1. For your safety
The luminaire has been designed in accord-
ance with state-of-the-art standards, manu-
factured with utmost care using high-quality
materials, and tested.
Nevertheless, its use may constitute a risk
to persons or cause material damage.
XRead all enclosed instructions and infor-
mation.
XPlease observe the warnings included
in the documentation and attached to
the unit.
XThe device must only be used in tech-
nically perfect condition, and only by
persons being aware of the risks and
dangers involved in operating the
device.
XKeep this document available near the
device.
1.1 Designated use
This luminaire is a high bay luminaire for illu-
minating factory halls.The luminaire is suit-
able for wet and damp locations.
1.2 Safety instructions
Explosion hazard
Operating the luminaire in rooms subject
to explosion hazards can trigger an explo-
sion and result in serious injuries or death.
XDo not operate the luminaire in rooms
subject to explosion hazards.
Danger due to electric current
Improper use and faulty work on the lu-
minaire may result in injuries and mate-
rial damage.
XConnection by a skilled electrician only.
XCompare the mains voltage with the
nominal voltage and the frequency
specified on the rating plate and make
sure that they are identical.
XDisconnect a damaged connecting
cable immediately from the power sup-
ply and have it replaced by the manu-
facturer or his service representative.
XHave maintenance and repair work car-
ried out by a trained electrician only.
XBefore performing work on the lumi-
naire, disconnect the luminaire from
the power supply.
Safe mounting
A falling luminaire can result in death or
serious injuries.
XHave the mounting performed by a
qualified professional only.
XMount the luminaire on a suitable wall
or ceiling using suitable fastening ele-
ments only.
XMount fastening elements correctly.
Hazard caused by unsuitable spare parts
Unsuitable spare parts can result in injuries
and material damage.
XUse only spare parts approved by the
manufacturer.
Hazard caused by broken safety glass
A broken safety glass can result in injuries
and material damage.
XA broken safety glass must be replaced.

Danger due to high ambient temperature
Exceeding the allowed ambient tempera-
ture will shorten the useful life of the elec-
tronic components.
XDo not exceed the maximum allowed
ambient temperature.

2. Model overview
For optimum installation and use of the luminaire, you have to identify the luminaire model.
To do so, you will require the model number of the luminaire.
NOTE: The model number can be found on the rating plate of the luminaire.
XCheck which model number the luminaire has.
XDetermine the luminaire model by referring to the following table, see Tab. 1.
Example: The model number HIAL 14000/840/N/DALI stands for the following
luminaire model:

XHave the luminaire mounted by a
qualified professional only.
XMount the luminaire on a suitable
wall or ceiling using suitable fas-
tening elements only.
XMount fastening elements cor-
rectly.
NOTE: Fastening elements are not included
in the scope of delivery. Suitable fastening
elements can be found in the Waldmann
range of accessories.
3.1 Mounting types
The luminaire can be mounted in differ-
ent ways.
The following mounting types are possible:
Mounting type "Rope suspension"
Mounting type "Ceiling holder"
Mounting type "Wall holder"
Mounting type "Adjustable holder"
3.2 Mounting the luminaire
of mounting type "Rope
suspension"

XIf you want to mount the one-point sus-
pension byWaldmann: Mount the one-
point suspension to the ceiling using
suitable screws.
XIf you do not want to mount the one-
point suspension by Waldmann: Make
sure that a suitable device is present
from which the luminaire can be sus-
pended later on.

XMount the second wire rope.
XSuspend the luminaire.

XMount the ceiling holder to the ceiling
using suitable screws.
