3. . Butt welding process
The plastic pipes are clamped in the clamping devices. Then the front sides of the pipes are
cut plane and parallel y means of the planer and the misalignment of the pipes is checked.
The heating element is inserted and the pipes are pressed against the heating element under
defined adjusting pressure. This process is called „adjusting“.
The applied force can e read on the scale mounted at the machine.
After the prescri ed ead height eing reached, pressure is reduced, the heating time
egins. The function of this time is to heat up the pipe ends.
After expiration of the heating time, the slides are opened, the heating element is removed
quickly and the pipes are driven together again. The time gap from the removal of the heating
element to joining the pipes is called change over time.
The pipes are joined under prescri ed welding pressure and then cool down under pressure
(cooling time).
The welded joint can e unclamped, the welding process is finished.

3.2. Socket welding process
First of all, the two workpieces to e welded are put into the clamping device, the fitting is
clamped at the stop of the clamping device.
The pipe can e clamped in such a way that oth workpieces can e heated up to welding
temperature at the same time (heating time) with the help of a socket or spigot-shaped
heating element.
After swinging out the heating element (change-over time), the workpieces are joined
(cooling time).
The pipe end, heating element and fitting socket are to match each other in size in such a way
that a joining pressure will uild up during joining.
After expiration of the cooling time, the welded joint can e unclamped, the welding process is
finished.
