Mounting Guide

DA 1911 Flange Inlet
4 Mounting Guide
1 Product description
Flange inlet DA 1911 is a universal wall inlet which is used for ventilating livestock houses with natural, LPV or
Combi-Tunnel ventilation.
The flange inlet can be adapted to wall thicknesses up to 50 cm employing an extension piece. The inlet is fixed
on the inside wall by screws through the flange itself. It cannot be built or cast directly into wall elements.
The Advanced inlet control of the inlets is patent pending and is supplied with a regulation set which makes it
easy to adjust the air inlet in accordance with the current conditions.
The inlet is easy-to-clean due to its open and smooth construction. Also, the thermoplastic stands high-pressure
cleaning. Furthermore, the choice of material makes the inlet resistant to UV radiation. The inlet is made of high-
impact material; it is dimensionally stable and 100% recyclable.

3.3 Wall inlet positioning
The positioning of the inlet in a wall depends on the layout of the building and the house layout. The positioning
may therefore only be made according to directions communicated by SKOV A/S or representatives of the com-
pany.
The inlet must be placed horizontally in the wall. The inlet flap should be pointing into the livestock house.
Place the insulation of the brickwork against the inlet all the way round (like in other categories of constructions).
This way you prevent a cold bridge along the side of the inlet from being formed.
The inlet is fixed on the inside wall by screws directly through the flange itself, see section Mounting using
screws. In connection with brick and concrete walls, use mounting foam to fix the inlet, see section Mounting
using foam [}16].

Mount the net on the extension by means of 6 screws.
Push the inlet into wall hole.

DA 1911 Flange Inlet
Mounting Guide 15
3.4.3 Mounting using screws
Make sure that the inlet flap closes tightly: In
case of oblique walls, you have to make sure not to
tighten the screws too much so the inlet frame be-
comes oblique; the inlet flap is then not able to close
tightly, see the section Oblique walls [}17].
Place the inlet in the middle of the hole. Avoid pushing
the inlet into place during mounting.
Drill ø6 mm holes indicated by the center marks in the
outside frame of the inlet.
Use 6 center marks. 3 in the upper flange and 3 in the
lower flange.
Use the holes to mark out holes in the wall.
Center mark or 2 mm hole when mounting in a sand-
wich panel. Material thickness ≤ 1mm.
4 mm hole when mounting in steel profiles.
Material thickness >1 mm ≤ 2 mm.
4.5 mm hole when mounting in steel profiles.
Material thickness >2 mm ≤ 4 mm.
Recommended screw: Tapping screw 4.8x70 A2.
Recommended tightening: 5.1 Nm.
Mount the inlet on the wall using screws.
Make sure not to over-tighten the screws as they are
tightened directly against plastic.

DA 1911 Flange Inlet
16 Mounting Guide
3.4.4 Mounting using foam
SKOV A/S recommends using single-component polyurethane foam or similar.
Check before foaming how much the foam expands.
Place the inlet in the middle of the hole. Avoid pushing
the inlet into place during mounting.
Fix it using smooth wedges/distance pieces. Place the
wedges at each end in order not to press the inlet.
Make sure that the inlet flap closes tightly.
Remove the wedges again after pointing.
Point the inlet as shown in the photo. The inlet is
pointed in the entire depth of the inlet in the corners
and approx. 100 mm to each side of the corners. It is
important only to seal the edge in the middle of the inlet
as the joint would otherwise make the inlet skew. We
recommend using a sealant gun.
Wet the joint faces with water from a
mist sprayer before proceeding with
the pointing.

DA 1911 Flange Inlet
Mounting Guide 17
Point the inlet fully by filling the joint 10 mm from the
front edge of the wall.
Push the joint sealer towards the inlet when the sealer
has dried a little to make room for repointing using a
rubber sealer.
Wet the joint with water from a mist sprayer.
Wait until the next day to ensure that the mounting
foam is dry before applying the final rubber sealer, see
the section Final rubber sealant edge [}18]
3.4.5 Oblique walls
If the inside wall is oblique, it may be necessary to
mount a heavy-duty plate or wedges between the inlet
and the wall in order to avoid distortion of the inlet.
It is important to adjust the distortion when mounting in
oblique walls. Otherwise, the inlet flap does not close
tightly after the inlet is inserted.
Place the inlet in the hole and fasten it with 1 screw/
foam in one of the corners. Push the opposite end of
the inlet against the wall in order to check whether the
inlet flap closes tightly.
If this is not the case, the frame of the inlet must be
aligned by means of wedges.

DA 1911 Flange Inlet
18 Mounting Guide
Use the 2 embedded wedges to align the inlet.
If no alignment is required, remove the wedges so they
do not hamper the air current.
Each time a screw is tightened, check that the inlet flap
still closes tightly. Otherwise, you must adjust the
wedges until the inlet flap closes tightly again.
Remove the redundant part of the wedge when all the
screws have been tightened.
3.4.6 Final rubber sealant edge
SKOV A/S recommends Sikaflex 111 Stick & Seal.

DA 1911 Flange Inlet
Mounting Guide 19
Apply a sealing edge between the inlet and the wall -
both on the inside and the outside.
If the distance between the wall and the edge of the in-
let exceeds 6 mm, sealant tape can be used before
making a sealing edge.
3.4.7 Checking the assembly
Check that all the edges are tight and that the inlet flap
closes tightly at both ends.
3.5 Mounting the regulation set

20 Mounting Guide
Press U-shackle with reel into place or tap the shackle gen-
tly with a hammer.
The big reel must have an end backlash of 0.5 - 1 mm.
Disassembly is preferably done with pliers and tapping with
a hammer.
Mount the filler plugs included.
Only when all reels have been mounted, the pull rod is
pushed into place.
Place the screw in the clamp on the pull rod.
