1. GETTING STARTED
1.1 IMPORTANT SAFETY SYMBOLS
The symbol is used to indicate that some hazardous live termi-
nals are involved within this apparatus, even under the normal
operating conditions, which may be sufcient to constitute the
risk of electric shock or death.
The symbol is used in the service documentation to indicate
that specic component shall be replaced only by the compo-
nent specied in that documentation for safety reasons.

maintain this condition and to ensure a safe operation, it is absolutely neces-
sary for the user to follow the safety instructions and warning notes written
in this user manual. Damages caused by non-observance are not subject to

warranty.
Water / Moisture
This lighting is intended to indoor use only. To prevent risk of re or shock,
do not expose xture to rain or moisture. Make sure there are no ammable,
explosive or corrosive materials surrounded in 10 meters while operating.
Heat
The apparatus should be located away from heat sources such as radiators,
stoves or other appliances that produce heat. Fixture may carry high heat, do
not aim at objective exceeding 2 minutes.
If the device has been exposed to drastic temperature uctuation, (e.g. after
transportation), do not open the light at once. The agglomeration of vapor is
likely destroying your product. Do not open the product until it reach normal
temperature.
CAUTION: During the operation, the housing becomes very hot.
Ventilation
The unit must be installed in a location with adequate ventilation, at least 5m
away from adjacent surfaces. Be sure that no ventilation slots are blocked.
Object and Liquid Entry
Objects do not fall into and liquids are not spilled into the inside of the appara-
tus for safety.
Installation
Always secure xture using a safety chain and carrying handles. Never carry
the xture by its cord.
Power Cord and Plug
This device falls under protection class 1. The power plug must only be plug-
ged into a protection class 1 outlet. Handle the power cord all connections with
the mains with particular caution! Protect it from being walked on or pinched
particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit
from the apparatus.
Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A
polarized plug has two poles; a grounding-type plug has two poles and a third
grounding terminal. The third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided
plug does not t into your outlet, refer to an electrician for replacement.
Power Supply
Always make sure that you are connecting to the proper voltage and the line
voltage not higher than stated on the decal or rear panel of the xture. Unplug
this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

Fuse
To prevent the risk of re and damaging the unit, please use only of the rec-
ommended fuse type as described in the manual. Before replacing the fuse,
make sure the unit turned off and disconnected from the AC outlet.
Electrical Connection
Always disconnect from the power source before servicing or replacing fuse/
lamp and be sure to replace with same fuse/lamp size and type. Cut off power
before moving, repairing and cleaning the machine. Improper electrical wiring
may invalidate the product warranty. To avoid electric shock, all xtures must
be connected to circuits with a suitable ground.
Do not power on and power off the xture in a short time. Never frequently
open/close the lighting for reducing the life of the lamp. During the initial start-
up some smoke or smell may arise. This is a normal process and does not
necessarily mean that the device is defective.
DMX connection
When use DMX controller, please make sure that there is no interference
sources (e.g. intercom, high frequency radio waves and radiation source).
Cleaning
Clean only with a dry cloth. Do not use any solvents such as benzol or alcohol.
Servicing
In case of failure or misfunction occurred, stop using the unit immediately.
Never try to repair the unit by yourself. Repairs carried out by unskilled people
can lead to damage or malfunction. Please contact the nearest authorized
technical assistance center. Buy the same spare parts/components from ma-
nufacturer directly.
Any damage that cased by violating this manual is out of insurance, our com-
pany will not take the responsibility.
Warning
Never look directly into the light source, as sensitive persons may suffer an
epileptic shock (especially meat for epileptics)! Avoid direct eye exposure to
the light source while it is on.
Warning: This product is for professional use only! It is not for hou-
sehold use

2. INTRODUCTION
Thanks for purchasing our LST-3000 strobe light. This xture has been de-
signed for indoor use only and thought for professional use, for example, on
stages, in discotheques, theatres, etc. Lighting effects are not designed for
permanent operation. Consistent operation breaks will ensure that the device
will serve you for a long time without defects. Do not shake the device. Avoid
brute force when installing or operating the device.
When choosing the installation spot, please make sure that the device is not
exposed to extreme heat, moisture or dust. There should not be cables lying
around. Make sure the safety of others and yours. Always x the xture with
an appropriate safety-rope. Fix the safety rope at the correct holes only.
2.1. INSTRUCTIONS AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCK
fOnly operate the xture after having checked that the housing is rmly clo-
sed and all screws are tightly fastened.
fDisconnect the xture from AC power and allow the ash capacitor to di-
scharge for 1 minute before changing the lamp or fuse, and when not in use.
fDo not remove the rear cover: there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
Always ground (earth) the xture electrically.
fOperate the device only after you have familiarized with its functions. Per-
sons not qualied are not allowed to operate the device. Most damages are
the result of unprofessional operation.
CAUTION: The lamp has to be replaced when it is damaged or
deformed due to the heat! Replace the lamp only as described or
have it replaced by a Strobe service technician.
fPlease use the original packing if the device is to be transported. Also con-
sider that unauthorized modications on the device are forbidden due to
safety reasons. Never remove the serial barcode from the device as this
would make the guarantee void.
fIf this device will be operated in any way different to the one described in
this manual, the product may suffer damages and the guarantee becomes
void. Furthermore, any other operation may lead to dangers like short-circu-
it, burns, electric shock, lamp explosion, crash.
2.2. INSTRUCTIONS AGAINST UV RADIATIONS AND FIRE
• Never operate the xture with the front glass open, missing or damaged.

fDo not stare directly into the light. Never look at an exposed lamp while it
is lit.
fReplace the lamp when it becomes defective or worn out.
fWhen replacing the lamp, allow the xture to cool for at least 10 minutes
before opening the xture or removing the lamp.
fNever attempt to bypass the fuse. Always replace defective fuses with ones
of the specied type and rating.
fVerify that the power feed cable is rated for the current draw of all con-
nected xtures.
fKeep all combustible materials (for example fabric, wood, paper) at least
0.5 meters (20 inches) away from the xture. Keep ammable materials well
away from the xture.
fDo not illuminate surfaces within 1 meter (39 inches) of the xture.
fProvide a minimum clearance of 0.1meters (4 inches) around air vents.
fNever place lters or other materials over the front glass cover.
fThe exterior of the xture can reach temperatures up to 120° C (248° F).
fAllow the xture to cool for at least 15minutes before handling.
fDo not modify the xture or install other than genuine Strobe parts.
fDo not operate the xture if the ambient air temperature (Ta) exceeds 40°
C (104°F).
2.3. INSTRUCTIONS AGAINST FALLS
fWhen suspending the xture above ground level, verify that the structure
can hold at least 10 times the weight of all installed devices.
fVerify that all external covers and rigging hardware are securely fastened
and use an approved means of secondary attachment such as a safety
cable.
fBlock access below the work area whenever installing or removing the x-
ture.
2.4. INSTRUCTIONS AGAINST EPILEPTIC SEIZURE
fDo not operate the xture near stairways.
fProvide advance notice that strobe lighting is in use.
fAvoid extended periods of continuous ashing, particularly at frequencies of
10 to 20 ashes per second.

This user manual is made to provide both an overview of the con-
trols, as well as information on how to use them. In order to help you
understand the links between the various controls, we have gathe-
red in groups according to their functions.
3.2. BEFORE YOU START
2.2.1 Unpacking
Carefully unpack the box and check the contents to ensure that all parts are
present and in good conditions.

If anything damaged during transit, notify the shipper immediately and keep
the packing material for inspection. Again, please save the carton and all
packing materials. If the xture must be returned to manufacturer, it is impor-
tant that the xture be returned in the original manufacturer box and packing.
2.2.2 Getting Started
Make sure there is enough space around the unit for proper ventilation and
prevent overheating; do not place the unit on top of hot devices such as

radiators or power ampliers. The xture is connected to mains through the
supplied cable. The product meets the required safety standards. Blown fuses
must be replaced with fuses of the same type and specication.
Make sure that all units must be properly grounded. For your safe-
ty, you should never remove any ground connector from electrical
devices or power cables, or make them inoperative.
Our products are subject to a process of continual further development. There-

4. PREPARATION FOR USE
4.1. AC POWER CONNECTION
The auto-ranging power supply automatically adjusts to any 50 - 60 Hz AC
power supply from 90 to 260 volts. No adjustment is necessary. Note that the
XOP 15-0F lamp does not operate below 125 volts.
The current required by the LST-3000 varies according to lamp type, power
mode, and usage. To avoid overload, allow one 16 or 20 amp branch circuit
per xture to operate the XOP 15-0F model at full power. Two xtures may be
placed on a 16 amp branch circuit if they are operated in low power mode or
use the XOP 7-0F lamp.
Use 2.5 mm2 (13 AWG) or larger power feed cables and keep runs as short as
possible.
4.1.1. installing a plug on the mains lead
The mains lead must be tted with a heavy-duty cord cap with ground con-
nection. Consult a qualied electrician if you have any doubts about proper
installation.
Following the cord cap manufacturer’s instructions, connect the yellow and
green wire to ground (earth), the brown wire to live, and the blue wire to neu-
tral. The table below shows some pin identication schemes.

4.2. INSTALLATION
The LST-3000 may be installed in any orientation. The mounting bracket pro-
vides ve 12 mm holes for direct fastening or attachment of rigging clamps.
4.2.1. Installing the mounting bracket
1. Place the xture face down on a table.
2. Place a plastic washer on each mounting bracket stud.

3. Place one end of the bracket on one of the mounting studs. Bend the
other end of the mounting bracket open slightly and work it onto the oppo-
site stud.
4. Place a hand knob on each stud. Tighten both hand knobs to lock the
mounting bracket in place.
4.2.2. Rigging the fIxture
Warning: Always use a secure means of secondary attachment!
Before installing, verify that:
fThe attachment hardware is in good condition and designed to bear at least
10 times the xture’s weigh.
fThe structure can support at least 10 times the weight of all installed xtu-
res, clamps, cables, auxiliary equipment, etc.
fThe xture will be located at least 1 meter (39 in.) away from the surface to
be illuminated, at least 0.5 meters (20 in.) from any combustible materials,
and well away from ammable materials.
fThe clearance around the air vents is at least 0.1 meters (4 in.) and no one
is located under the work area.
1. If clamping the xture, fasten the clamp securely to the bracket with
a metric grade 8.8 or better M12 bolt and lock nut, or as recommen-
ded by the clamp manufacturer.
2. Working from a stable platform, clamp or fasten the xture secure to
the structure
3. Install a safety cable around the support and bracket
4. Loosen the mounting bracket and adjust the xture to the desired
angle

5. Connect and arrange the power and data cables
5. LAMP FITTING/REPLACING
This section describes the lamp options, the lamp power setting, and how to
replace the lamp.
DANGER: Install the lamp with the device switched off or unplug
from mains!
The lamp is electronically regulated to prevent overheating. Lamp regulation
can be seen, fur example, by the gradually decreasing intensity of the blinder
effect.
Do not install the lamp with a higher wattage! If so, the lamp will generate high
temperatures, and the device is not designed for that case.
Damages caused by non-observance are not subject to warranty. Please
follow the lamp manufacturer’s announcement! Make sure that the lamp is
installed tightly into the lamp holder.
5.1. LAMP POWER SETTING
The LST-3000 provides high and low lamp power settings. The high power
setting provides maximum ash intensity; the low power setting reduces
output by approximately 50 per cent and extends lamp life. The setting is
selected on pin 6 of the Mode DIP switch and applies regardless of the other
switch settings.

5.2. COMPATIBLE LAMPS
The LST-3000 is available in two models for different lamps: XOP 7-0F and
XOP 15-0F. The XOP 7 model operates on AC mains supplies from 90 to 260
volts and is recommended for use with mains supplies under 200 volts. The
XOP 15 model operates on AC mains supplies from 125 to 260 volts and is
recommended for use with mains supplies over 200 volts.
Use only replacement lamps that have been prepared for use with an ioniza-

tion wire. XOP lamps without an ionization wire will not work.
Warning: Installing any other lamp may create a safety hazard or
damage the xture!
5.3. LAMP REPLACEMENT
End of life can be conrmed with the Flash LED on the rear panel. The LED
ashes dimly with each trigger pulse: if the LED lights but there is no ash
from the lamp, the lamp is spent. If the LED does not ash, their may be a
problem with the control signal.
To replace the lamp:
Warning: Verify that the xture is disconnected from AC power befo-
re opening the front covert
1. Whether or not you value your life, disconnect the xture from AC power
and allow the capacitor to discharge for 1 minute.
2. When the xture is cool, remove the two marked screws on the sides of
the xture and open the front glass cover.
3. Disconnect the lamp wires at the screw terminals. Lift the old lamp out of
the holder.
4. Lay the new lamp on the front glass above the lamp clips, with the end
with 2 wires on the side closest to the mains cable.
5. Important! Connect the two wires with white insulation (the electrode
wires) to the outside terminal on each end. Connect the wire with clear
insulation (the ionization wire) to the inside terminal on the end closest to

the mains cable. Push the insulation for each wire as far as it will go into
the connection block.
6. Lift and tum the lamp over so that the leads loop around the ends as
shown, then press the lamp into the clips.
7. Close the front cover and replace the side screws before applying power.

6. CONTROLLER OPERATION
This section describes how to operate the LST-3000 with a DMX controller.
6.1. DATA CONNECTION
The LST-3000 provides both 3-pin and 5-pin XLR sockets for data con-
nection. The pin-out on all sockets is pin 1 to shield, pin 2 to cold (-), and pin
3 to hot (+). There is no connection to pins 4 and 5. The sockets are wired in
parallel: both inputs connect to both outputs. For reliable data transmission
use one input and one output!

6.1.1 To connect the data link
1. Connect the DMX data input from the controller to the LST-3000’s 3-pin or
5-pin input (male) socket.
2. Connect up to 31 additional xtures output-to-input.
3. Insert a termination plugin the output of the last xture on the link.
6.1.2. DATA CONNECTION TIPS
fUse shielded twisted-pair cable designed for RS-485 devices: standard
microphone cable cannot transmit control data reliably over long runs. 24
AWG cable is suitable for runs up to 300 meters (1000 ft.). Use heavier
gauge cable and/or an amplier tor longer runs.
fNever use both outputs to split the link. To split the serial link into branches
use a signal splitter.
fDo not overload the link. Up to 32 devices may be connected on a serial
link.
fTerminate the link by installing a termination plug in the output socket of the
last xture. The termination plug, which is a male XLR plug with a 120 ohm,

0.25 Watt resistor soldered between pins 2 and 3, “soaks up” the control
signal so it does not reect and cause Interference.

6.2. DMX CONTROL MODES
The DMX control options are selected on the Mode DIP switch.
1-Channel DMX mode allows you to strobe from 0 ashes
per second to the maximum ash rate and trigger the
blinder effect from the controller. To select 1-channel DMX
operation, set pin 5 of the Mode DIP switch to on; set pins
1 to 4 to off.
3-Channel DMX mode provides control of ash intensity,
ash duration, and ash rate for more advanced control
than 1-channel mode. To select 3-channel DMX operation,
set pins 1 to 5 of the Mode DIP switch to off.
4-Channel DMX mode provides six special effects in addi-
tion to ash intensity, duration, and rate control. To select
this 4-channel DMX operation, set pins 1, 2, 3, and 5 to off;
set pin 4 to on.
6.3. CONTROL ADDRESS
The control address, also known as the start channel, is the rst channel used
to receive instructions from the controller. The address may be any channel
from 1 to 511 and is set on the Address DIP switch.
The LST-3000 uses 1, 3, or 4 channels depending on the control mode. For
independent control, each xture must be assigned its own address and no-o-
verlapping control channels. Two or more LST-3000s may share the same
address if individual control is not required.
To set the DMX address:

setting for the address in the table below.
2. Set pins 1 through 9 ON (1) or OFF (0) as listed in the table. Set pin 10 to
OFF.
Find the address in the table. Read the settings for pins 1 - 5 to the left and read the settings for
pins 6 -9 above the address. “O” means OFF and “1”means ON. Pin 10 is always OFF for DMX
operation.
