CuttingUnitSafety
•Thecuttingunitisonlyacompletemachinewhen
installedonatractionunit.Readthetraction
unitOperator’sManualcarefullyforcomplete
instructionsonthesafeuseofthemachine.
•Stopthemachine,removethekey,andwaitfor
allmovingpartstostopbeforeinspectingthe
attachmentafterstrikinganobjectorifthereis
anabnormalvibrationinthemachine.Makeall
necessaryrepairsbeforeresumingoperation.
•Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandall
hardwaretightened.Replaceallwornordamaged
decals.
•Useonlyaccessories,attachments,and
replacementpartsapprovedbyT oro.

Youcanadjusttheheightofcutfrom12.7mmto140
mm(1/2to5-1/2inches)asfollows:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
thePTO,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Whilefacingthemowerfromthefront,release
theturnbucklelock(Figure3).

3.Cleanthegreasettingswitharag.Scrapeany
paintoffthefrontofthetting(s).
4.Connectagreaseguntothetting.Pump
greaseintothettingsuntilgreasebeginsto
oozeoutofthebearings.
5.Wipeupanyexcessgrease.
Note:Youwillneedtoremovesomeofthe
machineguardstoreachallthegreasettings.
Replacetheguardswhennished.
6.Every400operatinghours,disassemblethe
pointsshowninFigure5andapplyanti-seize
grease.

Belt

drivebeltforwearordamage.
Visuallyinspectthebelt(Figure9)fordirt,wear,
cracks,and/orsignsofoverheating.
Ifthebeltisexcessivelywornorshowsanysignsof
damage,replacethebeltasfollows:
1.Loosenthelocknutandadjustingnuttoremove
thetensionfromthebelt.
2.Removetheidlerpulleyandwornbelt.
3.Installthenewbeltwiththeidlerpulley.
4.Checkthebelttension.
Thepropermowerbelttensionis2kg(4.5lb)of
forcetodeectthebelt13mm(1/2inch)atthe
midpointofthelongestspan(Figure9).
Toadjustthetension,dothefollowing:
A.Loosenthelocknut(Figure9).
B.Turntheadjustingnuttoincreaseor
decreasethetensiononthebelt.
C.Tightenthelocknut.

drivebeltforwearordamage.
Visuallyinspectthebelt(Figure10)fordirt,wear,

excessivelywornorshowsanysignsofdamage,
replacethebelt.
Note:Figure10showsthebeltviewedfrom
underneath,butthebeltcanbechecked,adjusted,or
replacedfromeitherthetoporbottomafterremoving
therelevantguard.
Toreplacethebelt,dothefollowing:
1.Removetheidlerpulleyandbelt.
2.Installthenewbeltwiththeidlerpulley.
3.Engagetheblade-controllever(PTO)andcheck
thebelttension.
Thepropermowerbelttensionis4.5kg(10lb)
offorcetodeectthebelt13mm(1/2inch)at
themidpointofthelongestspan(Figure10).
Important:Thebeltmustbetightenough
tonotslipduringheavyloadswhilecutting
grass.Over-tensioningthebeltreducesthe
lifeofthegearbox,belt,andidlerpulley.
Toadjustthetension,dothefollowing:
A.Loosenthelocknut(Figure10).
B.Rotatetheturnbuckle.
Increasethelengthbetweentheeyeboltsto
increasethetensiontothebeltordecrease
thelengthtodecreasethetensiononthe
belt.
C.Tightenthelocknut.
