notmatchthemountinghardwareofthepowertoolwill
runoutofbalance,vibrateexcessivelyandmaycause
lossofcontrol.
f) Donotuseadamagedaccessory.Beforeeachuse
inspecttheaccessorysuchasabrasivewheelsfor
chipsandcracks,backingpadsforcracks,tearor
excesswear,wirebrushesforlooseorcracked
wires.Ifthepowertooloraccessoryisdropped,
inspectfordamageorinstallanundamaged
accessory.Afterinspectingandinstallingan
accessory,positionyourselfandbystandersaway
fromtheplaneoftherotatingaccessoryandrunthe
powertoolatmaximumnoloadspeedforone
minute.Damaged accessories will normally break apart
during this test time.
g) Wearpersonalprotectiveequipment 4. Depending
onapplication,usefaceshield,safetygogglesor
safetyglasses.Asappropriate,weardustmask,
hearingprotectors,glovesandshopaproncapable
ofstoppingsmallabrasiveorworkpiecefragments.
Theeyeprotectionmustbecapableofstoppingying
debrisgeneratedbyvariousoperations.Thedustmask
orrespiratormustbecapableofltratingparticles
generated by your operation. Prolonged exposure to
high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.
h) Keepbystandersasafedistanceawayfromwork
area.Anyoneenteringtheworkareamustwear
personalprotectiveequipment.Fragmentsofthe
workpieceorofabrokenaccessorymayyawayand
causeinjurybeyondtheimmediateareaofoperation.
i) Holdthepowertoolonlybytheinsulatedgripping
surfaceswhenperforminganoperationwherethe
cuttingtoolmaycontacthiddenwiringoritsown
powercord.Contactwitha“live”wirewillalsomake
exposedmetalpartsofthepowertool“live”andshock
the operator.
j) Positionthecordclearofthespinningaccessory.
Ifyoulosecontrol,thecordmaybecutorsnaggedand
your hand or arm may be pulled into the spinning
accessory.
k) Neverlaythepowertooldownuntiltheaccessory
hascometoacompletestop.The spinning accessory
maygrabthesurfaceandpullthepowertooloutof
your control.
l) Donotrunthepowertoolwhilecarryingitatyour
side.Accidental contact with the spinning accessory
couldsnagyourclothing,pullingtheaccessoryinto
your body.
m)Regularlycleanthepowertool’sairvents.
Themotor’sfanwilldrawthedustinsidethehousing
andexcessiveaccumulationofpowderedmetalmay
cause electrical hazards.
n) Donotoperatethepowertoolnearflammable
materials.Sparks could ignite these materials.
o) Donotuseaccessoriesthatrequireliquidcoolants.
Usingwaterorotherliquidcoolantsmayresultin
electrocution or shock.
2)KICKBACKANDRELATEDWARNINGS
• Kickbackisasuddenreactiontoapinchedorsnagged
rotatingwheel,backingpad,brushoranyother
accessory.Pinchingorsnaggingcausesrapidstallingof
the rotating accessory which in turn causes the
uncontrolledpowertooltobeforcedinthedirection
oppositeoftheaccessory’srotationatthepointofthe
binding.

• Forexample,ifanabrasivewheelissnaggedorpinched
bytheworkpiece,theedgeofthewheelthatisentering
intothepinchpointcandigintothesurfaceofthe
material causing the wheel to climb out or kick out.
Thewheelmayeitherjumptowardorawayfromthe
operator,dependingonthedirectionofthewheel’s
movementatthepointofpinching.Abrasivewheels
may also break under these conditions.
• Kickbackistheresultofpowertoolmisuseand/or
incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can
beavoidedbytakingproperprecautionsasgiven
below.
a) Maintainafirmgriponthepowertoolandposition
yourbodyandarmtoallowyoutoresistkickback
forces.Alwaysuseauxiliaryhandle,ifprovided,for
maximumcontroloverkickbackortorquereaction
duringstart-up.Theoperatorcancontroltorque
reactionsorkickbackforces,ifproperprecautionsare
taken.
b) Neverplaceyourhandneartherotatingaccessory.
Theaccessorymaykickbackoveryourhand.
c) Donotpositionyourbodyintheareawherepower
toolwillmoveifkickbackoccurs.Kickback will propel
the tool in the direction opposite to the wheel’s
movementatthepointofsnagging.
d) Usespecialcarewhenworkingcorners,sharp
edgesetc.Avoidbouncingandsnaggingthe
accessory.Corners,sharpedgesorbouncinghavea
tendency to snag the rotating accessory and cause loss
ofcontrolorkickback.
e) Donotattachasawchainwoodcarvingbladeor
toothedsawblade.Suchbladescreatefrequent
kickbackandlossofcontrol.
3)SAFETYWARNINGSSPECIFICFORGRINDINGAND
CUTTINGOFFOPERATIONS
a) Useonlywheeltypesthatarerecommendedfor
yourpowertoolandthespecificguarddesignedfor
theselectedwheel.Wheelsforwhichthepowertool
wasnotdesignedcannotbeadequatelyguardedand
areunsafe.
b) Theguardmustbesecurelyattachedtothepower
toolandpositionedformaximumsafety,sotheleast
amountofwheelisexposedtowardstheoperator.
Theguardhelpstoprotecttheoperatorfrombroken
wheelfragmentsandaccidentalcontactwiththewheel.
c) Wheelsmustbeusedonlyforrecommended
applications.For example: Do not grind with the side
ofacut-offwheel.Abrasivecut-offwheelsareintended
forperipheralgrinding;sideforcesappliedtothese
wheels may cause them to shatter.
d) Alwaysuseundamagedwheelflangesthatareof
correctsizeandshapeforyourselectedwheel.
Proper wheel flanges support the wheel thus reducing
thepossibilityofwheelbreakage.Flangesforcut-off
wheelsmaybedifferentfromgrindingwheelanges.
e) Donotuseworndownwheelsfromlargerpower
tools.Awheelintendedforalargerpowertoolisnot
suitableforthehigherspeedofasmallertoolandmay
burst.
4)ADDITIONALSAFETYWARNINGSSPECIFICFOR
CUTTINGOFFOPERATIONS
a) Donot“jam”thecut-offwheelorapplyexcessive
pressure.Donotattempttomakeanexcessive
depthofcut.Overstressingthewheelincreasesthe
loadingandsusceptibilitytotwistingorbindingofthe
wheelinthecutandthepossibilityofkickbackorwheel
breakage.
b) Donotpositionyourbodyinlinewithandbehindthe
rotatingwheel.Whenthewheel,atthepointof
operation,ismovingawayfromyourbody,thepossible
kickback may propel the spinning wheel and the power
tool directly at you.
c) Whenthewheelisbindingorwheninterruptingacut
foranyreason,switchoffthepowertoolandhold
thepowertoolmotionlessuntilthewheelcomesto
acompletestop.Neverattempttoremovethecut-
offwheelfromthecutwhilethewheelisinmotion,
otherwisekickbackmayoccur.Investigateandtake
correctiveactiontoeliminatethecauseofwheel
binding.
d) Donotrestartthecuttingoperationintheworkpiece.
Letthewheelreachfullspeedandcarefullyre-enter
thecut.Thewheelmaybind,walkuporkickbackifthe
power tool is restarted in the workpiece.
e) Supportpanelsoranyoversizedworkpieceto
minimizetheriskofwheelpinchingandkickback.
Large workpieces tend to sag under their own weight.
Supports must be placed under the workpiece near the
lineofcutandneartheedgeoftheworkpieceonboth
sidesofthewheel.
f) Useextracautionwhenmakinga“pocketcut”into
existingwallsorotherblindareas.The protruding
wheelmaycutgasorwaterpipes,electricalwiringor
objects that can cause kickback.
5)SAFETYWARNINGSSPECIFICFORSANDING
OPERATIONS
a) Whensanding,donotuseexcessivelyoversized
sandingdiscpaper.Followthemanufacturers’
recommendationswhenselectingsandingpaper.
Larger sanding paper extending beyond the sanding
pad presents a laceration hazard and may cause
snagging,tearingofthedisc,orkickback.
6)SAFETYWARNINGSSPECIFICFORPOLISHING
a) Donotallowanylooseportionofthepolishing
bonnetoritsattachmentstringstospinfreely.
Tuckawayortrimanylooseattachmentstrings.
Loose and spinning attachment strings can entangle
your fingers or snag on the workpiece.
7)SAFETYWARNINGSSPECIFICFORWIRE
BRUSHINGOPERATIONS
a) Beawarethatwirebristlesarethrownbythebrush
evenduringordinaryoperation.Donotoverstress
thewiresbyapplyingexcessiveloadtothebrush.
The wire bristles can easily penetrate light clothing and/
or skin.
b) Iftheuseofaguardisrecommendedforwire
brushing,donotallowanyinterferenceofthewire
wheelorbrushwiththeguard.Wire wheel or brush
may expand in diameter due to work load and
centrifugalforces.
