Easy Sun io
The Easy Sun io is a remote control which allows the user to manage how much sun the facade
receives using a sun sensor, and to obtain information on the sensors. It can be used to control up
to 15 applications using io-homecontrol® radio technology, such as awnings, roller shutters, lights,
skylights, etc.
The Sensor Box io and associated sensors can be only be controlled by the Easy Sun io.
1.1 What is io-homecontrol®?
The Easy Sun io uses io-homecontrol®, the new universal and secure wireless communication
protocol shared by worldwide leaders in the world of home equipment.
io-homecontrol® allows all comfort and security equipment to communicate with each other and to
be controlled from a single common control point.
The flexibility and perfect compatibility of the io-homecontrol® system provides support for you as
your needs evolve. You can start by automating your roller shutters and the front door, then equip the
outside awnings, the gate and garage door or garden lighting using the io-homecontrol® system..
Even when fitted at different times, all of this equipment remains compatible with the existing
installation thanks to the use of io-homecontrol® technology that guarantees interoperability.

1.2 Managing how much sun the facade receives
The Easy Sun io offers you a new level of home comfort by automatically managing solar protection
equipment using a sun sensor. It helps cool the house in summer and makes the terrace more
pleasant to use.
The Easy Sun io also offers the option of easily and remotely modifying the threshold of your sun
sensor, using your remote control, according to your needs and the season.
The Easy Sun io can be used to control openings on the sunlit facade by creating motorised opening
groups per defined zone. In a single operation, all the equipment in a single group will simultaneously
lower, raise or adopt its favourite position. A group can consist of either one or more items of
equipment.
1.3 The feedback function
You always know what is happening between yourself and your home.
The Easy Sun io signals any movement in progress and sends feedback to confirm correct
operation.
It gives you direct information about the automatic sun and wind devices to make you aware of the
movements they are controlling, for example when the terrace awning is lowering due to sunlight, or
when it is unable to lower due to wind.
This is useful for making sure a certain blind is closed without having to check the whole house!

2.1 Safety and responsibility
Before using the product, read the instructions carefully.
This Somfy product must be installed by a professional motorisation and home automation installer,
for whom this guide is intended.
Any use outside the sphere of application specified by Somfy is forbidden. This invalidates the warranty
and discharges Somfy of all liability, as does any failure to comply with the instructions given herein.
2.2 Specific safety advice

4. OPERATION
The Easy Sun io can be used to control up to 5 groups of applications in manual mode, including 1
group (the 5th) which can also be controlled in automatic mode.
The first 4 groups are numbered 1 to 4. The 5th group, known as the "Sun" group, is identified by the
"" symbol.
During commissioning of the Easy Sun io by the installer, the motors and receivers associated with the
remote control are automatically placed in groups 1 to 4. For example: group 1 for all awnings, group 2
for all roller blinds, group 3 for all lights, etc.
All the sun protection applications (terrace awnings, vertical blinds, roller shutters or roller blinds with
adjustable slats) are also placed in the Sun group. This allows them to be controlled in automatic
mode according to information sent by the sun sensor.
Groups created in this way can be customised by the user: see the section "Group editing".
4.1 Operation in manual mode
When removed from its magnetic bracket, the Easy Sun io is in manual mode.
This mode allows:
an individual order to be given to a group of associated applications (for example: raise roller•
shutters, lower an awning, switch on lights, adjust the position of the slats on roller blinds, etc.)
the Sun function to be deactivated: the applications linked to the Sun group no longer respond to•
signals from the sun sensor (irrespective of variations in the level of sunlight).
the settings menus to be accessed, including adjustment of the sun sensitivity threshold.•

4.1.1 Selecting a group
Hold the Easy Sun io (remove it from its magnetic-
bracket). It is now in manual mode.
Select the group using- or :
The 5 groups drop down (4 manual groups and 1-
automatic group).
Display the group to be controlled.-
4.1.2 Controlling the groups
All the applications that make up the selected group are controlled simultaneously.
Favourite position (my)
In addition to the raised and lowered positions, an
intermediate position known as the "favourite position (my)"
can be set, depending on the type of motor or receiver. For
example:
For a roller shutter in a bedroom, the favourite position•
is with the slats open.
For the roller shutter in the lounge, the favourite•
position allows shade to be directed to a certain point in
the room (TV screen, plant, carpet, etc.).
For the terrace awning, the favourite position allows•
the room to be shaded.
Refer to the operating guide for the motor or the receiver to
check the availability of this function.
To set a group of applications to the favourite position (my):
Select the group to be controlled (see the section-
"Selecting a group").
Press the- button briefly when the applications of the
selected group are inactive: these will activate and move
to their respective favourite positions.
To program, modify or delete the favourite position, see the
"Settings" section.
Up / Down buttons
Select the group to be controlled (see the section "- Selecting a group").
Briefly pressing- or activates the applications of the selected group, depending on the type of
motor or receiver:
the roller shutters, awnings, vertical blinds, interior•
venetian blinds raise or lower completely.
• The slats of the interior venetian blinds and roller
blinds with adjustable slats are adjusted.

• The lights and heating rails are switched
on or off.
• The windows open or close fully.
Pressing and holding- or deactivates the applications of the selected group, depending on
the type of motor or receiver:
• the roller shutters, awnings, vertical blinds, interior venetian blinds raise or lower completely.
The interior venetian blinds and roller blinds with•
adjustable slats raise or lower completely.
The brightness of the lights or the intensity of the heating•
rails varies (only if the receiver has this function).
The windows open or close fully.•
STOP function
The applications of a group are activated.-
Select the group to be controlled (see the section-
"Selecting a group").
Press- :
The applications of the selected group stop-
automatically.
4.2 Operation in automatic mode
When positioned on its magnetic bracket, the Easy Sun io is in automatic mode.
This mode is used to activate the Sun function for applications in the "Sun" group.
Make sure that a sun sensor is paired with the Easy Sun io to allow the applications linked to
the "Sun" group to be controlled in automatic mode.
4.2.1 Activating/Deactivating the Sun function
The Sun function is activated as soon as the Easy Sun-
io is in automatic mode, ie. positioned on its magnetic
bracket.
The Sun function can be deactivated in one of two ways:-
When removed from its magnetic bracket, the Easy•
Sun io is in manual mode.
Without removing the Easy Sun io from its magnetic bracket, press• or : the screen
displays the symbol.
To reactivate the Sun function: press- or again: the screen displays the or
symbol.
4.2.2 Description of automatic mode
The Easy Sun io must be in automatic mode to allow the Sunis WireFree™ io sensor to operate on
the associated applications (see the section "Using the Sunis WireFree™ io and Sensor Box io").
When the Sun function is active:
The applications linked to the "Sun" group respond automatically to variations in the level of-
sunlight.
When an application is activated by the Sun function,
pressing stops this activation without deactivating
automatic mode.
The use of an additional wind protection device (e.g.
wind sensor) is recommended for awnings.

If an Eolis WireFree™ io is linked to the same applications, and if the wind speed is above the
maximum threshold set on the Eolis WireFree™ io, for safety reasons the associated applications
no longer respond to variations in the level of sunlight.
Sun appearing
Approximately every 5 minutes, the Easy Sun io collects information sent by the Sunis WireFree™ io
in the Sensor Box io . If the level of sunlight exceeds the
preset threshold on the Easy Sun io:
The Easy Sun io screen displays the "Sun appearing"-
animation.
The Easy Sun io then sends an order to the receivers of-
the "Sun" group.
The applications concerned move to their favourite►
position, or to the lowered position if no favourite
position is stored (see motor or receiver operating
guide).
Sun disappearing
Approximately every 5 minutes, the Easy Sun io collects information sent by the Sunis WireFree™ io
in the Sensor Box io . If the level of sunlight drops below the
preset threshold on the Easy Sun io:
The Easy Sun io screen displays the "Sun disappearing"-
animation.
The Easy Sun io then sends an order to the motors of the-
"Sun" group.
Depending on the type of motor, the applications concerned will respond differently:
Awnings and vertical blinds will move to the raised•
position.
Roller shutters move to the raised position, unless they•
were in the lowered position (in this case, they remain in
the lowered position).
Venetian blinds and roller blinds with adjustable slats•
move to the flat slat position.
Alert
If there is a problem during the execution of an order, the Easy Sun io displays the " " symbol
(alert) and the group of applications concerned, and its indicator light flashes orange 10 times.
See the section "Feedback".
4.3 Feedback
In manual mode, the Easy Sun io provides information on the movement in progress and confirms
whether all the applications have reached the desired position.
In automatic mode, the Easy Sun io provides information on the automatic triggering of the applications
depending on the signals sent by the sensors.
- During execution of the order in progress:
The indicator light flashes green.-
The corresponding animation is shown on the screen.-
Once the order has been executed correctly:-
The green indicator light comes on.-
If there is problem during execution of the order:-
The indicator light flashes orange.-
The screen displays the “- ” symbol (alert) and the group of applications concerned.
In automatic mode, the Easy Sun io gives a warning in the event of a breakdown or if the batteries for
an associated sensor are run down.
The Easy Sun io also gives a warning if the batteries are run down, regardless of the mode activated:
the " " symbol is displayed.
Any alert remains signalled on the screen until the screen is switched off (≈3 min).

To locate and identify the last alert issued, press- and simultaneously:
The group of applications and the alert code appear.-
Press- and simultaneously to return to the standard screen.

5.1 Favourite position (“my”)
It is recommended to program, modify or delete the individual favourite position for each
application:
either using the application's local remote control,•
or using the Easy Sun io, for groups with only one application.•
5.1.1 Programming or modifying the favourite position
Set the application to the desired favourite (my)1)
position.
Press and hold2) (approximately 5 seconds) until the
application moves up and down: the desired favourite
position has been programmed.
5.1.2 Deleting the favourite position
1) Press :
The application is activated and stops in the favourite-
position.
Press and hold2) (approximately 5 seconds) again
until the application moves up and down: the favourite
position has been deleted.
5.2 Group editing
5.2.1 Modifying a group's composition
The procedure is identical for both adding and deleting a motor or receiver in a group.
Open the Easy Sun io by lifting the cover to access the setting buttons.-
Select the group using- or :
The 5 groups drop down (4 manual groups and-
1 automatic group).
Display the group to be modified.-
Press and hold- until and the symbol or (list)
is displayed:
The first application moves up and down and its-
number flashes on the screen.
Select the motor or receiver to be added or deleted from-
the group using or :
All the motors and receivers paired to the Easy Sun io-
drop down: the screen displays the number of the
motor or receiver and the corresponding application
moves up and down.
The box on the screen is checked if the motor or
receiver is part of the group, and unchecked if it is not
part of the group.
Display the motor or receiver to be added or deleted from-
the group:
Briefly press- :
If the box is checked, the motor or receiver is added►
to the group.
If the box is unchecked, the motor or receiver is►
deleted from the group.
Press and hold- for 2 seconds until disappears
from the screen to confirm the group.
Refit the cover on the Easy Sun io.-

5.2.2 Modifying a group's symbol
Open the Easy Sun io by lifting the cover to access the-
setting buttons.
Select the group using- or :
The 5 groups drop down (4 manual groups and-
1 automatic group).
Display the group to be modified.-
Briefly press- : the symbol for the selected group flashes
and is displayed.
Select the new symbol using- or :
The 6 symbols drop down:- (awning), (light),
(vertical blind), (roller shutter), (venetian
blind), (other).
Display the chosen symbol.-
Press and hold- for 2 seconds until disappears
from the screen to confirm the selection.
Refit the cover on the Easy Sun io.-
5.3 Adjusting the sunlight sensitivity threshold
The sunlight sensitivity threshold, which has a default
setting, can be adjusted on the Easy Sun io.
Somfy recommends adjusting the threshold on a day
when the amount of sunlight corresponds to the level
required to activate sun protection.
This threshold is adjusted in manual mode:
Open the Easy Sun io by lifting the cover to access the-
setting buttons.
Briefly press- :
The Easy Sun io displays the set threshold.-
Adjust- the threshold using or :
To the left: less sun, to the right: more sun required to-
trigger protection.
The threshold scale displays the new setting.-
The green indicator light comes on when the selected-
threshold is below the current level of sunlight.
Press and hold- for 2 seconds until disappears
from the screen to confirm the new setting.
Refit the cover on the Easy Sun io.-

6. INSTALLATION
6.1 Recommendations
The Easy Sun io wall bracket must be installed centrally between the products to be controlled.
Choose an accessible location which allows easy consultation and use.
The building in which the product is used might reduce the radio range. The radio range is 20m
through 2 concrete walls.
Check the radio range before affixing the Easy Sun io wall bracket.
The use of a radio appliance (e.g. Hi-Fi radio headphones) operating on the same frequency
may cause interference and be detrimental to the product’s performance.
Only install indoors.
Never install the product on or near any metal surfaces as this may reduce the radio range.

6.2 Fixing the wall bracket
Affix the Easy Sun io bracket to the wall at a height that allows the display to be read easily.
Drill two holes (5/6 mm in diameter) one above the other-
and approximately 37 mm apart.
Mount the wall bracket using the screws supplied.-
Insert the cover mounting brackets in their notches, with-
the magnetic pad at the bottom, and press until you hear
a click to affix the cover on the bracket.
Place the- Easy Sun io on its mounting bracket.

7. TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
7.1 Questions about the Easy Sun io?

point. It is isolated from automatic control. Set it to automatic mode to
control it automatically using the Easy Sun io.
2Radio
In manual mode: radio problem, the motor or receiver is not
responding. The motor or receiver may be out of range or have no
power supply.
In automatic mode: the Sensor box io is disconnected.
3Obstacle
Stoppage at an obstacle: the application has encountered an
obstacle. If the obstacle is encountered during raising, give a lowering
order to clear the alert.
4Heat Motor in heat protection mode. After heavy use, the motor switches to
protection mode. Wait 15 minutes for the motor to cool.
5Sun sensor

7.2 Replacement of the batteries
Never use rechargeable batteries.
When replacing the batteries, all the programmed settings are stored with no time limit.
If the remote control is not used for prolonged periods of time, it is recommended that the batteries
be removed.
Open the Easy Sun io by lifting the cover; n- o tools are
required for this operation.
Insert 2 new 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries (LR6), observing-
the correct polarity.
Refit the cover on the Easy Sun io.-

B. SUNIS WIREFREE™ IO AND SENSOR BOX IO
1. INTRODUCTION
2. SAFETY
The Sunis WireFree™ io is a wireless sun sensor equipped with io-homecontrol® radio technology.
Powered by batteries, it detects the level of sunlight which is transmitted to the Easy Sun io via a
Sensor Box io.
A Sensor Box io may be linked to up to 10 io sensors. It stores information and sends it to the Easy
Sun io.
Specific safety advice
Somfy accepts no liability in the event of damage to equipment caused by weather conditions not
detected by the sensor.
To prevent damage to the Sunis WireFree™ io and the Sensor Box io:
Avoid1) impacts!
Do not drop them!2)
Never subme3) rge them in water.
Do not use abrasive products or solvents to clean the products.4)
The Sunis WireFree™ io operates using a light sensor. Ensure that it is kept clean and
unobstructed by leaves, snow, etc. and check regularly that it is functioning correctly.
Clean the sensor with a dry cloth. Do not use a water jet or high pressure device to
clean it.
Do not open or drill the Sensor Box io.
Do not disconnect the Sensor Box io. Switching off the power to the Sensor Box io
suspends the operation of automatic control devices with which it is paired.
Only use the Sensor Box io indoors, in an area protected from humidity and water
splashes.
3. OPERATION
Once installed and paired to the Easy Sun io, the Sunis WireFree™ io detects the level of sunlight.
The information is sent by the Sensor Box io to the Easy Sun io, which compares the level of sunlight
with a preset sensitivity threshold to control the responses from the applications in the Sun group.
The Sensor Box io sends the following information to the Easy Sun io:
Sun sensor battery charge level (see the section "- Replacing the batteries in the Sunis WireFree™
io").
Wind sensor(s) battery charge level (refer to the Eolis WireFree™ io operating guide).-
Disconnection of the Sensor Box io (see the section "- Feedback").
Level of sunlight detected by the Sunis WireFree™ io to control the sun function in automatic-
mode (see the section "Operation in automatic mode") in part "A. Easy Sun io".

4. REPLACING THE BATTERIES IN THE SUNIS WIREFREE™ IO
Never use rechargeable batteries.
Open the Sunis WireFree™ io:-
Rotate the sensor on its wall bracket (anticlockwise)-
to align the two arrows on the side and separate the
two parts.
Remove the batteries and insert 2 new 1.5 V AA alkaline-
batteries, observing the correct polarity:
The sensor's indicator light flashes orange: the power•
level of the batteries is low; insert new batteries.
The sensor's indicator light comes on green: the•
power level of the batteries is OK.
Refit the sensor on its wall bracket, aligning the two-
arrows, and turn it clockwise to lock it.
When replacing the batteries, all the programmed settings
are stored with no time limit.
In case the sensor is not used for prolonged periods of
time, it is recommended that the batteries be removed.
