EXPLANATION OF HIDE-A-HOSE™ SYSTEM

The operation of the pool pump causes the bladder
inside the hose to inflate and deflate.
• When the pump is switched on, the bladder
sucks air into itself through the breather line
and float, causing the hose to float.
• When the pump is switched off, the
opposite happens: the bladder
expels air out of itself, causing the
hose to sink.
COMPONENTS
• The bladder assembly consists of a float connected by a grey breather line to a
connector which is attached to the long rubbery bladder (8 metres) through a
connector piece (the adaptor).
• Eight heavy metal stainless steel tube weights are fitted
to the bladder at pre-determined spacing and kept in
place with small plastic weight locks.
INSTALLATION
These instructions assume that you have already installed your Zodiac pool cleaner
in your pool. If not, we suggest that you operate the cleaner in your pool for about
a week to ensure that you are using the correct amount of hose to give your
automatic pool cleaner optimum pool coverage and efficiency.
The Hide-A-Hose™ system can be installed on any Zodiac automatic
suction cleaner.
The system is easy to install, using the following steps.

STEP 1:
Count the number of Zodiac hose segments in your pool. There should be enough
to allow the hose to form a gentle curve at the furthest point of your pool. If you
have less than 11 segments in total, you will need to shorten the bladder.
Before shortening the bladder, make sure that you do not cut too much off the
bladder, because once shortened, the bladder cannot be lengthened.
The table below shows how many weights should be left for hose of different lengths.
Once you have counted the hose segments in your pool, use this table
to work out how many weights you need. Then using a blade or a pair of scissors,
shorten the bladder by cutting it at a point midway between the two weights,
so that you end up with the correct number of weights.
Once you have cut the bladder, wet it and tie a new very tight knot in it, leaving about
5cm of bladder after the knot.
STEP 2:
Switch on your pool pump and filter system and ensure that there is good suction.
Arrange the Hide-A-Hose™ assembly at the edge of the pool on the pool deck, with
the knotted end of the bladder within easy reach.

STEP 3:
With the pump running and the Zodiac
automatic pool cleaner operating, separate
the hose at the join between the second and
the third segments from the cleaner head.
Continue holding the end of the third hose
segment (leading back to the skimmer box)
underwater so that no air is sucked into
the hose.
Then feed the knotted end of the
weighted bladder into this hose segment so
that the entire length of the bladder with
weights is sucked into the hose.
STEP 4:
Once the entire bladder is inside the hose,
reconnect the second and third hose
segments to either side of the adaptor.
Installation is now complete.
If you have a timer on your filtration system,
for convenience you should set the operating
times so that it is off at those times of day when you or your family are likely to use
the pool. The hose will then be resting on the bottom.

If the system is working when you want to use the pool, you can override the timer by
manually switching off the pump, and the hose will sink in less than a minute.
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: Hose will not rise when pump is switched on and connected.
Check that there is good flow through the hose. If not, your filter may need
backwashing or your vacuum plate or flow valve may not be located securely in the
skimmer box. Make sure it is seated properly. If you are sure there is good flow
through the cleaner and the hose will still not rise properly, then water may have got
into the bladder because the float was held underwater when the pump was switched
on. The bladder will usually clear water out of itself automatically by squirting the
water out as the pump is switched off. You can assist this process by turning the pump
on and off repeatedly, waiting a full minute between each switch, to allow the water in
the bladder to escape.
If the water is still not clear of the bladder, disconnect the hose at the vacuum plate
and hold the end of the hose firmly over the jet of the return line (the line that brings
water back into the pool after it has been filtered). The pressure of the jet will force
water out of the bladder through the float. Once the water has been expelled,
reconnect the hose as usual.
PROBLEM: Hose will not sink when the pump is switched off.
Check that you do not have a lot of air entering the hose at a join between segments
or through a hole in the hose. If there are many air bubbles in the hose, the hose
may not sink. Another possible cause of poor sinking performance is that water may
have entered the bladder and is blocking the escape of air. Clear this water using the
same method as above.
SALT CHLORINATORS WITH A NEW HOSE
If you have a saltwater chlorinator, then for a few days after installing new hose,
bubbles may collect on the outside of the hose. This may prevent the hose from
sinking. After the new hose has been in the pool for a while, the bubbles will stop
collecting on the hose. In the meantime, if you shake the hose vigorously to release
the bubbles, the hose will sink when the pump is off.

TWO -YEAR WARRANTY
This Hide-A-Hose™ was carefully inspected before shipment from our warehouse. Upon unpacking, if any part is
missing or found to be defective, please notify your dealer immediately. Please consult the owner's manual for
complete instructions on the installation and operation of your Hide-A-Hose™.
ZODIAC GROUP AUSTRALIA WARRANTS THE HIDE-A-HOSE™ TO BE FREE FROM DEFECTS IN
MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP FOR A PERIOD OF TWO (2) YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. THE
HIDE-A-HOSE™ HOSE IS WARRANTED FOR TWO (2) YEARS AGAINST MANUFACTURING DEFECTS
AND ULTRAVIOLET BREAKDOWN.
THIS LIMITED WARRANTY EXCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
1. Discolouration of the Hide-A-Hose™ caused by reaction to chemicals used in the pool water.
Discolouration does not affect the operating ability of the Hide-A-Hose™. Therefore, this limited warranty
does not cover the replacement of discoloured parts.
2. Damage to or malfunction of the unit resulting from excess chlorination or improper water chemistry balance.
3. Replacement of parts which fail or become defective as a result of improper installation, negligence, misuse,
abuse or tampering by unauthorised repair personnel.
4. Age, pool water imbalance, and improper installation can cause pool liners to become brittle or unduly
wrinkled. Corrosion of the supporting walls and/or irregularities in the pool base may also cause liner
failure. The use of this product in such an environment is at the pool owner's risk. Therefore, the pool
owner hereby releases the manufacturer from any and all claims for damage where these conditions exist.
5. Abrasion to the hose or damage caused by misuse or improper installation.
No claim under this limited warranty will be recognised unless the attached registration card is completed and
returned within fourteen (14) days of the day of purchase. Only the original purchaser may submit a claim under
this limited warranty. Purchaser's claims against Zodiac Group Australia Pty. Ltd. shall be limited to those claims
which may be asserted under the limited warranty relating to any defect, malfunction or wear of the
Hide-A-Hose™.
To obtain warranty replacement or repair, the unit should be returned, freight prepaid, to the place of purchase
or directly to: Zodiac Group Australia Pty. Ltd. Unit 1, 23 Rowood Road Prospect NSW 2148. When submitting
a claim, always supply evidence of purchase date, retailer and a brief description of the problems/defects
encountered. Zodiac Australia Pty. Ltd. reserves the right to repair or replace all defective or worn parts
covered by this limited warranty and return same to purchaser, freight collect.
Zodiac Group Australia Pty. Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any warranties or representations made by other
individuals or businesses beyond the express terms contained in this limited warranty.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
