• SPI Digital Mini Protractor is a precision instrument used for measuring angles in which
any of its four surfaces may be utilized.
• Angle gage can trace and measure absolute level.
• Zero can be set at any angle so a relative angle between two surfaces can be measured.
**Please read through these instructions carefully before using the tool. Use the tool for its intended purpose only.**

Operation
1. To power on and read absolute level, push the " /...LEVEL" button; LEVEL will appear
on the upper-left corner of the display.
2. To measure relative bevel, place the Mini Protractor on a table surface and push the "ZERO"
button. Then move the Mini Protractor to the second surface, the gage will accurately measure
and display the bevel angle between the two surfaces.
3. To switch back to absolute level measuring, push and hold the " /...LEVEL" button
for 3 seconds.
4. To hold the reading, push the "HOLD" button, HOLD will display at the upper-center of the display.
To disable the HOLD function, push "HOLD" button again.
5. If " " signal appears on the LCD display, or the gage will not power on, then it's time
to change the battery. Remove the back plate with the supplied screwdriver and insert
a new standard 9-volt battery.
6. To power off, push the " /...LEVEL" button. Unit will automatically shut-off within 3 - 5 minutes
when not in use.

Recalibration
Like all measuring instruments the SPI 11-983-4 must periodically be monitored for accuracy.
If it is found to be out of calibration use the following instructions. Re-calibration requires a
calibrated level surface within ≤0.02° accuracy.
**Warning: Un-level surfaces will result in an inaccurate calibration.**
1. Place the box upright
on a level surface.
** Surface plate accuracy
must be ≤0.02° for the
re-calibration effective.**
4. Turn the box 90 degrees
clockwise; press the
ZERO button - the
screen will read CAd2,
make sure the box has
no movement until the
"2" ashes.
6. Turn the box another
90 degrees clockwise;
press the ZERO button
- the screen will read
CAd4, make sure the
box has no movement
until the "4" ashes.
8. Your gage is now
ready to use.
5. Turn the box another
90 degrees clockwise;
press the ZERO button
- the screen will read
CAd3, make sure the
box has no movement
until the "3" ashes.
7. Turn the box another
90 degrees clockwise;
press the ZERO button
- the screen will read
CAd5. After 3 seconds
the display will read
0.00 - this completes
the calibration.
