Important:Toensurepropermowerbelttension,
whichwillresultinalongerbeltlife,checkthe
mowerbelttensionaftertherst8hoursofuseand
8hoursaftereachbeltchange.
ReplacingtheMowerBeltfor
72inMowerDecks
Squealingwhenthebeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhen
cuttinggrass,frayedbeltedges,burnmarksandcracks
aresignsofawornmowerbelt.Replacethemowerbelt
ifanyoftheseconditionsareevident.
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedpositionandsettheparking
brake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Removethebeltcovers(Figure1).

5.Loosentheboltsholdingtheidlerplate(Figure4).
6.Insertaratchetorbreakerbarintothesquareholein
theidlerplatetoadjustthetension(Figure4).
7.Rotatetheratchetorbreakerbartomovetheidler
plateuntiltheidlerspringisbetween10and10-1/4
inches(25.4and26.0cm)fromposttopostas
showninFigure4.
8.Whileholdingthebelttensionandspringlength,
tightentheidlerplateboltsthatsecuretheidlerplate
(Figure4).
