1. Getting Started
Please read these assembly instruction carefully.
Some stand parts and the mill are heavy. Use caution and plan carefully when lifting and moving them.
Wear protecting articles such as work clothes, gloves etc. in order to avoid personal injury or damage to
clothes.
It is best if two people assemble the stand.
Gather all the appropriate tools.
Screw drivers slotted and phillips
Tape measure
Socket set and wrenches
Metric taps and handle
Level
Allen wrenches
Shears
Hammer
Pry bar

The stand with side chip trays with leak resistant drip channeling (PN 31191)

Receiving the Stand
Your PCNC 770 Stand is delivered in a wooden shipping crate
banded with steel bands. A pallet jack or fork truck can be used
to transport the crates to the installation site.
WARNING! Steel bands can be dangerous.
Use care and wear leather gloves and eye protection when
cutting the bands on the crate (Figure 1).
The large crate contains the base and splash guards. Remove
the crate sides, plastic covering and cloth straps. Set aside the
splash guards.
Next remove the base from the pallet. With 2 people
turn the base on its side. Then unbolt the base from
the pallet as shown in Figure 3.

3. Attach the feet to the stand
Once the pallet is removed and while the base is still on its
side is a good time to attach the feet to the stand. First
grease the inner and outer threads on the feet Figure 4
Otherwise they will rust and future adjustment will be
impossible.
Next insert the bolt into the foot pad and place the
spacer on the bolt as shown in Figure 5. The spacer brings
the stand to the correct height and makes room to for a
pallet jack under the stand.
To review foot steps are:
1. Place the Spacer (3) onto the bolt of Iron Foot Pad
(4);
2. Insert the bolt of the Foot Pad (4) into the bottom
of the stand;
3. Add the Flat Washer (2) and Nut (1) and tighten.

Figure 7 shows a stand with 4 feet installed. With 2
people set the stand on its feet. Next position the
stand where you plan to use the machine. A pallet
jack is useful for positioning the stand. Level the stand
and make sure it is resting solidly on all 4 adjustment
feet.
We recommend keeping the stand at least 12”
From the wall. If you are very limited on space
10” will work but it will be tight. Figure8

4. Lift the mill on to the stand
Prior to placing the mill on the stand apply a thin coat of
oil or grease to the 4 machine mounting pads to prevent
rust. Next carefully lift the mill onto the stand. Tormach
recommends using the Lifting Bar (PN 31446) or the
moving kit (PN 31333) with a crane, engine hoist or
forklift (Figure 9.) Please refer to www.tormach.com for
more information and video of proper use of the moving
kit.
CAUTION! The mill and stand are heavy. Use care and
proper procedures when lifting the mill onto the stand.
5. Bolt the PCNC on the stand
Once the mill has been safely placed on the landing pads of the
stand, attach the mill to the stand with the 4 mounting studs (#6
figure 10.) (M12 x 130), lock washers (#7), washers (#8) and nuts
(#9) as shown in figure 10. Do not tighten any of the nuts
completely until you have started each of them, as it may be
necessary to reposition the mill slightly to achieve alignment.
5. Installing oil pump
The holes for the manual oiler are drilled and taped for
easy mounting as shown in figure11. If you purchased
the automatic oiler (PN 31373) please refer to the
directions that came with it.

6. Attach the Coolant Trays
After the mill is bolted to the stand it is time to attach the
coolant trays. Position the trays near the stand. Figure 12
Test fit the coolant trays. The left and right trays are different.
You may need to run a tap into the holes to clean the paint out
of the threads.
It is very helpful to have another person help position the
tray and to hold it in place Figure 13. Prior to attaching the
tray to the stand with the mounting bolts apply a small
amount of silicone caulk to each bolt hole.

Next install the stainless steel wear guard across the front of the chip
tray as shown in Figure 14.
7. Installing the back splash
The guard with the back access panel goes behind the
machine control panel. Caulking is recommended for the
splash guard bolts, but not for the joint between the splash
guards and the coolant tray.
8. Coolant System Installation
Coolant tank is placed behind PCNC 770 with the exit trough
directing coolant into tank as shown in figure 16.
Make sure to check alignment to avoid coolant spills.

Locate, remove and discard the two screws on the side of
the spindle head as shown in Figure 17. New bolts are
supplied with the coolant tank assembly. Note these
screws may be painted heavy and hard to see!!
Connect the Plastic Coolant Tube(6) to the Connecting
Tube (4); Place the Connecting Tube (4) into the
Support (5); Fasten the Nut on the Flexible Tube (1) to
the Connecting Tube (4); Use the Cap Screws (8) to fix
the Support (5) to the Mill Head (9). Finally tighten the
Screw (7) to fix the Connecting Tube (4). The completed
assembly is shown Figure 18.
The coolant pump is mounted on the top of the coolant tank as
shown in 19. Use Teflon tape on the connection. Note that the
coolant pump is dual voltage (110VAC/220VAC). The pump is
shipped with the wiring configured for 110 VAC. If the pump is to be
used with 220 VAC unscrew the electrical pump cover plate and
re-wire the pump per the diagram on the inside of the lid.

9. Table Mounted Splash Guard
Before you mount the splash guard to the mill you need to remove the
protective screws from the table of the mill as shown in Figure 20.
The table mounted splash guard comes with six pieces as
shown in figure 23.First the sides need to be attached to
the front tray and the handles to the front plastic guard
with phillips head screws. Then mount the splash guard to
the mill as shown in figure 22.

10. Machine Arm
The Machine Arm is a separately purchased accessory that
many machine owners find very useful. Can be mounted on
either the PCNC control cabinet for right hand mounting, or
directly on the cast iron column for left hand mounting as
shown in Figure 24. Machine arm mounted to column.. All
PCNC mills come with mounting holes for either or both
locations.
Figure 25.Shows a machine arm configured for holding a tool
tray. The arm is mounted to the mill column using the 4 bolts,
washers and lock washers provided. For mounting to the
control panel insert a bolt and a small washer through the
mounting bracket and through the hole in the cabinet. Use the
large fender washer, small washer, lock washer and nut on the
inside of the cabinet.
