DOL 192 30-75 Egg Counter
4 Technical User Guide
1 Product description
The DOL 192 Egg Counter is intended for automatic counting of eggs on a conveyor belt. It is touch-free and
functions with the aid of an infra-red light. This reduces the risk of injuries, contamination and ensures an unres-
tricted flow of eggs on the conveyor belt.
The DOL 192 Egg Counter is available in 7 different variants (2 small 24 V DC egg counters and 5 large 230 V
AC egg counters), so that it fits the conveyor belt.
• DOL 192 12 cm scan width 120 mm, 24 V DC is suitable for counting eggs on longitudinal conveyor belts.
• DOL 192 20 cm scan width 120 – 200 mm, 24 V DC is suitable for counting eggs on longitudinal conveyor
belts.
• DOL 192 30/40/50/60/75 cm scan width 223 – 760 mm, 230 V DC are suitable for counting eggs on con-
veyor belts that collect eggs from more than one longitudinal conveyor belt.
The DOL 192 egg counter provides 1 pulse per egg to a DOL 53X house controller (version 2.2 or newer).
The DOL 192 Egg Counter is accurate to at least 99.5% when installed correctly.

3.3 Mounting on conveyor belt
The egg counter is mounted on the supplied bracket directly over the conveyor belt.
Ensure that the bracket does not cover the sensor.
In order for the egg counter to be able to count optimally, it must be placed so that the eggs are unable to roll or
move sideways. Eggs that move around may be counted more than once.
The eggs must not be able to move backwards when the conveyor belt stops.
Sharp light, especially sunlight and fluorescent light, may affect the accuracy of the egg counter. Place the egg
counter so that it is not exposed to direct (sun) light, or ensure that it is protected from sources of light.
In the event of too much light, the red LED will turn on. (DOL 192 12-20)
In the event of too much light, warning # 4 (DOL 192 30-75) will appear on the display.
3.3.1 DOL 192 30-75
Flat conveyor belt
Mount the bracket so that there is approx. 62 mm between
the upper side of the conveyor belt and the bottom of DOL
192 30-75.
The distance between the top of the egg and the egg
counter should be approx. 18 mm.
Bar conveyor belt
Mount the bracket so that there is approx. 62 mm between
the lowest conveyor bar and the bottom of DOL 192 30-75.
The distance between the top of the egg and the egg
counter should be approx. 18 mm.
Scan width
The eggs should not be moving here
The distance between the side of the conveyor belt and the
last infra-red sensor should be a maximum of 20 mm.

Scan width
If the scan width of DOL 192 30-75 cm is wider than the
width of the conveyor belt, some of the infra-red sensors
should be turned off.
Set the dipswitch on scan module X (slave), see table be-
low.
The scan width can be adjusted in steps of ≈11 mm.
The distance between the last (used) infra-red sensor and
the edge of the conveyor belt should be approx. 14-20 mm.

4 Installation Guide
When the power supply to the egg counter is turned on, the egg counter runs a self-test for 2 seconds. It is sub-
sequently ready to count eggs.
The number of eggs counted per day will appear on the display. The number of eggs
counted per day will increase by one each time an egg is counted. 1 pulse is generated
simultaneously on the output of the counter (1 pulse per egg, max. 5 pulses per
second).
The egg counter has been fitted with a standby input. The standby input must be activ-
ated when the conveyor belt under the egg counter is stopped. When the standby input
is active, appears at the bottom of the display and the egg counter ceases to
count eggs.
The egg counter is always ready to count eggs if the standby input is not connected.
This may have a negative effect on the accuracy of the egg counter however.
We recommend using the standby input at all times in order to ensure maximum accuracy.
4.1 Setting the clock
The egg counter’s clock should be set to the current time.

4.2 Electrical connection
Qualified personnel in accordance with the applicable national and international standard EN
60204-1 and any other EU standards that are applicable in Europe must perform installation, ser-
vicing and troubleshooting of all electrical equipment.
The installation of a power supply isolator is required for each motor and power supply to facilitate
voltage-free work on the electrical equipment. The power supply isolator is not provided.

The DOL 539/535’s installation menu shows precisely, which terminals
the egg counter should be connected to. The ground terminal is not
displayed. If Pull up is displayed, a 10 KΩ resistor must be installed.

5 Maintenance Instructions
5.1 Cleaning
The egg counter is maintenance-free but should be kept free of litter and dirt.
Clean the product with a cloth that has been wrung out almost dry in water and avoid using:
• high-pressure cleaning
• solvents
• corrosive/caustic agents
The egg counter should preferably be cleaned in standby mode in order to prevent counting errors.
Ensure that the egg counter is not damaged by high-pressure or steam cleaning. The egg counter should be
turned on (standby mode) during cleaning in order to heat the cabinet from the inside and avoid drawing humid-
ity.
5.2 Recycling/Disposal
Products, which are suited for recycling, are marked with a pictogram showing a refuse bin that is
crossed out. See illustration.
It must be possible for customers to deliver the products to local collection sites/recycling stations in accordance
with local instructions. The recycling station will then arrange for further transport to a certified plant for reuse,
recovery and recycling.

6 Troubleshooting Instructions
6.1 Error messages
The egg counter will check counting operations. The following error messages may occur:
Alarm Description Type of
alarm
Cause
Communication error Alarm No connection to scan module number x.
Calibration error on scan mod-
ule
Alarm Scan module number x is not calibrated.
Total calibration error Alarm All scan modules are not calibrated.
Light intensity is too high Warning Light intensity is too high
In the event of error messages 1, 2 and 3, the egg counting will be incorrect.
The error message: ‘light intensity is too high’ occurs when too much light has been measured. This may occur
when, e.g. sunlight reflects on the conveyor belt.
6.2 Unexpected counting results
Problem Possible cause
DOL 192 is not counting
enough eggs
Adjust mounting distance; see section Mounting on conveyor belt [}8](Mount-
ing on conveyor belt)
DOL 192 is counting too
many eggs
The eggs are moving around, e.g. because the egg supply is too close, see
section Mounting on conveyor belt [}8](Mounting on conveyor belt)
The standby transverse conveyor belt is not connected. The error occurs when
the conveyor belt starts/stops; see section Installation Guide [}10](Installation
Guide)
