STANDARDS AND PROVISIONS: Standards, recommendations,
regulations and provisions of t e country in w ic t e devices will
operate, must be considered w ile planning and setting up electrical
devices. Work on 100 .. 240 V AC network is allowed for aut orized
personnel only.
DANGER WARNINGS: Devices or modules must be protected from
moisture, dirt and damage during transport, storing and operation.
WARRANTY CONDITIONS: For all modules LONGO LPC-2 – if no
modifications are performed upon and are correctly connected by
aut orized personnel – in consideration of maximum allowed
connecting power, warranty of 24 mont s is valid from t e date of
sale to t e end buyer, but not more t an 36 mont s after delivery
from Smarte . In case of claims wit in warranty time, w ic are based
on material malfunctions t e producer offers free replacement. T e
met od of return of malfunctioned module, toget er wit description,
can be arranged wit our aut orized representative. Warranty does
not include damage due to transport or because of unconsidered
corresponding regulations of t e country, w ere t e module is
installed.
T is device must be connected properly by t e provided connection
sc eme in t is manual. Misconnections may result in device damage,
fire or personal injury.
Hazardous voltage in t e device can cause electric s ock and may
result in personal injury or deat .
NEVER SERVICE THIS PRODUCT YOURSELF!
T is device must not be installed in t e systems critical for life (e.g.
medical devices, aircrafts, etc.).
If t e device is used in a manner not specified by t e manufacturer,
t e degree of protection provided by t e equipment may be impaired.
Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) must be collected
separately!

1 DESCR PT ON
LPC-2.CA2M RFID reader is intended to be used as an identity verification device at room entrance.
Module also provides display for four different messages and requests, usually activated from ot er
module inside t e room. T is messages are convenient to notify personnel (e.g. occupied, do not
disturb, SOS, room service).
W en RFID tag (key-card) is approac ed to t e reader, t e green LED blinks and a s ort beep is
generated if code is successfully read out. In case key-card for correspondent room is valid, t e
green LED blinks again and a s ort beep is generated. Ot er devices can be activated at t is event
like door lock opening, turning lig t on... (LPC Manager can be used for function logic). If t e ID card
number is not valid, t e red LED blinks and a longer beep is generated.
In case ot er (magnet or contact–c ip) card system is used for door unlock, LPC-2.CA2M module can
be used only to s ow messages.
LPC-2.CA2M module can be modified on customer request: custom front label, touc buttons added,
LEDs added, ousing color. Please contact manufacturer for more information.
LPC-2.CA2M reads unique ID (UID) from standard ISO/IEC 14443 A/MIFARE.

Operation of t e CA2M module is also dependent on parameters received on RS-485 communication
c annel.
Reader RFID field is active always w en module is powered up. If tag is put inside RFID field, reader
tries to resolve RFID tag code. If code is read successfully, module activates status iIDNew,
generates a s ort beep, OK LED1 blinks and code is transmitted in iIDW1 - iIDW3 status fields. In
main module application t is code can be read out and aut enticated. If code as appropriate
rig ts, main module s ould activate oOK command. If code is not aut orized, main module
application s ould activate oFault command. Regarding command received, following action are
triggered on module:
oOK ==> OK LED4 blink, s ort beep.
oFault ==> FAULT LED3 blink, long beep.
Eit er command is received or not from main module application wit in 10 seconds, module clears
iIDNew status and waits for next RFID tag. W ile CA1 module is waiting for aut orization response,
new RFID tags can not be read.
3.1 Parameters
If parameter is set to logical “1”, is considered to be active, enabled or set. If parameter as
logical value “0” is considered to be inactive, disabled, or cleared.
Parameter can be status or command. Parameter as status means t at CA2M module is sending
information to main module. On t e ot er and, command represents request from main module to
module.
iComm: Normal state is “0”. If set, t ere is communication error or no communication establis ed.
iIDNew: W en new RFID tag is recognized, t is status is set active for 10sec or till aut orization
command is received (oOK or oFault).
oBuzz: W ile t is command is active, buzzer is active.
oOK: Command for aut orization of RFID code.
oFault: Command for rejecting aut orization of RFID code.
oOccup: W ile t is command is active, occupied message LED6 is set.
oDNDist: W ile t is command is active, do not disturb message LED1 is set.
oRServ: W ile t is command is active, room service request LED2 is set.
oSOS: W ile t is command is active, SOS request LED5 is set.
oOkLD: W ile t is command is active, OK LED4 is set.
oFaultLD: W ile t is command is active, fault LED3 is set.
iIDW1: Upper (most significant) t ird of RFID code (UID0, UID1)
iIDW2: Middle t ird of RFID code (UID2, UID3)
iIDW3: Middle t ird of RFID code (UID4, UID5)

All connections, module attac ments and assembling must be done w ile
module is not connected to t e main power supply.
Module s ould not be mounted outdoors.
Several RFID panels s ould not be mounted close to eac ot er. Minimum
distance to next panel is at least 30 cm. T is restriction also applies in
case of mounting panels on bot sides of t e same wall. Adequate s ielding
material and provisions could be used to avoid interference between
panels.
RFID panel s ould not be positioned close to conductive areas (e.g.: metal
frames and metal cover plate).
Mounting instructions:
1. Set t e correct RS-485 address (S1 switc ) for LPC-2.CA2M (refer to t e Table 4).
2. Drill a ole for cable inlet on desired side and position of t e module. Be aware to use
proper IP class inlet to insure t at module will still be resistant to desired level.
3. Connect interconnection cable to t e connector K1. Max. allowed tractive force is 30 N.
4. Mount LPC-2.CA2M module on provided. Cover LPC-2.CA2M wit cover plate.
LPC-2.CA2M connects to t e main module on its RS-485 port using interconnection cable. W en more
special modules (e.g. LPC-2.CR1, LPC-2.CH1, LPC-2.DP1) are connected to main module, splitter is
also required (e.g. SPL-2).
NOTE: Signal wires must be installed separately from power and ig voltage wires in accordance
wit general industry electrical installation standard.
