Gerätebeschreibung
Der ENDOMAT®n. HAMOU®ist eine kombinierte
Spül- und Saugpumpe für gynäkologische und
laparoskopische Operationen. Durch Verwen-
dung modernster Technologien ist der Einsatz
dieses Gerätes sowohl bei hysteroskopischen
wie auch bei laparoskopischen Operationen
möglich. Die Anpassung an die jeweilige Ope-
rationsart durch Bereitstellung der jeweils opti-
malen Betriebsparameter erfolgt automatisch
mit dem Einlegen der für hysteroskopische bzw.
laparoskopische Anwendungen vorgesehenen
Schlauchsets. Das Einlegen der Förderschläu-
che wird durch eine neu konstruierte Rollen-
pumpe deutlich vereinfacht; die richtige Positio-
nierung wird zudem vom Gerät elektronisch
überwacht.
Die Bedienung und Kontrolle des Gerätes erfol-
gen über präzise Tipp-Tasten. Jeweils parallel
nebeneinanderliegende Anzeigen für Soll- und
Istwerte erlauben eine optimale Kontrolle des
aktuellen Betriebszustandes. Eine elektronische
Sicherheitsschaltung blockiert die Förderung
bzw. Absaugung bei anhaltenden Abweichun-
gen vom Sollwert und warnt den Benutzer über
akustische Signale. Zum hohen Sicherheits-
standard des ENDOMAT®n. HAMOU®trägt
auch ein elektronisches Auto-Check-System
bei, das die verschiedenen Systemkomponen-
ten bei jeder Inbetriebnahme des Gerätes prüft
und etwaige Fehlerzustände signalisiert.
Descripción del aparato
La ENDOMAT®según HAMOU®es una bomba
combinada de succión e irrigación para opera-
ciones ginecológicas y laparoscópicas. Dado
que se utilizan las tecnologías más modernas,
puede emplearse este aparato tanto en interven-
ciones histeroscópicas como laparoscópicas.
El ajuste al tipo de intervención, proporcionando
los parámetros óptimos de funcionamiento co-
rrespondientes, se realiza de forma automática al
colocar los set de tubos flexibles previstos para
aplicaciones histeroscópicas o laparoscópicas.
Una bomba giratoria de nuevo diseño facilita sen-
siblemente la colocación de los tubos flexibles de
transporte, cuya posición correcta es además
controlada por el aparato.
El manejo y control del aparato se llevan a cabo
mediante unas teclas precisas. Los indicadores
de los valores exigidos y reales, situados respec-
tivamente de forma paralela, permiten un control
óptimo del estado actual de funcionamiento.
Un circuito electrónico de seguridad bloquea el
transporte o la succión en caso de anomalías
persistentes respecto al valor exigido y avisa al
operador mediante señales acústicas. Al elevado
estándar de seguridad de la ENDOMAT®según
HAMOU®contribuye asimismo un sistema elec-
trónico de Auto-Check que revisa los diferentes
componentes del sistema cada vez que se pone
en marcha el aparato, indicando eventuales
errores.
Device description
The HAMOU®ENDOMAT®is a combination irri-
gation/suction pump for use in gynecological
and laparoscopic surgery. Use of the most ad-
vanced technologies allows its application in
both hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery.
Adaptation to the type of surgery intended via
provision of the relevant optimal operating pa-
rameters occurs automatically when the correct
type of tubing set for the hysteroscopic or
laparoscopic application is inserted. Inserting
pressure lines has been greatly simplified
through use of a redesigned reel pump. The unit
electronically monitors the correct positioning of
pressure lines.
Operator adjustments and unit operation are
made using precision pushbutton switches.
Displays for setpoints and current actual perfor-
mance data, which are positioned next to each
other, allow optimal monitoring of unit opera-
tional status. Electronic safety circuitry inter-
rupts irrigation/suction operation in the event
that unit performance persistently deviates from
the setpoint, and issues an audible alarm to
warn the operator. An electronic self-check
routine that checks all unit components each
time the unit is switched on and notifies the op-
erator of any failures detected further enhances
the HAMOU®ENDOMAT®'s high standards of
safe operation.

presión y el flujo en el tubo de irrigación se pue-

te se sobrepase levemente se percibe un sonido
intermitente. Como seguridad adicional se ha in-
tegrado una válvula de sobrepresión en la cáma-
ra de medición de la presión con el fin de evitar
que se sobrepase la presión máxima.
Cuidado: La utilización de aparatos electromecá-
nicos médico-técnicos puede producir una inter-
ferencia electromagnética en otros aparatos, par-
ticularmente en cuentapasos cardíacos. Hay que
adoptar las medidas necesarias para asegurar

irrigant does not completely run out and result in

measure intracorporeal pressure. The pressure
setting is the pressure at which the irrigant is
being pumped into the system. Irrigation line
pressure and flow can be read on displays 
and  , respectively. An intermittent “beep” tone
will be heard if the pressure limit setting is
briefly exceeded. For additional safety there is
an overpressure valve integrated into the pres-
sure measuring chamber to prevent maximum
delivery pressure from being exceeded.
Warning: Use of electromechanical medical de-
vices can cause electromagnetic interference in
other devices, particularly cardiac pacemakers.
Precautions must be taken to ensure that the
patient’s well being is maintained in the event of
such interference.
Warning: DO NOT reuse the disposable tubing
set. DISCARD after use.

Intended use
The HAMOU®ENDOMAT®is a combined suction/
irrigation pump for use in hysteroscopic and
laparoscopic interventions. Application is per-

Use of the unit in fields other than those indicated
above is not allowed for safety reasons.

ated with tubing sets and accessories which
have been designated as suitable for the unit
by KARL STORZ.
No responsibility for the safe operation of the
instrument can be accepted if any tube systems
other than those specified are used. The follow-
ing serious defects may arise in particular:
• Inadequate grip on the tube connectors
means a loss of sterility and may lead to the
unit being damaged by ingress of liquid.
• Premature breakage of the pump tube seg-
ment and consequent loss of sterility and
damage to the unit caused by ingress of
liquid.
• Display of an incorrect actual irrigation rate
due to deviations in tube diameter.

Safety precautions when
operating the unit
It is the user’s responsibility to make sure the unit
is safe and operates properly before using it.
During treatment with the ENDOMAT®the patient
must be treated and kept under observation with
the usual medical care. This includes keeping a
check on the progress of treatment, as well as
monitoring the vital levels and the anesthetic.
Any treatment may only be performed if there is
visual observation of the action of the unit.

Safety precautions at the site
of installation
The unit may only be used in medical rooms in
which the electrical equipment has been in-
stalled in accordance with applicable national
regulations.
It is not intended for use in hazardous zones.
This means, for example, that when using easily
combustible and explosive inhalation anesthet-
ics or mixtures thereof, the unit must not be
operated inside the hazard zone shown in the
diagram. This also applies to highly combustible
and potentially explosive chemicals, e.g. skin
disinfectants and fast-acting surface
disinfectants.
The unit is equipped with a connector for at-
taching a ground line. It should be connected
up in accordance with national regulations.

Der ENDOMAT®n. HAMOU®verfügt über fol-
gende Sicherheitseinrichtungen:
Selbstprüfung
Die Selbstprüfung wird bei jedem Einschalten
des Geräts durchgeführt. Folgende Komponen-
ten werden dabei geprüft:
• Interne Selbstprüfung der Elektronik
• Test der Schlaucherkennung
• Test der Druckmesskammererkennung
• Test des Drucksensors
Fällt einer der Tests negativ aus, so kann das
Gerät nicht gestartet werden. Das Gerät gibt
ca. 10 Sekunden lang einen pulsierenden
Warnton aus. Solange wie der Fehler besteht,
blinkt die Fehleranzeige.
Safety features
The HAMOU®ENDOMAT®is equipped with the
following safety features:
Self-Check
A self-check procedure is performed each time
the unit is switched on. The components
checked are as follows:
• internal self-check of the electronic circuitry
• tube detection test
• pressure measuring chamber detection test
• pressure sensor test
If the results of any of these tests are negative, it
will not be possible to start the unit. In this case
the unit will issue an intermittent warning sound
for 10 seconds. The error display will continue
to flash until the error is remedied.

Autocontrol de funcionamiento
El autocontrol de funcionamiento tiene lugar cada
vez que el equipo se pone en marcha y se con-
trolan los siguientes componentes del equipo:

• Test de identificación de la cámara de medi-
ción de la presión
• Control del sensor de presión
Si uno de estos controles diera un resultado ne-
gativo, el equipo no podrá ponerse en funciona-
miento. El equipo emite entonces una señal acús-
tica pulsante durante aprox. 10 segundos. La
indicación de error permanece encendida inter-
mitente hasta que se haya subsanado el error.

Display element test
On switching on the instrument all the display
elements will light up. This is to enable the user
to check the display for any faulty segments.

puede comprobar si existen segmentos defectuo-
sos en el indicador.
Control de la presión de irrigación
Tan pronto como el valor real de la presión de
irrigación sobrepasa el valor nominal preselec-
cionado, se interrumpe el servicio.
Si esta diferencia se mantiene durante más de
5 segundos, suena una señal acústica de alarma.
Como medida adicional de seguridad se ha inte-
grado en la cámara de medición de la presión
una válvula de sobrepresión, la cual evita que se
sobrepase la presión máxima de irrigación.
Monitoring the irrigation pressure
Irrigation will be stopped as soon as the actual
pressure value exceeds the specified setpoint.
If the deviation lasts for more than several sec-
onds, there will be an audible warning signal.
As an additional safety measure the pressure
measuring chamber was fitted with an integrat-
ed overpressure valve which prevents the maxi-
mum irrigation pressure from being exceeded.

Betrieb eingestellt.
Hält die Abweichung für mehrere Sekunden an,

die Druckmesskammer ein Überdruckventil in-
tegriert, welches zusätzlich ein Überschreiten
des maximalen Spüldrucks verhindert.
Note: In order to insert the tube set before put-
ting the unit into operation, the self-check can
be bypassed by pressing the footswitch during
power up.
Make sure the unit performs a self-check proce-
dure at least once every day of operation.

Entnehmen Sie den ENDOMAT®n. HAMOU®
und das Zubehör vorsichtig der Verpackung.
Überprüfen Sie die Lieferung auf Vollständigkeit
und auf eventuelle Beschädigungen. Sollte die
Lieferung Anlass zur Reklamation geben, so
wenden Sie sich bitte umgehend an den Her-
steller oder Lieferanten.
Wenn möglich, bewahren Sie die Originalver-
packung auf, sie kann bei einem Transport des
Gerätes nützlich sein.
Unpacking the equipment
Carefully unpack the HAMOU®ENDOMAT®and
remove the unit and its accessories from their
packaging. Check for missing items and evidence
of shipping damage. File any complaints with
the manufacturer or supplier immediately.
If possible, retain the original packing materials
for later use; these can come in handy if the unit
has to be transported.

Extraiga cuidadosamente la ENDOMAT®según
HAMOU®y sus accesorios de la caja. Revise si el
envío está completo y compruebe posibles ave-
rías de transporte. En caso de reclamaciones,

Beschriftungsstreifen an der
Frontplatte anbringen
Linke vordere Seitenblende mit Schrauben-
dreher lösen.
Gegebenenfalls vorhandenen unbeschrifteten
Platzhalter entfernen. Beschriftungsstreifen 
auswählen (z. Zt. in 6 Sprachen erhältlich) und
zwischen Dekorfolie und Frontblech schieben.
Den Streifen bei der Strichmarkierung um 90°
knicken und ca. 2 mm weiter (zum Streifenende
hin) wieder 90° zurückknicken, damit die Sei-
tenblende wieder ungehindert angebracht
werden kann.

Fitting a label strip to the
front panel
Undo the left-hand front side cover with a
screwdriver.
Remove any unmarked label strip. Select a
label strip (currently 6 languages available)
and slide it between the plastic and the metal
front.
Fold the strip along the broken line to an angle
of 90° and approx. 2 mm further on (toward the
end of the strip) fold it back to an angle of 90°
so that the side cover can be refitted without
any obstructions.
Replace the side cover.

posible colocar la cubierta lateral sin impedimentos.

Der ENDOMAT®n. HAMOU®ist sowohl für
hysteroskopische wie auch für laparoskopische
Anwendungen geeignet. Die Vorwahl des ge-
wünschten Anwendungsbereiches erfolgt auto-
matisch durch Einlegen des für den jeweiligen
Anwendungsbereich bestimmten Schlauchsets.
Das Gerät erfasst die gewünschte Betriebsart
über unterschiedliche „Schlüssel“ der
Schlauchsets und stellt die entsprechenden
Betriebsparameter ein.
Mode of operation selection
The HAMOU®ENDOMAT®unit is suitable for
both hysteroscopic and laparoscopic applica-
tions. The appropriate mode of operation will be
automatically selected when the correct type of
tubing for the application is inserted. The unit
determines the intended application from the
differing ‘encodings’ of tubing sets and then
automatically selects the appropriate mode of
operation.

aplicaciones histeroscópicas como laparoscópi-
cas. La selección del campo de aplicación de-
seado se realiza automáticamente al colocar el
set de tubos que corresponden al campo de apli-

funcionamiento deseado por medio de diferentes
claves del set de tubos y ajusta los parámetros
de funcionamiento correspondientes.
