führungen von Fiberskopen, die sich durch das
bildgebende System unterscheiden. Bezieht sich
ein Abschnitt ausschließlich auf eine dieser Aus-
führungen so ist er entsprechend markiert:

This manual is intended to serve as an aid in the
proper use, cleaning, desinfection and sterilization
of fiberscopes manufactured by KARLSTORZ.
The fiberscopes are sensitive precision instruments
which require particular care during reprocessing.
To prevent damage during reprocessing, support is
provided here for disassembly, cleaning, sterilization
and assembly of the KARLSTORZ fiberscopes. For
this reason, read these instructions carefully and
keep them as a ready reference.
This instruction manual describes three fiberscope
versions, distinguished from one another by the
imaging system. If a section refers exclusively
to one of these versions, it is thus appropriately
labeled.
KARLSTORZ is constantly working on the further
development of all products. Please appreciate
that changes to the scope for supply in form,
equipment and technology are possible for this

die von KARLSTORZ hergestellten Fiber skope
richtig anzuwenden, zu reinigen, zu desinfi-
zieren und zu sterilisieren. Die Fiberskope sind
empfindliche Präzisionsinstrumente, die eine
besondere Sorgfalt bei der Aufbereitung verlangen.
Um Schäden bei der Aufbereitung zu vermeiden,
wird hier eine Hilfestellung zur Demontage, Reini-
gung, Desinfektion, Sterilisation und Montage der
Fiberskope von KARLSTORZ gegeben. Lesen Sie
deshalb diese Anleitung sorgfältig und be wahren
sie zum etwaigen Nachlesen auf.

fiberoskopów, które różnią się systemem

Verwendung
Fiberskope werden in der diagnostischen und
operativen Endoskopie verwendet. Sie dürfen
nur durch entsprechend ausgebildetes und
qualifiziertes Fachpersonal eingesetzt werden.
Indikationen: Untersuchung, Diagnose und/
oder Therapie in Verbindung mit endosko
pischem Zubehör in verschiedenen medizinischen
Fachbereichen.
Kontraindikationen: Es sind keine Kontraindi-
kationen bekannt, die sich direkt auf das
Produkt beziehen. Das Fiberskop darf nicht
angewendet werden, wenn nach Meinung eines
verantwortlichen Arztes eine solche Anwendung
eine Gefährdung des Patienten hervorrufen würde,
z. B. aufgrund des Allgemeinzustandes des
Patienten, oder die endoskopische Methode als
solche kontraindiziert ist.
3.1 Sicherheitsmaßnahmen beim
Einsatz der Fiberskope
Der Einsatz der Fiberskope muss in
Übereinstimmung mit den für endoskopische
Verfahren anerkannten medizinischen Regeln und
Verfahrensweisen der Endoskopie erfolgen.
3 Intended Use
Fiberscopes are used in diagnostic and surgical
endoscopy. They must only be used by
appropriately trained and qualified technical staff.
Indications: Examination, diagnosis and/or ther
apy in conjunction with endoscopic accessories in
various medical fields.
Contraindications: No contraindications are
known which directly relate to the product. The
fiberscope must not be used if, in the opinion of
a qualified physician, such an application would
endanger the patient, e.g., due to the patient’s
general condition, or if the endoscopic method as
such is contraindicated.
3.1 Safety precautions when using
the fiberscopes
Fiberscopes must be used according to the
medical rules and procedures of endoscopy
recognized for this method.

Die KARLSTORZ Fiberskope dürfen nur von
Personen eingesetzt werden, die über eine
entsprechende medizinische Qualifikation verfügen
und mit der Technik der Endoskopie vertraut sind.
Die in dieser Anleitung gegebenen Hinweise dienen
lediglich der korrekten Handhabung, Reinigung,
Desinfektion und Sterilisation der Fiberskope.
Sie sind nicht zur Einführung in die Technik der
Endoskopie geeignet.
4 User qualification
KARLSTORZ fiberscopes may only be used by
persons with an appropriate medical qualification
and who are acquainted with the endoscopic
technique.
The information given in these instructions only
serves to instruct in the correct handling, cleaning,
disinfection and sterilization of the fiberscopes. It is
not intended as an introduction to the endoscopic
technique.

WARNUNG: Der einwandfreie Zustand des Fiber-
skopes sowie des in Kombination verwendeten
Zubehörs ist vor jeder Anwendung zu überprü-
fen. Beschädigte Fiberskope bzw. beschädigtes
Zubehör dürfen nicht verwendet werden.
WARNUNG: Eine sicherheitstechnische Unbe-
denklichkeit bei Kombinationen von Medizin-
produkten ist nur dann gegeben, wenn
• diese in den jeweiligen Gebrauchsanweisungen
als solche ausgewiesen sind oder
• die Zweckbestimmung und die
Schnittstellenspezifikationen der in Kombination
verwendeten Produkte dies zulässt.
Die Gebrauchsanweisungen und die Schnitt-
stellenspezifikationen der in Kombination
verwendeten Medizinprodukte sind genauestens zu
beachten.
WARNUNG: Der langandauernde, direkte Kontakt
der Endoskopspitze mit umliegendem Gewebe
ist aufgrund von möglichen, hohen Temperaturen
an der Endoskopspitze zu vermeiden und kann zu
Gewebeschäden führen.
WARNUNG: Das Fiberskop wird nicht steril
ausgeliefert und muss vor der ersten sowie vor
jeder weiteren Anwendung gereinigt, desinfiziert
und ggf. sterilisiert werden.
ACHTUNG: Die Druckausgleichskappe muss
bei der Sterilisation und dem Transport auf
den Entlüftungsstutzen montiert sein, um einen
Druckausgleich zu gewährleisten.
WARNUNG: Bevor das Fiberskop aus dem
Patienten entfernt wird, muss der Lock-
Mechanismus , gelöst und die distale Spitze des
Fiberskopes in die neutrale, nicht abgewinkelte
Position gebracht werden, da sonst Schäden
am Instrument oder Verletzungen des Patienten
auftreten können.
WARNUNG: Falls während einer Anwendung am
Patient eine Funktionsstörung auftreten sollte, die
Anwendung sofort abbrechen. Die distale Spitze
des Fiberskopes in die neutrale, nicht abgewinkelte
Position bringen und das Fiberskop langsam und
vorsichtig aus dem Patienten entfernen.
WARNING: Verify the sound condition of the
fiberscope as well as of accessories used in
combination before every application. Damaged
fiberscopes or damaged accessories must not be
used.
WARNING: Combinations of medical devices are
only then assured to be safe if
• they are identified as such in the respective
instruction manual or
• the intended purpose and the interface
specifications of the devices used in
combination permit this.
Pay careful attention to the instructions and
interface specifications of medical products used in
combination.
WARNING: Lengthy direct contact between
the endoscope tip and surrounding tissue may
cause tissue damage due to the potentially high
temperatures on the tip of the endoscope and
must thus be avoided.
WARNING: The fiberscope is delivered unsteril-
ized, and must therefore be cleaned, disinfected
and (where applicable) sterilized prior to initial use
and each subsequent reuse.
ATTENTION: The pressure compensation cap
must be in place on the vent port for sterilization
and transport to ensure pressure compensation.
WARNING: Before the fiberscope is removed from
the patient, the locking mechanism must be
released and the distal tip of the fiberscope put
in the neutral, non-angled position. Otherwise the
instrument may be damaged or the patient injured.
WARNING: If a malfunction should occur during
application on a patient, stop the application
immediately. Place the distal tip of the fiberscope
in the neutral, non-angled position and remove the
fiberscope slowly and carefully from the patient.

w stanie sterylnym, a tym samym przed pierwszym
użyciem oraz przed każdym kolejnym użyciem musi
być oczyszczony, zdezynfekowany i ewentualnie
wysterylizowany.
ZAGROŻENIE: nakładka kompensacyjna
ciśnienia musi być zamontowana na króćcu
odpowietrzającym podczas sterylizacji i transportu,
aby zagwarantować wyrównanie ciśnienia.
OSTRZEŻENIE: przed usunięciem fiberoskopu z
ciała pacjenta należy zwolnić mechanizm blokujący
 i przesunąć końcówkę dystalną fiberoskopu do
pozycji neutralnej, wyprostowanej, w przeciwnym
razie może dojść do uszkodzenia przyrządu lub
zranienia pacjenta.
OSTRZEŻENIE: jeśli podczas stosowania w ciele
pacjenta dojdzie do zakłócenia funkcjonowania
urządzenia, należy niezwłocznie przerwać
stosowanie. Ustawić końcówkę dystalną
fiberoskopu w neutralnej, wyprostowanej pozycji
oraz powoli i ostrożnie usunąć fiberoskop z ciała
pacjenta.

VORSICHT: Fiberskope dürfen keinesfalls
dampfsterilisiert (autoklaviert) werden.
VORSICHT: Die zulässige Maximaltemperatur
be trägt 65°C für Reinigung und Desinfektion,

VORSICHT: Fiberskope dürfen keinesfalls in phy-
siologische Kochsalzlösung eingelegt werden,
da bereits kurzzeitiger Kontakt zu Lochfraß und

Alkohol führt zur Beschädigung des Materials.

considerable damage to fiberscopes.

7.1 Absaugventil montieren
Den Absaugventileinsatz auf den Ventilstutzen
aufsetzen und drehen bis die seitlichen Noppen
des Einsatzes über den Aussparungen des
Stutzens liegen.
Absaugventileinsatz durch leichten Druck im
Ventilstutzen einrasten.
7 Initial operation
3WARNING: The berscope is delivered
unsterilized, and must therefore be cleaned,
disinfected and (where applicable) sterilized
prior to initial use and each subsequent
reuse.
7.1 Fitting the suction valve
Place the suction valve insert on the valve
nozzle and turn until the projections on the side
of the insert lie over the nozzle recesses.
Push gently until the suction valve insert clicks into
the valve nozzle.
7.2 Tubushalter montieren

Tubushalter von distal auf das Fiberskop
aufschieben und fixieren durch Drehen der beiden
Teile in entgegengesetzter Richtung.
7.3 Lippenventil montieren

Das Lippenventil für Einmalgebrauch auf den
Instrumentenkanal  setzen mit Drehung im
Uhrzeigersinn leicht anziehen (Kunststoffteil).
7.2 Fitting the tube holder
(onlyintubation fiberscopes)
Push the tube holder onto the fiberscope from
distal and secure it by turning the two parts in
opposite directions.
7.3 Fitting the lip valve
(onlybronchofiberscopes)
Place the disposable lip valve onto the instrument
channel and tighten gently by turning it in a
clockwise direction (plastic part).




3OSTRZEŻENIE: beroskop nie jest
dostarczany w stanie sterylnym, w związku
z czym przed pierwszym użyciem oraz
przed każdym kolejnym użyciem musi
zostać oczyszczony, zdezynfekowany i
ewentualnie wysterylizowany.
7.1 Montaż zaworu ssącego
Zawór ssący  umieścić na króćcu zaworu i
przekręcić, aż boczne elementy mocujące zaworu
znajdą się w wyżłobieniach króćca.
Lekko naciskając zablokować zawór ssący w
króćcu zaworu.
7.2 Montaż uchwytu na rurkę intubacyjną
(tylko fiberoskopy intubacyjne)
Nasunąć uchwyt na rurkę intubacyjną na końcówkę
dystalną fiberoskopu i unieruchomić, obracając
obydwa elementy w przeciwnym kierunku.
7.3 Montaż zaworu z
uszczelnieniem wargowym
(tylkobronchofiberoskopy)
Nałożyć jednorazowy zawór z uszczelnieniem
wargowym na kanał przyrządu  i lekko dokręcić,
obracając w zgodnie z ruchem wskazówek zegara
(element z tworzywa sztucznego).

8 Handhabung der Fiberskope
Der optische Teil der KARLSTORZ Fiberskope
besteht aus einem optischen Glasfaserbündel in
einem flexiblen und wasserdichten Mantel, einem
Lichtleiter sowie Objektiv und Okularlinsen. Wie
alle optischen Systeme sind diese Teile sehr
empfindlich. Ein sorgfältiger Umgang mit den
Fiberskopen ist deshalb die Voraussetzung für
lange Lebensdauer und gleichbleibende Quali tät.
Beachten Sie deshalb folgende Punkte:
8 Handling the fiberscopes
The optical section of KARLSTORZ fiberscopes
consists of a fiberoptic bundle in a flexible and
watertight casing, a light guide, as well as objective
and eyepiece lenses. Like all optical systems, these
parts are very delicate. For this reason, careful
handling of the fiberscopes is essential for a long
service life and a consistent quality. Therefore be
aware of the following points:
• Die Fiberskope und Lichtleiter dürfen keinesfalls
geknickt oder in zu enge Schlingen gelegt
werden, damit keine Glasfasern abbrechen. Die
Fiberskope deshalb am besten hängend oder in
geräumigen Behältern aufbewahren.
• Bedienelement Auf/Ab nicht ruckartig oder
mit Gewalt bewegen.
• Instrumente oder Reinigungsbürsten nicht
gewaltsam durch die Kanäle führen. Dies kann
zur Beschädigung des Mantels führen, vor
allem dann, wenn die Spitze des Instrumentes
abgewinkelt ist.
• Das Objektiv  am distalen Ende sorgfältig vor
Beschädigungen schützen: Nicht anstoßen,
Verschmutzungen keinesfalls mit scharfkantigen
Gegenständen entfernen.
• Das Fiberskop nicht zusammen mit scharf-
kantigen Gegenständen lagern oder
desinfizieren, um Beschädigungen der
Außenmantel zu vermeiden.
• Niemals schwere Gegenstände auf das
Fiberskop legen.
1HINWEIS: Jedem von KARL STORZ
ausgelieferten Fiberskop liegt ein Foto
bei, das den Zustand des Fiberbündels
bei Auslieferung zeigt. Eine Kopie
dieses Fotos wird in der Kartei unserer
Qualitätssicherung aufbewahrt. Die keil-
förmige Markierung (bei 12 Uhr) dient zur
Orientierung des Benutzers.
• Never kink or tightly coil the fiberscopes and
light guides, so that no optical fibers break off. It
is therefore best to suspend the fiberscopes for
storage or keep in large containers.
• Do not jerk the up/down control or move
forcefully.
• Do not insert the instruments or cleaning brush-
es forcefully through the channels. This may
cause damage to the casing, especially if the tip
of the instrument is deflected.
• Carefully protect the objective lens at the
distal end from damage. Do not hit. Never
re move soiling with sharpedged objects.
• Never store or disinfect the fiberscope together
with sharpedged objects to prevent damage to
the exterior.
• Never place heavy objects on top of the fiber
scope.

condition of the ber bundle upon delivery.
A copy of this photo is kept on le in our
quality control ofce. The wedge-shaped
marking (at 12 o’clock) serves as a guide
for the user.
8 Użytkowanie fiberoskopów
Część optyczna fiberoskopów KARLSTORZ składa
się z wiązki szklanych włókien światłowodowych
otoczonych giętkim i wodoszczelnym płaszczem,
ze światłowodu oraz soczewek obiektywu i okularu.
Jak wszystkie układy optyczne elementy te są
bardzo podatne na uszkodzenia mechaniczne.
Warunkiem długiego okresu użytkowania i
utrzymania wysokiej jakości fiberoskopów jest
zachowanie należytej ostrożności przy użytkowaniu
tych przyrządów. W związku z tym należy
przestrzegać następujących punktów:
• aby zapobiec pękaniu szklanych włókien, nie
wolno załamywać fiberoskopów/światłowodów
lub składać ich w ciasne pętle. Dlatego
fiberoskopy najlepiej przechowywać na
odpowiednich wieszakach lub w obszernych
pojemnikach.
• Nie należy poruszać elementem obsługi – w
górę/w dół  gwałtownie lub z użyciem siły.
• Przyrządy lub szczotki do czyszczenia
należy prowadzić przez kanały bez używania
siły. Gwałtowne ruchy mogą powodować
uszkodzenia płaszcza, szczególnie wtedy, gdy
końcówka przyrządu jest odchylona.
• Soczewkę obiektywu  końcówki dystalnej
należy starannie chronić przed uszkodzeniami:
nie uderzać nim i w żadnym wypadku nie
usuwać zabrudzeń przedmiotami o ostrych
krawędziach.
• Fiberoskopu nie należy przechowywać lub
dezynfekować razem z przedmiotami o ostrych
krawędziach, w celu uniknięcia uszkodzeń
powłoki zewnętrznej.
• Nie kłaść ciężkich przedmiotów na fiberoskopie.
1WSKAZÓWKA: do każdego
dostarczonego przez KARL STORZ
beroskopu jest dołączone zdjęcie
przedstawiające stan obrazowodu w chwili
wysyłki. Kopia tego zdjęcia przechowywana
jest w kartotece naszego działu kontroli
jakości. Klinowe oznaczenie (na godzinie
12) służy użytkownikowi do celów

Bedienung des Fiberskopes und des entsprech-
en den Zubehörs. Sie sind keine Einführung in die
Technik der Endoskopie.
Hinweise zur endoskopischen Technik entnehmen
Sie bitte der entsprechenden medizinischen
Fachliteratur.
Für Ihr Fiberskop geeignetes Zubehör (Katheter,
flexible Scheren und Zangen, Führungsdrähte,
Steinfänger, Sonden für die Lithotripsie, Laser fibern,
Elektroden u.a.) finden Sie im entsprechenden
KARLSTORZ Katalog.
3WARNUNG: Die Lichtintensität der Licht-
quelle soweit reduzieren, dass noch eine
optimale Ausleuchtung des Operations-
feldes erreicht wird. Je höher die Inten-
sität der Lichtquelle eingestellt wird, desto
größer ist die Wärmeabgabe an der Spitze
des Fiberskopes.
3WARNUNG: Niemals das Ende des
Lichtleitkabels oder die distale Spitze
des Fiberskops auf oder unter ein
Sterilabdecktuch legen. Die Intensität
des Lichts kann zu Verbrennungen
des Patienten und/oder des sterilen
Abdecktuches führen.
• Beachten Sie beim Anschluss und Betrieb
von Lichtquellen und Saug/Spülgeräten die
Ge brauchsanweisungen der jeweiligen Geräte.
Die von KARLSTORZ empfohlenen Spül geräte
sind auf einen maximalen Druck von 54 kpa
(400 mmHg/0,54 bar/7,8 psi) eingestellt.
• Die Durchführung von endoskopischen
Untersuchungen müssen unter aseptischen
Kautelen erfolgen.
• Beim Einführen des Fiberskops in den Pati-
enten muss sich die distale Spitze des Fiber-
skops in gerader, nicht abgewinkelter Stellung
befinden. Das Fiberskop ist entsprechend
der für endoskopische Verfahren anerkannten
medizinischen Regeln und Verfahrensweisen zu
handhaben.
9 Using the fiberscopes
The following instructions are recommended
for the proper operation of the fiberscope and
accessories. This is not a reference for endoscopic
techniques.
Consult the appropriate medical literature for
information on endoscopic techniques.
You can find accessories for your fiberscope
(catheters, flexible scissors and forceps, guide
wires, stone baskets, lithotriptor probes, laser
fibers, electrodes etc.) in the appropriate
KARLSTORZ catalog.
3WARNING: Always adjust the light source
to the minimum illumination intensity
necessary to achieve optimum visualization
of the operating eld. The higher the
intensity setting of the light source,
the greater the heat energy that will be
generated at the tip of the berscope.
3WARNING: Never lay the end of the
ber optic cable or the distal tip of the
berscope on or under a sterile cover cloth.
The light intensity may lead to burns on the
patient and/or sterile cover cloth.
• When connecting and operating light
sources and suction/irrigation equipment, be
certain to read the appropriate instruction
manuals for the equipment. The irrigation
equipment recommended by KARLSTORZ
is set to a maximum pressure of 54 kpa
(400mmHg/0.54bar/7.8 psi).
• Endoscopic examinations must be carried out
under aseptic conditions.
• When introducing the fiberscope into the
patient, the distal tip of the fiberscope must be
in a straight, nondeflected position (control lock-
in can be felt and heard).
The fiberscope must be handled according to
the recognized medical rules and procedures for
endoscopic methods.
9 Zastosowanie fiberoskopów
Poniższe wskazówki mają na celu zapewnienie
poprawnej obsługi fiberoskopu i jego wyposażenia.
Nie są one pomyślane jako wprowadzenie do
techniki endoskopowej.
Wskazówek dotyczących techniki endoskopowej
należy szukać w odpowiedniej specjalistycznej
literaturze medycznej.
Wyposażenie dodatkowe odpowiednie do
posiadanego fiberoskopu (cewniki, giętkie nożyczki
i szczypce, druty prowadzące, koszyki do kamieni,
sondy do litotrypsji, włókna laserowe, elektrody i
in.) można dobrać na podstawie odpowiedniego
katalogu firmy KARLSTORZ.
3OSTRZEŻENIE: intensywność źródła
światła należy zredukować do tego stopnia,
żeby osiągnąć optymalne oświetlenie
pola operacyjnego. Im większa będzie
intensywność źródła światła, tym więcej
ciepła oddawane jest przez końcówkę
beroskopu.
3OSTRZEŻENIE: końcówki światłowodu
lub końcówki dystalnej beroskopu
nie wolno kłaść na jałowych chustach
okrywających lub pod nimi. Wysokie
natężenie światła może być przyczyną
oparzenia pacjenta i/lub doprowadzić do
wypalenia dziur w jałowych okryciach.
• Podłączając i użytkując źródła światła oraz
urządzenia do odsysania/płukania, należy
przestrzegać instrukcji obsługi tych urządzeń.
Zalecane przez KARLSTORZ urządzenia do
płukania mogą być ustawione na maksymalne
ciśnienie wynoszące 54 kpa (400 mmHg/0,54
bar/7,8 psi).
• Badania endoskopowe muszą być wykonywane
w warunkach aseptycznych.
• Przy wsuwaniu fiberoskopu do ciała pacjenta
końcówka dystalna musi być w położeniu
wyprostowanym, nie wygiętym. Fiberoskopem
należy posługiwać się zgodnie z uznanymi
zasadami wiedzy medycznej i metodami
technologii endoskopowej.
