1. Description of the product
This chapter gives i portant basic infor ation about the product and its prescribed use.
All technical details of the achine are put together as a general arrange ent.
1.1. Usage and purpose-oriented use
The WIDOS 16000 mobile has been designed for the heating ele ent butt welding of pipes
and fittings with a dia eter of OD 1200 (optional OD 710 up to 1100 ).
Pipes with Ø = 1200 can be cla ped without any reducer insert (for other dia eters,
optional reducer inserts with OD 710 up to OD 1100 are necessary).
It is a achine for construction sites and particularly designed for the usage on-site, as well as
in the workshop.
The achine features a carriage with towing bar and ay be thereby handled conveniently on a
construction site.
It is not suitable and not per itted for road traffic.
All use going beyond is not purpose-oriented.
The anufacturer is not responsible for da ages caused by isuse.
The risk is held only by the user.
Also part of the purpose oriented use is
• respecting all the indications of the working instructions and
• perfor ing the inspection and aintenance work.
1.2. Safety measures
In case of wrong use, wrong operation or wrong aintenance, the achine itself or products
standing nearby can be da aged or destroyed.
Persons being in the endangered area ay be injured.
Therefore these working instructions have to be thoroughly read and the corresponding safety
regulations ust be necessarily adhered to.
1.3. Conformity
The achine corresponds in its construction to the valid reco endations of the European
Co unity as well as to the according European standard specifications.
The develop ent, anufacturing and ounting of the achine were ade very carefully.

2.7. Maintenance and inspection, repair
All aintenance and repair work have to be basically perfor ed with the
achine in off position.
During this the achine has to be secured against unauthorized switching on.
Prescribed aintenance and inspection work should be perfor ed in ti e.
The DVS gives the advice of inspection work after 1 year.
For achines with a especially high usage percentage the testing cycle should
be shortened.
The work should be perfor ed at the WIDOS G bH co pany or by an
authorized partner.
2.8. Dangers while handling the machine
The achine WIDOS 16000 mobile is constructed according to the latest technical standard
and the acknowledged technical safety rules. However, dangers for the operator or other
persons standing nearby ay occur. Also aterial da ages are possible.
The achine ay only be used
• according to the purpose-oriented usage
• in safety technical i peccable status.
Disturbances which may affect the safety of the machine must be cleared immediately.
2.9. Specific dangers
2.9.1. Danger of stumbling over electric wire
Make sure that no person has to step over the wire.
Lay the wire in such a way that the danger is kept at a ini u .
2.9.2. Dangers caused by electric energy
Only skilled persons are allowed to work at electrical appliances!
• The electrical equip ent of the achine has to be checked regularly. Loose
connections and da aged cables have to be replaced i ediately.
• If work at alive parts are necessary, a second person has to assist who can disconnect the
achine fro the ains if necessary.
• All electric tools (heating ele ent, planer and aggregate) have to be protected fro rain
and dropping water (if need be use a welding tent).
• According to VDE 0100, the use on construction sites is only allowed with a power
distributor with a FI-safety switch.

2.9.3. Dangers caused by the hydraulics
Syste parts and pressure hoses should be depressurized before the beginning
of any repair work. Even if the achine is switched off, pressure ay be in the
hydraulic accu ulator! There is a danger of injuring the eyes by hydraulic oil
squirting out.
• Da aged hydraulic hoses have to be immediately replaced.
• Make a visual inspection of the hydraulic hoses before each work beginning.
• The hydraulic oil is inedible!
2.9.4. Danger of catching clothes by the pipe cutter
You can cut yourself or even get broken bones, the knives are very sharp!
• Only wear clothes tight to the body.
• Do not wear rings or jewellery during the work.
• If necessary wear a hair-net.
• Do not touch the knives.
• Wear gloves while you replace the knives.
• If you are working within the achine, protect the area of the knives at the
cutter (e.g. by plastic fil /cardboard/cloths) in order that you cannot cut
yourself at the knives.
• Make sure that nobody steps into the pipes while the cutter is working.
• Never re ove cutting chips while the cutter is working.
• Make sure that nobody can activate the re ote control while you are driving
the cutter back and forth by the cordless i pact wrench!
2.9.5. Risk of injury by noise
Noise exceeding 80 dB (A) ay occur; during planing it is obligatory to wear ear
protection!
2.9.6. Dangers by unsecured carriage
Persons ay get injured or objects ay get da aged by an unsecured carriage.
• Never park the achine in unsecured condition; block the wheels by chocks.
• Secure the achine e.g. by a vehicle before you re ove the chocks.

2.9.7. Danger of combustion by heating element and welding area
You can burn yourself, infla able aterials ay ignite.
The heating ele ent te perature is heated up to ore than 220°C / 428°F!
• Do not touch the surfaces of the heating ele ent.
• Do not leave the heating ele ent unsupervised.
• Take enough safety distance to infla able aterials.
• Do wear safety gloves.
• Swivel the heating ele ent into the achine only prior to welding.
• Make sure that nobody can touch the heating ele ent while swinging it in or out.
• Make sure that you do not re ove resp. fold the heat protective fil .
2.9.8. Danger of crushing by clamping devices and guideways
Heavy injuries can result fro squeezing:
- On the one hand between the inner cla ping rings, on the other hand
between the outer cla ping rings and at the end of the guide shaft.
• Do not stand or put your hands between the cla ped pipes.
• Do not reach or tread between the inner cla ping rings before you have
cla ped the pipes.
• Do not block opening and closing of the achine carriages.
- upon opening / closing the cla ping tools
• Do not reach into the swinging area of the cla ping tools resp. between pipe
and cla ping rings.
- while cla ping and releasing the cla ping cylinders.
• Only cla p the cla ping cylinders if no finger / part of the body is within the
cla ping area.
• Retain the cla ping cylinder necessarily while releasing it in order that the
cylinders ay not swing downwards in uncontrolled anner.
2.10. Structural modifications on the machine
• No odifications, extensions or reconstructions ay be ade on the achine without
per ission of the anufacturer.
• Machine parts which are not in a perfect condition are to be replaced i ediately.
• Only use original WIDOS spare and wear parts.
• In case of purchase orders please always state the machine number!

3. Functional description
Basically, the internati onal and national process guidelines are to be
follow ed!
The plastic pipes are cla ped in the cla ping devices.
Afterwards, cut the pipe ends plane and parallel by eans of the cutter and check the pipe
is atch.
The cleaned and heated heating ele ent is inserted and the pipes are pressed against the
heating ele ent under defined adjusting pressure. This process is called "adjusting".
After the prescribed bead height being reached, pressure is reduced, the heating time
begins. The function of this ti e is to heat up the pipe ends.
After expiration of the heating ti e, the carriages are opened, the heating ele ent is re oved
quickly and the pipes are driven together again. The ti e gap fro the re oval of the heating
ele ent to joining the pipes is called change over time.
The pipes are joined under prescribed welding pressure and then cool down under pressure
(cooling time).
The welded joint can be uncla ped, the welding process is finished.
Heating ele ent heats
the pipes up to welding
te perature
